History

Origins

Founded around the mid-1950s in the wake of the Allied forces' victory over the Axis Powers and the Red Skull's Hydra in World War II and in the memory of the European Defense Initiative is an European Union peace-keeping organization equivalent to the American agency, S.H.I.E.L.D., and also serving as its modern day ally, along with their eventual alliances with some of the greatest heroes all across the world, most notably the "Earth's Mightiest Heroes," Avengers and the noble mutant team, X-Men.

The E.D.I. consisted of superhumans as byproducts of the modern European Super-Soldier Program, representing to their European nations, all of whom are empowered with exo-suits designed by the E.D.I.'s co-founder and director Professor Sir James Braddock, who oversees the the E.D.I. super soldier program alongside fellow founder Daniel Merlyn, and led by Professor Braddock's son, taking up the heroic moniker of Captain Britain. The E.D.I. was just as advanced as the American agency, having due to their very effective combination of independent developers and government-sponsored programs.
