- For almost thirty years, I have cared for you, protected you, and supported you with all I can do for you... But of course, I was the "black sheep," the outcast of the family, remember? Mom and dad used to always love you, no matter how much you were the arrogant, stubborn, immature piece of $#!&. And yet every single deed, and effort I have done for all of us seemed like it was nothing. Nothing! All because I was nothing more than a mere, accidental freak, and you were a special, little and "normal" boy... And now, look at us, Simon. We're still in the same f****** situation, all because of you... You have always the curse, Simon! You see? You would never understand me, because you never cared for me... And you never will, because now, you'll end up just like our parents... Dead...

Eric Williams, the older brother of Simon Williams, was born in Paterson, New Jersey. Eric was always the black sheep or the outcast member of his family. His mother, Martha, would tell him that he was "born bad," due to his unwanted mutation being activated during birth caused by her mother's stress, whilst heaping affection on Simon, who was "miraculously" a human when he was born, only a few years later. Eric's father, Sanford, was charged with disciplining him, but was abusive and uncaring, since his father was once an anti-mutant activist and extremist, before he eventually met and married Martha.
Though their mother Martha was more loving and more attentive towards Simon, Eric obligated himself willingly, along with the influence of his father's discipleship, to keep on taking care and supporting Simon in his wildest of dreams, as they would grow up at all costs, despite his controversial condition as a mutant in a marginalized community, being surrounded by humans in and out of his social circle.
As he grew up with his younger brother, only Simon, and the deans and directors of the academies and universities that they both went to, were fully aware about his mutant status, causing for Eric to gain the unceasing fear and long-term shame from time to time, that maybe one day, the ugly truth that he has desperately been keeping all along, would eventually be unveiled to the face of an ambivalent society. At some point during their childhood, their father unfortunately died in a fatal car collision (though it was actually a cover-up story fabricated by the "authorities" to protect the real details of the incident, which was a terrorist attack committed by the operatives of Hydra), much to him and his family's uncontrollable grief in losing him.
In the aftermath of Sanford's passing, Eric and Simon's mother couldn't deal with losing her husband, causing for Martha to suddenly leave her two children alone in their home, only two weeks after the funeral of their father. However, despite the series of unfortunate events that, a protective Eric did his very best towards raising himself and Simon, using the leftover money he miraculously found inside their basement's storage vault, formerly owned by their parents, enough to let themselves finish their educations and they graduate in college.
Accepted into S.H.I.E.L.D.
From growing up on their own as a teenager up to finishing college with a few PhDs on his fully desired degrees, he demonstrated remarkable intelligence, well ahead of that of his peers. Despite the allegations of his academies, his genius intelligence never came from his mutation, which he had yet to discover until he graduated high school, showing that his mutant powers were focused more on biokinesis, though had no relation to his intelligence.
While other children engaged in sports or played games, Eric devoted himself to the field of natural sciences. Despite his younger brother already possessing the natural aptitude and intellect in the field of electrical engineering, Simon never pursued his passion towards any scientific matters, and instead he went on to pursue the other skills and talent he was naturally good at, which was the field of performing arts, much to Eric's slight dismay, but at the same time, he was also proud of what Simon had accomplished on becoming what we wanted to be in life.
Thankfully, Eric's life has turned out just as successful as his brother had achieved, and thanks to his heightened intellect and his astonishing theories and theses regarding mutation that were proven to actually rival Charles Xavier's famous and profound mutant thesis, his naturally high intellect had garnered him the attention of the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury, kindly and peacefully accepting him to join their organization's natural science division, specifically in the field of biophysics and biochemistry. Eric was overjoyed by the director's offer, he immediately accepted the position.
