History[]

Early Years[]

Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez (born May, 1977) was the only child and only daughter born to Beatrice Rodriguez and former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent turned mercenary-for-hire John "Griffin" Horton, who stopped in Potosi, Colombian for a few weeks to avoid those seeking to capture him, and ended up having a one-night stand with Beatrice that resulted in Elena conception. Though Elena herself would know none of this until she reached adulthood. Instead she grew up believing her father was dead, as that is what her mother and the rest of her family told her, since they felt it was easier to let Elena believe that lie than instead knowing her father wanted nothing to do with her.

Growing up Elena found herself witnessing first hand the corruption plaguing her country, and her uncle Oscar, a lieutenant in the National Police of Colombia, efforts to fight against it. That is until he murdered by a local drug dealer named Javier, on orders of corrupt officers that Oscar was working to expose within his own department. Once this occured Elena and her family were forced to flee Potosi and move to Bogota, where the corruption was even worse. Faced with this Elena attempted to do something it and applied to join the police force, only to rejected at the last minute after beating up a fellow cadet who was making unwanted sexual advances towards her. After this happened Elena took a simple job as a local museum clerk, and taught art classes at night, to make a living. But she never stopped working to save her country.

Becoming A Speedster[]

During the Inhuman Outbreak that began in 2015, due to the battle between S.H.I.E.L.D. and Jiaying Afterlife, Elena found herself undergoing Terrigenesis after consuming some tainted fish soup one night. Once this occured she soon discovered she could move at incredible speeds, though always ending up back in the exact same spot she started from. Despite this Elena became ecstatic, believing her powers were a gift from God, and as such began putting them to use to make her country a better place. Thus she teamed up with her cousin Fransisco, who did become a member of the Colombian National Police, and began targeting corrupt officers and their allies on the force. In particular colonel Victor Ramon, who Elena and Francisco discovered was the man who had their uncle and father Oscar killed when they were children.

Due to Elena actions she got on the radar of S.H.I.E.L.D. and soon found herself confronted by agents, in particular one who would become her close friend Daisy Johnson, and the man who would become her future husband, Alphonso Mackenzie. Who after learning of Elena true motives for her activities decided to aide her, and together they took down colonel Ramon and his corrupt band of officers. Who were in fact working in concert with Gideon Malick faction of Hydra. This lead to Elena and her family finally getting justice for her uncle Oscar. It also led to her joining up with S.H.I.E.L.D. as an agent, where shorty after which she learned the truth about her father after S.H.I.E.L.D. took her DNA for cataloguing. This revelation led Elena to not only confront her mother, and the rest of her family, but also to finally meet her father John Horton, who was now in prison. But upon meeting the man Elena firmly realized she wanted nothing to do with him and this cut all ties, ready to make her own reputation as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. A quest that led her to join a team composed of other altruistic Inhumans, and superhumans, known firstly by the name Caterpillars, until it was changed to Secret Warriors, becoming a modern day version of the World War II unit known as the Howling Commandos.
