History

For Gorgon's sake! That's enough killing...
Ronin

Ultron Revolution

Before the years of Ultron Revolution, Elektra Natchios seemed to have the same history with her Earth-61615 counterpart, until Ultron started an all-out war against humans and those who dares to oppose him and his ideologies. Thankfully, he was finally stopped inside his Sanctuary by the combined efforts and plan of every hero and villain all over the world who still remained surviving, creating the Ultron Resistance. Sadly, the final day of Ultron Revolution costed so much casualties, taking the lives of several heroic individuals, most notably were the Thing, the Hulk, Black Panther, Captain America, and even Ultron's own father and creator, Hank Pym, and countless millions more innocent lives.

Elektra was one of the few surviving heroes, villains, and anti-heroes among the Defenders to have lived through the deadly ordeal of the ten year reign of the megalomaniacal machine across the globe, which fortunately ended in Ultron's defeat and destruction. When her fellow hero and long-time lover Daredevil had entered a deep, catatonic stupor due to his trauma, loss of loved ones, and survivor's guilt, Elektra stayed with her undying flame as she has always been fighting by his side for the past decade. Elektra helped Matt recovered from the psychological agony and doubts of his own faithfulness which he couldn't bare to endure alone, and the latter couldn't be more grateful for her love and support, reigniting the two's once distanced relationship in the aftermath of Ultron's devastating age of terror, eventually getting married and settled to live inside their new residence as a newlywed couple: the former main office of Nelson, Murdock, and Page in New York. The two hoped to soon retire from their heroics and spend the rest of their lives normally, together.

Slaughter of Saints

Marvelous Multi Murdock and Elektra

Elektra and Matt on their honeymoon

After the unexpected tragic incident during the bombings at Central Park, New York which the Murdock couple has sorrowfully witnessed on the news and television, many unfortunate incidents in the form of unfortunate deaths of several heroes and villains across New York and other neighboring states that were assassinated, both who were active and retired after the Ultron Revolution, which included Elektra and Matt. Those included the apparent assassinations of several heroes and villains, numerously fellow Defender Iron Fist and other members of Heroes for Hire, Cyclops and several other mutants, Magneto inside his kingdom in Genosha, the Avenger Hawkeye, and numerous more mutants and heroic individuals who previously fought with more valiance and less fear during the now historically-unforgettable Ultron Revolution.

On that fateful night, Elektra and Matt was attacked inside their residence by ninja-like figures, reminding Elektra of her grim and desolate past that was the organization Hand, an aspect that she thought was already gone for a long time. During the assault on the Murdock residence, the crime-fighting couple stuck together the incoming attackers, until Matt was struck in the heart with her own twin sais by one of the surviving and more efficient assailants, much to Elektra's great shock and distress. Elektra tried to chase down and prevent the assassins from escaping the apartment, but failed as they vanished the scene with little to no trace. Elektra comes back to comfort her fatally-wounded husband and tearfully begs him to stay with her until emergency comes, denying her feeling that it was too late for him to recover. Knowing his fate was sealed that very moment, a dying Matt simply caressed Elektra in her face and calmed her down, assuring her to retain her faith.

Matt succumbed to his wounds, dying in Elektra's arms, and the ambulance could only retrieve his lifeless body once it arrives at the scene. Elektra was almost framed as her own husband's murderer due to some recognizing her former signature weapon, but thankfully, thorough investigations by the authorities found that there were no traces of Elektra's DNA on the sai that impaled Murdock, and was someone else's. Still, despite this, Elektra was forever traumatized as she greatly mourns for the loss of her dear, beloved husband, the great vigilante once known to the world as Daredevil: The Man Without Fear, which words held true even to his death.

Pursuit for Revenge

On The Run

Still tearfully staring at his corpse at the morgue hours after delivering him to the hospital, Elektra bitterly pledged to Matt in his death that she will avenge him, and will do whatever it takes to find his killers at any cost, and with it, mercilessly slaughter them with the same weapons they used on them that night. With the help of a retired hero and still-active private investigators Jessica Jones, Felicia Hardy, and the assistance of Luke Cage, Elektra conducted countless of investigations to find any single clue on where the whereabouts of her husband's killers may be, until it led to them finding an active mercenary by the codename of Assassin, assuming the latter may be involved with the attack. The trio tracked down the Assassin and even restrained him for interrogation, to which the heroes found out that agents of the Ten Rings, which were primarily based in the Middle East, were actually hired to kill them, and not actual "ninjas" which genuinely confused Elektra that night thinking it was the Hand. However, before they could've asked more questions, their secret warehouse was discovered by H.A.M.M.E.R. operatives, claiming to be the authorities as they sought to rescue the Assassin and ransacked the place in search for the three heroes, who luckily escaped and went in hiding.

