Goose

A Flerken is an alien species nearly identical to that of the Earth species cats. However, there is one notable difference; Flerkens each contain pocket dimensions within their stomachs, and large extendable tendrils to be released from their mouths at any point to eat. Flerkens are native to one of the nine moons circling Hala, home of the Kree Empire.

Kree soldiers occasionally hunt Flerkens for sport, but are generally feared across the galaxy, considered one of the deadliest species to ever exist. However, one Kree, Mar-Vell, was not afraid, and was able to befriend a Flerken during its adolescence.

Mar-Vell later brought the Flerken with him to Earth, naming him Goose the Cat to further cover his true identity. Mar-Vell was pleased to learn that Goose was quite fond of his human contact, Carol Danvers. However, when Carol and Mar-Vell were abducted by Yon-Rogg and Minn-Erva, Goose was left behind.

He remained at Project: Pegasus for the next several years, with the entire staff just assuming it was their former colleague’s cat. Plus, he was very elusive and no one could have removed him if they tried. Goose was determined to stay in the same place until Mar-Vell returned, but he never did.

However, Carol Danvers did make her way back to Earth, and Goose was very pleased to see her. After she recovered her identity, she decided to keep Goose, and he proved very useful, even managing to briefly use his pocket dimension to transport the Tesseract, keeping it out of Kree hands. For the next several years, Goose remained by Carol’s side and befriended her closest allies, such as Nick Fury and her fellow Avengers.
