Early Life

Steven Grant Michael "Steve" Rogers was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 4th, 1922 to John and Sarah Rogers, the only child in the family due to his younger sibling dying after complications of childbirth. Due to his parents living poorly at the time, Steve almost lived through poverty and he was suffering a chronic illness where he almost died but prevailed. Eventually, his parents were able to get jobs in New York City, moving him and his mother to Hell's Kitchen. Unfortunately for Steve, his father was fatally shot while he was working and his mother ended up dying from tuberculosis along with her unborn child, leaving him an orphaned and was placed in foster care.

In his early years of being in the orphanage, Steve was badly picked on because of his frail structure, but he was saved by a man named Abraham Erskine, who takes him under his care after seeing his weak build. This inspired him in creating a special project where he called his good friends and English agent Peggy Carter to help develop the project.

Rise of the Super Soldier

At the outset of World War II, Steve had witnessed the Nazis of Germany terrorize the Jewish while Japan invaded Pearl Harbor as well as committing atrocities in China and Korea. Not wanting to stand around anymore, he tried to enlist in the United States Army but failed the physical exam and was listed unfit to join the Army because of his weak nature. However, Steve refused to give up in wanting to fight for the country for the soldiers who went to Germany to fight off the Axis Powers. Dr. Erskine approaches Steve and makes him the first recruit in the project that he had been working on while taking care of Steve. Revealing to him that he's part of the US Army and is the founder of the Strategic Scientific Reserve aka S.S.R., Abraham introduces Steve to a top-secret enhancing experiment called Project Soldier. At first, Steve was skeptical about Erskine's idea, but his determination in fighting for the States and helping others never left his heart and he eventually accepted to become part of the project.

The Project Soldier experiment became a huge success, his frail body becoming perfectly muscular from being imbued by the Super Soldier Serum along with being doused with vita-rays that not only perfectly enhanced his blood cells but also cured his chronic illness. But before Erskine could initiate his next motive, a Nazi spy named Kruger shoots Erskine, killing him instantly and stealing the vital of the serum. Steve chases down the killer and manages to wear him down, but before he could interrogate him, Kruger commits suicide by swallowing a cyanide capsule as he shows his allegiance to HYDRA, leaving Steve helpless as he lost the chance to confront him over the Erskine's murder and the vital of the Super Soldier formula was lost, never to be found or made again.

The Legacy of Captain America

At the beginning of his new life as a 'perfect Super Soldier', Steve was dressed up in a red-white-and-blue suit as Captain America where he was set to promote war bonds and spread patriotism all over the United States throughout WWII years. Steve was very much against the idea of being used as a 'mascot' for the country when he wanted to go and put an end to the war. However, while touring, he overhears the radio that soldiers had gone MIA while fighting in the war, prompting Steve to take his chance to become the hero he wanted to be. With the help of Peggy Carter goes on a mission, where he raided the HYDRA base and frees the captured soldiers. While there, he confronts HYDRA leader Johann Schmidt, who reveals his true self-- a red disfigured face that resembled a skull. Before Steve could get closer, he was forced to escape as the HYDRA base was put on self-destruct.

Steve Rogers as Captain America

Later on, Steve was given a new suit by CEO of Stark Industries Howard Stark, along with a circular shield made out of Vibranium, making it very impervious to any damage inflicted on it. As his legacy began to form, Steve ended up forming the Howling Commandos, raiding and destroying many HYDRA bases, and even started a relationship with Peggy. After capturing Skull's assistant Arnim Zola on the train, Steve tracks down Red Skull who planned to use the weapons of destruction to bomb the major cities in America, starting with New York City. He discovers that Skull had been holding a mysterious crystalline cube called the Tesseract and had powered up his aircraft. As it took off, the two foes face off but it caused damage to the container holding the Tesseract. Red Skull grabs hold of the cube that opened a mysterious portal that sucked the HYDRA leader inside, never to be seen again. The Tesseract was soon lost in the ocean and Steve was forced to crash the plane into the Arctic ocean after seeking no other way in landing the plane with all of the weapons inside.

His sacrifice and apparent 'death' sent shockwaves to his allies, especially Peggy who was left heartbroken after she was promised to go on a date with him after the war ended. In the aftermath of WWII and the suicide of Adolf Hitler, people all over America began to mourn over the loss of Captain America and the president of the time Harry Truman, labeled Captain America, the American Hero aside from celebrating the victory of the war.