An Unexpected Farewell
However, Eric hadn't easily realized the risks he was willing to take that won't just affect his life, but also his brother's own life. Choosing between his brother and the once-in-a lifetime chance that was given to me, he painfully chose his own ambitions, looking on the bright side, that his younger brother would be fine and would be much better without him being constantly by his side, despite knowing that Simon already knows how to be on his own, seeing that he's all grown up, and that Simon's nearing his graduation day. Following that life-changing decision, Eric first requested S.H.I.E.L.D. to attend his brother's graduation day before deciding to finally give him a proper farewell. Seeing his genuine love his for his own younger brother, Fury granted his request, and let Eric have his day to spend with his brother, one last time.
The following day during Simon's graduation, things apparently went well with both Simon and Eric's sibling bonding, right until Eric finally told him that he was accepted into a classified organization due to his outstanding scientific expertise, but at the cost that he had no other choice but to leave him for "a while." At first, Simon's response was uncanny and unexpected, with him being acting stubborn all of the sudden and unhesitatingly cursing to Eric, telling his own older brother that he was selfish to choose his own goals so desperately over his last family. Due to his younger brother's complaints, he was filled with enough temptation and rage to shout back at Simon, with the attempt to tell him that Simon was already accomplishing his most-desired dreams since the beginning while he was and had nothing outside his university, all because of his condition. Instead, Eric remained to act more mature than he already was before, as some older siblings would and should usually act in similar situations.
But after several hours of convincing and comforting Simon that everything would be alright even if he wouldn't be by his side for a while, both the siblings was able to make amends with each other, with Simon finally accepting, believing that he always wished choosing Eric's true happiness than his own much sooner, and by this opportunity, he finally gets to achieve that wish for the very first time. The following early morning, Eric wrote a final letter to Simon, before finally leaving their home with a few S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, led by Phil Coulson.
The "Wackos" Project
For the next few months of Eric's young adult life during the late 80's, now working as a enthusiastic and hard-working scientist within a classified S.H.I.E.L.D. facility in New Jersey, he earned and gained praise and respect among his co-workers and superiors, something he never much had before he was recruited in the organization, despite his status as a mutant. Along with it, he and his colleague Hugo Lopez had been working towards replicating the Super-Soldier Program through the classified project code-named "Wackos," another successor program to Project: Rebirth, which originally led to the creation of the first successful Super-Soldier, Steven Rogers, Captain America. Though the project's mission was to replicate the superhuman serum, Eric had agendas on his own for this project, believing that one of the main ingredients used in the upcoming project, Ionic Rays, would convert his X-Genes into normal ones, hypothetically turning him into a human, according to his still-untested theory.
Unfortunately, after the failure of more than ten candidates, the program eventually was almost forced to shut down only a decade after it was founded, though due to Eric's desperation to have his mutant genes gone out of his system, he was able to convince Lopez and the higher superiors of the science division to continue the project, with one last candidate, including himself, which seemed too insane according to the superiors, but after seeing Eric's courage and bravery in willing to take any risks, all so he can "become human," the superiors granted his request, but with an addition to recruiting one other candidate, just in case the final set of the program goes off the rails.
Thinking who the other test subject might be, the superiors decided to with someone who has an excellent reputation and a fresh image to the public, with their candidate leaning closest towards Eric's own brother, Simon, whose fame and popularity was swiftly rising at the time after pursuing his acting career, with the superior's intention of creating another version of Captain America during the 90's. At first, Eric immediately declined their suggestion out of his care of his younger brother's safety, but after trying to contact Simon for the first time in years, Simon himself abruptly accepted the being organization's test subject without hesitation, much to Eric's surprise and confusion.
Having to ask why did his brother immediately accepted the request without knowing the risks of the experiment, Simon reasoned out that becoming was of his other of becoming a successful body-builder, in which he had failed accomplishing the latter the last time he tried. And despite Eric's efforts to stall him out of making a possible mistake that could ruin his life and career forever, Simon insisted that he would take any risks, just so he'll be able to accomplish his other dream that he wished to accomplish for so long.
