History[]

Origins[]

During antiquity, a group of individuals called the Sickly Ones, who worshipped a demon called the Beast, came to Earth. The Sickly Ones, on behalf of the Beast, recruited five individuals, known as the Five, who were banished from K'un-Lun, who then recruited more individuals, into what would be known as the Hand many centuries later.

Feudal Era[]

In 1575, Kagenobu Yoshioka killed a Portuguese merchant who attempted to extort money from his mother. The local authorities had believed that Kagenobu's mother had killed the foreigner and had arrested her, leaving him to live with Saburo Ishiyama, who trained him to be a samurai at the Ishiyama School. After graduating, Kagenobu became a masterless samurai, claiming that he fought to remove corruption and injustice in Japan.

In 1588, Kagenobu reunited with Daisuke Sasaki, his former rival and fellow student under Ishiyama, and launched a series of raids against foreigners in Japan, declaring themselves the Inner Circle of the Hand alongside six other individuals. The Hand also targeted Japanese individuals who associated with foreigners. They chose a bloody handprint as their symbol.

World War II[]

During World War II, the Hand allied themselves with HYDRA, after making contact with one of its high ranking members, Baron Wolfgang von Strucker. In 1943, the Red Skull contacted an officer in the Imperial Japanese Army and offered to make him the leader of the HYDRA forces in Japan, which the latter accepted.
