Early Years[]

Elizabeth "Betsy" Braddock (born December, 1980) was the only daughter, and the first born in a set of fraternal twins, born to highly respected research scientist, and one of the E.D.I. founding members, Sir James Braddock Sr. and his wife, Lady Elizabeth Braddock.

Growing up Elizabeth enjoyed a very happy childhood. Where she got along very well with her younger twin brother Brian Braddock and her elder brother Jamie, whom she eventually came to idolize and see as her hero. Though as the years went by Elizabeth began feeling a distance between her and her brothers, due to the fact both of them had inherited their fathers' intellect, and both had developed a love of science like the elder Braddock. This feeling of distance between Betsy, her brothers and her father, only got worse when she hit puberty in the late 1990's and her mutant powers manifested themselves. But right after this happened Elizabeth family gathered a round her in an unwavering show of suppprt, and she even learned during this time there her father was one of the founding members of the European Defense Initiative. Where her brother Jamie worked with him, and that he was also a mutant as well. But had learned to control his powers due to support from their father and the E.D.I. Faced with these facts Elizabeths' feelings of distance concerning her and her family slowly but surely began to vanish. Which made it all the more easier for her to complete the training in regards to her mutant abilities with the support of the E.D.I.

Agent Psylocke[]

While completing her training in regards to her mutant powers with the E.D.I. Elizabeth soon found herself targeted by a fellow mutant and E.D.I. psychiatrist named Dr. Christopher Ramsey. Who was in fact a sleeper agent for Hydra. One that wanted to twist and obtain Elizabeth's power for his organization. To that end he slowly started brainwashing her to turn her into a loyal Hydra follower like himself. Made easy since Dr. Ramsey was one of the people assigned to help Elizabeth with her powers in the first place. However before Ramsey could finish his place James Sr. caught on and moved to rescue his daughter with his sons by his side. But when confronted by the Braddock men Ramsey engaged Besty brainwashing and a battle began to ensue. Where Ramsey managed to kill James Sr. Though upon witnessing the death of her father Betsy subconsciously overpowered all of Ramsey brains washing and then defeated him in a telepathic battle.

After this occurred Betsy began mourning her father, and slowly falling into a depression over his death, since she believed it was partly her fault. That is until her brothers confronted her, and offered her a spot as an agent with the E.D.I. A chance Betsy jumped at, if only in part to help honor her father's legacy with the organization. Thus she became an agent, and took on the codename Psylocke due to her powerful telepathic abilities. Once this happened Betsy began completing missions for the E.D.I., and was one the first operatives for its newly created Psi Division, which was composed of other telepathic individuals, mutant or otherwise, like Betsy who wanted to do their part to keep the world safe from threats.

Horseman & X-Men[]

In 2003, along with the other telepathic within the E.D.I. Psi Division, Elizabeth one day was suddenly hit with a powerful telepathic energy wave, which the E.D.I. traced the origin of to Cairo, Egypt. With that Besty, and a team of E.D.I. agents, which she was chosen to lead, was dispatched to investigate the origin of the telepathic wave. In doing so Besty and her fellow agents came into contact with the re-awakened ancient and powerful mutant known as En Sabah Nur, who now went by the name Apocalypse. Who after sensing Betsy incredible telepathic powers captured her and then forcibly turned her into one of his new warriors whom he called Horseman. After which Betsy was forced to help recruit the other Horseman which included the weather-controlling mutant Ororo Munroe, the powerful mutant and terrorist Max Eisenhardt, and finally a member of the American-based Mutant superhero team known as the X-Men, Warren Worthington III. Once this was done Betsy and her fellow Horseman were set to help Apocalypse conquer the world. Until they were defeated and freed from his control by the combined efforts of the X-Men and Magneto Brotherhood of Mutants.

In the aftermath of these events Betsy took a small sabbatical from active E.D.I. duty, and even traveled to America where she could properly apologize to the X-Men for all the trouble she caused them. Though they didn't hold it personally against her. Filling Betsy with great relief. Which was soon replaced by joy as she found herself truly getting to know the X-Men on a personal level, and forming friendships with several of them including Ororo, Jean Grey, Katherine Pryde, and even her fellow former Horseman Warren.