Unfortunate for Elektra and her allies, the country was on the verge of radical change of governance after Edward Stark had taken over as the president of the United States, having taken care of the thousands of heroes and villains that would've stood on his way of achieving a New World Order, if he didn't act proactively. Elektra had no other choice but to be on the run as an outlaw to continue her progress on tracking down the ninjas who went into their residence and find wherever they may be hiding, even if it resorts her to greater lengths, which included her leaving the States to venture overseas, to avenge Matt's death. However, on her way to leave New York on a ferry, she was hunted down by a H.A.M.M.E.R. mercenary who was tasked to "silence" her through assassination. During the abrupt confrontation at the dock, the mercenary shot multiple times after the two fought hand-to-hand, apparently killing Elektra when her body dropped in the ocean floor.

The Ten Rings

Unfortunate for the mercenary, Elektra was no ordinary human, as her healing factor kept her alive enough to keep on swimming in the middle of the sea until she found a travelling fishing boat to ride on, eventually making her way to the Middle East where she began to search for the Ten Rings. Upon arriving at the region, Elektra's first hostile encounter with Ten Ring spies would unexpectedly find herself joining forces with the Chaste, now led by Maya Lopez (Echo), revealing their presence in the Middle East to rescue lost members abducted by the Ten Rings, though it was later revealed that they had the same motive of avenging Daredevil's death, at least to Echo since Matt was one of her closest friends. Elektra once again joined Chaste in order to help the group rescue and confront its leader, the Mandarin, whether he was the mastermind behind the assassination of Daredevil.

After weeks of countless interrogations and investigations across the Middle East, the Chaste eventually found the hidden main headquarters of the Ten Rings in Afghanistan, where they fought their way in until they met the now senile Mandarin, serenely sitting on his throne albeit confused to the Chaste's arrival. They explained what happened to Daredevil and the assassination of other heroes back in the States, though the Mandarin was still baffled by their remarks. Insulted by their assumptions that he would involve himself with heroes once again, the Mandarin attacked the Chaste with his Ten Makluan Rings, which the latter thought would be overpowering, but they quickly found out that the extraterrestrial rings' source of power was close into being drained after Mandarin explained that Ultron used most of its energy to power up his Sanctuary, during the ten years of his revolution. In addition to that, Edward Stark has used more of the rings' energy in exchange for assuring the success his new world order once Mandarin complied. As a result, the combined strength of the Chaste was able to overwhelm and take down the Mandarin, questioning him once more why they were told that it was his men who executed the assassination on Elektra's husband.

The weakened Mandarin scoffed in disbelief, remembering no matter how many men have defected his organization since its foundation, yet his branding on them as a Ten Rings agent still remains. Elektra was given another clue that the assassin was a former Ten Rings agent, though Echo was not happy about the Mandarin's humorous hints. Then out of the sudden, one of the Chaste suddenly decapitated the terrorist warlord, who also proceeded to impale Echo afterwards, horrifying Elektra and the rest of her allies to find out that there was a mole in their group. The mole was easily subdued by Elektra and the Chaste, though the traitor swiftly killed himself, committing seppuku to keep whatever information he has to his grave.

Chaste's Return

Elektra 61616

Elektra vengefully travels overseas to find and hunt Daredevil's killer

Unfortunate for Elektra, Echo tragically died from her fatal impalement, but not before admitting to Elektra that the mole was a former Hand member, giving Elektra another clue on where to go next on her mission. Shortly after infiltrating the Ten Rings' base and the rescue of the lost Chaste members, Elektra came with the Chaste back to their base in Japan which was an imperial mansion, where she buried Maya Lopez in the base's garden before finding out that the Chaste was not the same as it was, revealing that it was actually being led by Silver Samurai. Elektra was initially hostile towards due to his infamous history as an X-Men rogue, but the Harada came to propose setting their past differences together to help each other out in finding the real perpetrator, in which Harada also confessed that the very Hand assassins who took her husband's life were also responsible for wiping most of his family clan, including his closest loved ones.

Though reluctant at first, Elektra joined forces with Silver Samurai's Chaste in their secret battle against the Hand, whom they believed to be the one who directly ordered the assassinations. In the next few years, Elektra stayed in Japan, where she once again lived as a member of the Chaste just like when she was a child; the only difference now was that Elektra took combat training under Harada's tutelage, practically making her a better fighter and to an extreme, a better killer, more than ever before. For almost four years, Elektra fought with the Chaste against the Hand under the armored, costumed identity of Ronin, wearing its notorious suit which Elektra found within the imperial mansion, unknowingly succeeding its unnamed predecessor who died in the fight against Sentries during Ultron Revolution to protect the land of Japan. Ronin fought as the fearless and ruthless warrior it was destined to be, fighting crime across populous cities in Japan, right until she and the Chaste finally confronted the Hand's new leader, when she eventually discovered that Silver Samurai and his "Chaste" was merely another subfaction for the greater "New Hand", who was revealed to be led by Typhoid Mary, the real mastermind behind the assassinations under the execution of ninja-like figures, with her also confessing that she used to work of the Ten Rings during Ultron Revolution only to leave it afterwards to form the New Hand, explaining why she had a Ten Rings brand on both of her shoulders.

