Grievous was the best-of-the-best amongest his people. Scorned by the Jedi Order, he turned to Darth Sidious for solace, only to be manipulated and turned into a cyborg. Oh, and he was set ablaze by Obi-Wan Kenobi. Now there's a cautionary tale, eh, Annie?
History
Grievous seemingly had a similar history as his reboot timeline counterpart. He became a legendary warlord during the Yam'rii invasion of his homeworld. He developed a deep hatred for the Jedi Order when they sided with the Yam'rii. Grievous joined with the Confederacy of Independent Systems, he agreed to upgrade himself with cybernetics.
Wanting to accelerate his transformation, Darth Sidious sabotaged his shuttle, causing it to crash. CIS surgical droids then rebuilt him, with only portions of his brain, spine, and head remaining. Trained in the art of Lightsaber dueling, he became the general of the CIS' droid army.
In 19 BBY, General Grievous was among those teleported to Reality: MS-0815 through a rift and joined God Emperor Doom's Lethal Legion. He struggled to work with corrupted Clone Troopers, along with their Stormtrooper successors, due to them formerly being soldiers of the Jedi.
