History
Early Life
Herman Schultz was born into a poor household in New York. His father was abusive and his mother was mostly absent, so Herman spent most of his childhood looking after his brother Marty. After dropping out of High School, Herman turned to crime, finding work with various New York gangs. However, he discovered that he wasn't very good at his job. At some point, he met Russian enforcer Aleksei Sytesvich and the two formed a partnership.
Fighting Spider-Man
When Spider-Man began fighting crime in New York, Herman and Aleksei turned to criminal inventor the Tinkerer to design something to kill the hero. Schultz was given two gauntlets which emitted shocking vibrations and a suit designed so that the vibrations don't harm him. The Shocker and Rhino began robbing banks to attract the attention of Spider-Man, but the fight ended when Parker tricked Shocker into destroying Rhino's armour, allowing Spider-Man to defeat him. Schultz was then imprisoned.