Furthermore, she explained that Daredevil's death was only one of the many incidents that was done in order to fulfill a bigger conspiracy: Edward Stark's Empire, which is now a grim reality even the Hand once thought was impossible. Slowly feeling uncontrollable rage flow in her veins, Elektra faced the Hand all on her own, creating a pool of blood within their battleground mostly from the enemies Elektra has slain, including her two-faced ally Silver Samurai, whom Elektra had dismembered with his own Muramasa Blade, before proceeding to deal with Mary, her husband's killer. The two fought mercilessly and gruesomely, though it nevertheless ended with Mary's downfall. Mary tried to stall Elektra by asking the latter whether she cares that her husband's death was nothing but a pawn move. Elektra simply interrupts Mary, reminding her that she doesn't care about Stark or his Empire; she only cared about avenging her husband's death. In the duel's final moments, Elektra excruciatingly stabbed Mary both in the chest and in the back with each of twin sais which she had kept all this time, mirroring Mary had killed Matt that tragic night, though she intentionally missed her heart, unveiling that Elektra had a change of heart not to kill her for Matt's sake, but to paralyze her for the rest of her life, letting her suffer for taking away Elektra's world. Elektra didn't pull out her twin sais from Mary's body, signalling that she finally had her closure as the child of both the Hand and Chaste, and left the Hand's headquarters afterwards, also leaving mostly everyone inside for dead, unless some of them miraculously finds a way out.

The Resistance

After finally fulfilling her path to vengeance of avenging Daredevil's demise at the hands of Typhoid Mary and her New Hand, Elektra returned to the States once again, where she immediately joined the Resistance in their final battle against the Empire in her Ronin persona, knowing that her husband would have done the same thing if he was still alive. In the end of the finale, the Resistance were victorious, ending another terror caused by one of Earth's greatest minds, and with the it, peace and liberty was restored throughout the rest of the entire world, for now, thanks to the contributed help and assistance of these heroes including Ronin and her fellow surviving Defenders, who fought valiantly to restore peace and freedom across the States, and with Stark's Empire surely failing, setting the rest of the world free from his totalitarian one world government.

Secret Wars

The multiversal events known as the incursions caused realities to crash with each other, with the central point being each universe's planet Earth, and one of those universes have pitted Earth-61616 against another distant future reality that unexpectedly unleashes an army of duplicated speedsters, led none other than the future Speed Demon. During the cosmic assault, Elektra and the Defenders helped evacuate millions of people launch several massive spaceships (built and previously owned by the deceased artificial intelligence Ultron) containing millions and millions of people as they try an evacuate the planet. In the end, the two realities collided, and Elektra died together with her home universe, hoping that she'll be with Matt soon in the afterlife.

Return

After the restoration of the Multiverse at the hands of the benevolent Beyonder in order to compensate the disastrous and convoluted Secret Wars, Elektra and the rest of Earth-61616's surviving residents would later resurface in his own native universe, which was eventually brought back to existence together with the rest of the Multiverse, most notably after the heroes of the mainstream reality were able to banish Nightmare from this reality, preventing him from taking over Earth-61616 and making it his realm of darkness. In her return, Elektra remembered a memorable and cherishable dream with her late husband, claiming that they were able to reconcile and spend a passionate and wonderful time each other at the afterlife, long before she and the world came back to life. According to her, their last moments together were Matt promising that he would be waiting for her, until they meet again, in which Elektra simply smiled as tears began to drip from her eyes, right before she found herself waking up on her bed.

  • Elektra and Matt spent their honeymoon in particular places across Greece and the Aegean Sea, where somewhere in the latter was Elektra's birthplace.
  • Elektra no longer feels any interest in forming another romantic relationship with someone else, realizing how much she loves Matt Murdock even after his death. This was seen when she didn't pursue being intimate with either Echo or Silver Samurai during her alliance with the Chaste.
  • Having been devastated by Frank Castle's death after hearing it, it was hinted that Elektra and her fellow Defender had formed a short-lived intimate relationship during Ultron Revolution which was prior to her reconciliation with Matt Murdock, though it was never fully disclosed.
