History
My dad never abandoned you in the first place... He just couldn't take it anymore... Fighting an army of evil robots? He said none of it made any sense... Especially since you were the ones who made it...

Early Years
Francis Barton is the son of Avenger Clint Barton (Hawkeye) and S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Bobbi Morse (Mockingbird). He was born during the traumatizing days of the ten-year event known as the "Ultron Revolution," when he had no other choice but to live in a world that was being by the megalomaniacal sentient machine Ultron, the Avengers' ally turned greatest enemy. He was taken to safety by his parents out of the the United States, along with the assistance of Avenger and agent Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow), in order to keep him safe from the hands of Ultron and his forces which effectively took over the country.
When he was an infant. Unfortunate for him, a great tragedy already struck his life as early as his childhood, Francis grew up without his mother's nurture since Mockingbird unexpectedly met her fate at the hands of Ultron Sentries during Year 2 of Ultron's global rampage, setting the first strike that drastically changed Hawkeye's life for the worst. The role of Francis' mother would eventually be mended by Romanoff, who developed a romantic relationship with his father by the middle of Year 4, only for Romanoff to later sacrifice her life along with the rest of S.H.I.E.L.D. to rescue more survivors. Francis' father couldn't feel more guilty by the many deaths he thought he could've prevented, and in doing so only made him more distant towards his allies, believing they would also lose their lives because of him. By the middle of Year 5, shortly after Romanoff's passing, Hawkeye left the Avengers and the heroic alliance altogether, deciding to live with his son as automatic defectors of Ultron's quasi-governance.
Under the tutelage of his father, the former Avenger tried his best to raise Francis to be the highly-proficient, assassin-like combatant while taking part of the nomadic group of hunting and gathering travelers known as the Scavengers in spite of his deteriorating mental health, which often drives him to drown himself in alcoholism and substance abuse, wishing for all his painful memories and burdening emotions for the past several years to wither away, with little to no effect. Growing up to survive the dreadful decade of Ultron Revolution, Francis endlessly supported his hopeless father as no one else in the Scavengers at the time knows him other than Francis himself. Thanks to Francis love for his father in the form of his patience and perseverance, Clint would slowly but progressively realize how much of a mess he has become before encouraging himself to rehabilitate, for the sake of his community and of course, his son.
Hawkeye
Upon finding out that his recovering father was brutally assassinated by a group of mercenaries who disguised themselves as fellow Scavengers, a mourning and vengeful Francis left the secretive society on his own and joined the Resistance with his newfound friend and allies James Rogers, Azari T'Challa, Torunn and Henry Pym Jr., who had the privileged to be trained by the previous and retired heroes so that then one day, they'll be prepared to help them against the tyrannical empire of Edward Stark, the mastermind behind his father's murder, and take back humanity's freedom once again. During the last days of the final war against the Empire, the participation of the Scavengers to fight against the Empire's reign of terror made him convinced that he was finally ready and was able took on the mantle of his late father, publicly posing as Hawkeye of the newest team known as the Next Avengers.
