Originally the Avengers, they were founded after the Chitauri invasion by the seven heroes who responded to the crisis, while later there were four add-ups. The team was reformed and renamed Ultimates after the Kree invasion into Earth. The team was originally headquartered in the The Avengers Tower, and after its destruction, the Ultimates would be headquartered on the Ultimates Mansion.
As the Avengers, the heroes who together worked for the best interests of Earth. Originally consisting of the seven heroes that fought the Chitauri invasion, the group was renamed Ultimates and expanded after the Kree invasion to include all of Earth's heroes, as well superheroes across the universe, to handle not just threats to Earth, but for the whole universe.