Reawakening in the 21st Century

Steve Rogers TRN980

Steve Rogers unmasked

Steve soon wakes up in a familiar room that resembled what it looked like to be a room in the 1940s. Realizing that something wasn't right, he makes his escape where he finds himself in Times Square in the modern era. He was encountered by S.H.I.E.L.D. director, Nick Fury who tells him that he had been 'asleep' for 70 years, meaning in reality -- they have found him frozen in a block of ice, the Super Soldier serum sparing him from freezing to death. Fury informs Steve to put on his suit once again to defend the Earth from the Phalanx invasion. Along with different heroes such as the X-Men, Steven brings back his Captain America mantle, introducing himself to the modern world, who was shocked to find out that he was still alive after 70 years and at the time, a famous superhero of the time Spider-Man reached to popularity. But Steve didn't care about popularity, his heroism is what matters to him and he helped people and it helped him adjust to the new life in the modern era.

One day, Steve get a word from Fury that his past love, Peggy was dying and his heart dropped when he heard the news. Fury flies him to England where he meets the now elderly Peggy Carter laying on her deathbed and a look of shock was shown on her face when she saw him standing alive. During her last hours, Peggy had told Steve that she had gotten married after believing that he had died in the war and now her children had started families of their own. Steve eventually proclaimed his love for Peggy and she tells him that he should move on for her time had already come to an end but she lets him know how delighted she was to look at him one last time and she would always be with him in spirit. After bidding Peggy farewell, she passes away and Steve attends her funeral with Fury, and he thanks her for everything once she was buried before returning to America.

Meeting the Webslinger

Steve Rogers

Captain America (Modern-Era)

Days after Peggy's funeral, Steve takes the mantle in joining S.H.I.E.L.D. to help him adapt to the modern era due to him being stuck with the help of Black Widow and Dr. Bruce Banner while continuing to bring peace and justice within New York City and other parts of the world. One day, he encounters the news bit about the vigilante hero, Spider-Man as a special event in dedication to him was shown live on television and the webslinger was present, showing gratitude towards the people he had saved and protected. Surprisingly enough, the festival was not far from where he is. As Steve arrived, he noticed how many people have shown up to see the webhead as he shows his love to the crowd, bringing the soldier back to the days when he was well-loved after his debut. He kept himself at a great distance to watch Spider-Man until the festival was attacked by a masked assassin who opens fire at the crowd, forcing them to flee in panic including the mayor of New York City.

Spider-Man eventually sprung into action to take on the assassin but the latter had no intention of killing him, instead, he wanted his blood after discovering that he was imbued by the serum similar to the Super Soldier serum. This brought Steve's attention to light as the assassin continues to face webslinger. However, Steve stormed into action when he noticed a crazed war-loving killer named Nuke double-teaming with the assassin, taking down Spider-Man with ease. Throwing his iconic shield at the two villains, Steve suits up as Captain America to subdue the two villains as Spider-Man watched in complete shock to see the Star-Spangled hero in the flesh. After Nuke and the assassin were forced to flee, Spider-Man thanks Steve for saving him but before Steve could even talk to him, the webslinger makes his leave.

Since that unforgettable day, Steve began to dig into the digital files of S.H.I.E.L.D. where he finds a document of Spider-Man who discovers that the webslinger was a college student named Peter Parker. Fury even explained to Steve that he and S.H.I.E.L.D. had been watching over Peter since he was a child and that he had told him the webslinger's origins and how he became Spider-Man and he was able to take the risk in protecting the people he cared about, and the people he didn't know. Steve was completely enthralled by Spider-Man's heroism as it took him back to his golden years, where he fought against the HYDRA and he wanted to meet the young hero himself.

Steve eventually encounters Peter attending his third year at Empire State University, surprising the vigilante as well as the other students who didn't believe that he would be alive. Being a fan himself, Peter asked Steve what was he doing on campus and the Super Soldier takes the webslinger to an alley and he had come to see him, telling him that he had discovered his secret as Spider-Man through S.H.I.E.L.D. who had been watching him while he wasn't looking. Peter felt a surge of shock when Steve told him about what Fury had been doing when he wasn't looking and remembered that his late parents were members at the time. Steve informs him that his sense of heroism caught his attention and he wanted to really meet him for the first time since awaking from his suspended animation. This also sparks another form of interest within Steve while meeting Peter as he started to get to know him personally and even wanting to know what had happened while he was frozen. He shocked that he had missed out on a lot of historical events such as the Vietnam War, the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the Challenger disaster and more. As he began to learn more about the 70 years he had missed, Steve eventually got close to Peter and the two began to form a friendship. Peter began helping Steve to get to know more about the modern world while the latter began to tell him his story on how he became Captain America.
