Hercules was once a demigod of legend, completing tasks of great labor to earn his God status. As decades passed by, he fell into the background and traveled the world as an alcoholic nomad. He later became friends with the Norse God of Thunder, Thor, who had been banished to the Earth.
Following Thor's death and the rise of Apocalypse, Hercules came forward and joined the Avengers to honor his friend. While serving with the team, Hercules formed a close relationship with the only surviving Asgardian, Valkyrie.