Eric even tried to convince him that he already had enough after accomplishing his rising career as an actor, but Simon acted all arrogant and self-centered on Eric once again, believing that Eric was only stalling him out because he didn't want him to be successful as Eric is as a scientist, instead of thinking that his brother is just protecting him. As a result, Eric couldn't convince Simon any longer and had no other choice but to inform S.H.I.E.L.D. on Simon's decision, much to the superiors' delight, before certifying to run the Wackos Project, one last time, whatever result it would give them this time.
With the last two known candidates, the Williams siblings, Simon and Eric were conclusively chosen to be the final test subjects of the Wackos Project. The experiment went horribly wrong and an explosion occurred at that night, affecting both Eric and Simon. In the wake of the accident, Simon seemed to have been the closest result to their of becoming the they've expected for him to be, gaining the extraordinary abilities of chemical and ionic radiation-inducing powers. Simon woke up and emerged with the attributes he was promised, which would lead him to become a heroic persona by the name of Wonder Man later on, but unfortunately in the meantime, he realizes that his brother wasn't so fortunate as he was.
Eric's result on the other hand, the ionic rays had only triggered his secondary mutation, discovering his newfound deadlier, decaying ability of decomposition through physical contact, along with the rays affecting his brain patterns, somehow reversing his original personality, now turning him into an insane, ravenous megalomaniac. At the same time, the accident had also costed him of losing his own right hand. In the aftermath of the lab accident, Eric immediately escaped the facility the following day, after painfully realizing that so much has changed to him since that night.
Days after his sudden reluctant disappearance from S.H.I.E.L.D.'s supervision, Eric also finds out about what happened to Simon the following days since the accident occurred when Eric discovered that Simon was back inside their residence. At first, Eric optimistically expected that his younger brother would openly be there to help him with his worsening condition. Unfortunately, Eric experienced the opposite. Instead, Simon was frightened and acted too strange after seeing him, with him acting like he had already moved on from the tragic and untimely events that occurred the last few days.
Along with it, Simon did not even recognize him seeing that his face was now pale and almost disfigured (due to the result of the experiment's side-effects), believing that the Eric was nothing but a stranger that had broken in his house, and implying that Eric had already left him a few years ago, which had left him emotionally devastated, unbeknownst to Eric. Feeling extremely perplexed, Eric had no other choice but to make a scene, making it seem like he was going to attack Simon, and create havoc inside the residence, in order to leave the house and escape the authorities. Even before Eric, and Simon himself, knew the truth to this unusual discovery in a later time, it was already revealed that Director Fury had an unconscious Simon under a classified mind-wiping process, making him forget everything that he experienced in the past few days, making Simon completely forget that he has reunited with Eric in the first place, along with his participation in the "Wackos Project."
The Grim Reaper
After discovering about that revelation, Eric's disdain and hatred towards Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. has started to grow from time to time, and has began his life-long mission to extract revenge upon the very people and the organization who unexpectedly had ruined his entire life forever, to the point where Eric's unstable emotions and thirst for vengeance had made him more and more dangerous, having the possibility that he could simply take someone's life out with only a fatal touch if one would dare and threaten him. Since the laboratory accident, nobody has ever figured out about the current whereabouts of Eric, not even S.H.I.E.L.D. themselves, who was also desperately searching to where he went for the next following years, until their persistent search had even reach the early 21st century. Unbeknownst to both parties, Eric went absolutely off the grid, where he spent the next several years of his life continuously committing a series of criminal activities, including illegal dealings and even countless brutal murders through the use of his necrotizing powers, as a part of his act of vengeance against S.H.I.E.L.D. and other individuals who have wronged him from both in the past and present.
Morever, Eric was also known for killing several criminals whom he intentionally makes secret illegal dealings with in exchange for a few technology and various equipment needed for his own interests, moments after their deals have been made. During one of those deals he made with a faction of the Maggia, Eric made a deal in exchange for a list of tech parts needed to complete his latest invention (at the time), and as he finally receive the latter, he assembled it, finally completing the invention. Reveling the invention to be a scythe for his missing right hand, he immediately use it to kill the dealers, unhesitatingly slashing all of their throats in one strike.
