The woman who would become Blade was born a daywalker, to a human father and vampire mother. Her father placed her in an orphanage where she grew up as an outcast to the other children.
She ran away and lived in the streets, survived by feeding on the blood of prostitutes. One day, she was discovered by vampire huntress Abigail Whistler, who took her in to train her in martial arts and as a vampire huntress. Blade devoted her life to destroying vampire-kind, the ones who made her what she was.
