History[]

"Personally, I would have let the lady have a day off once and a while. Maybe bought her a nice begonia or something? Leave them unappreciated to long and blam...blow up the universe time."

Howard was an anthropomorphic sentient duck who was a central exhibit in the Collector's museum on Knowhere. It is unknown exactly where Taneleer Tivan obtained the fowl specimen, but speculation is that Howard may have hailed from an alternative realm known as "Duckworld." If that is the case, it is likely then that Howard is not a normal denizen of the Earth-11584 universe, and merely remains here either because of lack of ability to get home, or because of convenience's sake. Despite his appearance he disliked being called a Duck, preferring the term "Water Fowl."

Howard was seen in the ruins of the Collector's museum, giving Tivan advice on women (apparently misunderstanding the relationship between Tivan and his assistant Carina, which resulted in the destruction of said museum.) After Tivan rebuilt his collection, Howard remained contently a part there, seemingly taking the role once held by Carina. He befriended Adam Warlock during the latter's stay in the Collector's Museum, and observed the battle between the Guardians of the Galaxy and an Aether-infused Tivan (briefly transforming into a balding human as a result of the Reality Stone) as well as the battles between Tivan and Thanos and Thanos and Captain Marvel. He was left behind on Knowhere following the battle's conclusion, where with Tivan dead, he seemingly inherited his vast fortune and his Collection.

Alternate Timeline[]

In the alternate timeline of Infinity War, Howard was also present for the various battles on Knowhere, but was ultimately sucked out into space by Nebula's use of the Space Stone to try and avoid capture by Thanos. Whether he survived this is unknown, though it is doubtful.

Powers & Abilities[]

  • Quack Fu: Legend has it that Howard is a black belt in a martial art known as Quack Fu. The full extent of this martial art is unknown, as it has never been seen in practice.
  • Flight: As a duck, it is possible that Howard possesses a natural ability of flight, but this again has never been shown.

Weaknesses[]

Howard has never been seen without a cocktail in his hand, leading to speculation that he might have a drinking problem.