Due to the brutal & disturbing way he does his series of killing upon his victims and the remarkable scythe he now possesses, he was nicknamed by the government authorities and agencies as the Grim Reaper, without them having to even know his secret identity. His new existence as a domestic terrorist and a ruthless serial killer was nothing but a legend, a mere rumor among both the authorities and the criminal community, right until S.H.I.E.L.D. themselves finally decided to pursue more on tracking down, investigating every single record involving the Reaper's criminal activities, eventually proving his existence to the known authorities.
At some point later during his days as a rising terrorist, Eric was on the urgent mission to find himself a remote area away from the authorities, where he could set up his own headquarters. Because of his mission, Eric left the United States traveled across the Pacific Ocean in a stolen small yacht that he greatly modified, searching for an unpopulated, habitable island to live in, until he eventually finds the right place that very suits his tastes, revealing to be the vast, fruitful island of Genosha. Little known to Eric, the island itself was not so unpopulated after all, when his island expedition was suddenly interrupted by a gang of mutant "thugs" who relentlessly ambushed him.
Defending himself from the hostile group, Eric used his useful combat skills and his tech to fight the without the use of his natural powers, in which he still proved to be the victor over the former. That seemed to be the outcome, but the following seconds the has followed, Eric was truly in desperate need of support when he was forced to face their strongest warrior, Logan. During their unequally matched duel seemingly to the death, Eric almost lost his life, prior to him finally but still reluctantly using his deadly ability against Logan, subsequently injuring him in the most fatal way possible. Seeing that Logan still survived from his decaying touch (thanks to his accelerated healing factor), a shocked but somehow impressed Eric only had one repulsive action, to run. As Eric tries to escape the guarded island, only to be surrounded by the same mutants who he encountered earlier. Eric, who was now starting to unleash his abilities once more, only to be politely interrupted by the island's ruler, who formally introduced himself as Magneto. Along with Magneto's introduction, the latter also knew that Eric was also one of them, a mutant.
Much to Eric's surprise, he questions the leader how he easily knew what he was, to which the former simply explained that he had seen a lot of others like him who felt too frightened or hesitant whenever they try and use their "gifts," before he convinces them to join his supreme society within the island. With Eric already understanding the context of Magneto's message, abruptly interrupts his encouraging persuasion, and went straightforward with him, telling the leader that he won't be join their society, implying that he prefers working alone and does not want anything to do with his supremacy "cult terrorist group." Before the Brotherhood finally lets Eric go, Magneto felt disappointed and saw that Eric had a "lot of potential" in him, only if they may be able to help him control his powers. Eric was flattered, but he still declined the leader's offer otherwise. As a final response to Eric, Magneto gave Eric a miniature device, telling him that they'll be there whenever he'll be needing the Brotherhood's help, to which he kindly accepts. Afterwards, Eric reassembled his scythe back to his right hand, repacks his equipment, and leaves on his yacht, continuing his search throughout the Pacific.
Powers and Abilities
Homo Superior Physiology: Eric Williams has been stated by most conventional sources around the globe, even to Professor Charles Xavier himself, as an Alpha-Level Mutant, and stated to be among the most powerful and deadliest mutants on Earth. Williams has the mutant ability to absorb the life-force of other human beings by touching their bare skin, which leaves the bodies of his victims in a withered, mummy-like state due to them festering slowly from wherever Eric has touched them depending on the duration. Originally, Williams' life-force absorption weren't too much fatal, with him only possessing the powers of manipulation growth among all biological organisms, right until the incident during the "Wackos Project" had only made his even worse, accidentally igniting his secondary mutation that gave him new lethal powers, even more fatal than one he already potentially had in his first mutation.
