Daredevil Vol 1 4
History
The world has always been in flames, Matthew... In time, you'll realize that all these idiots you're trying to stop will only end up burning themselves. Besides, where's the fun of dousing out the fire when you barely even have the guts to extinguish them for good?

Early Years
The woman who would eventually be named Elektra was born around the first months of 1982 on a low populated island somewhere in the Aegean Sea to a mysterious mutant named Tomi Shishido (Gorgon), a loyal albeit exiled commander of the cult-like organization called the Hand, and an unnamed young Greek woman who served him during her lifetime until she began to question their secret society. Gorgon expected their child to be a powerful mutant who would lead the Hand once the reign of the "five fingers of power" led by Alexandra Reid, Gorgon's immortal relative and rival, eventually withers in the future, only to reveal that the woman had a genetic condition that had canceled out the X-Genes in the child's system by birth. Elektra's mother feared for her life, frightened that Gordon would have the child killed as an inconvenience, rendering her to make the decision of sending her away from the agenda of Gorgon and the Hand by smuggling the infant overseas. Her attempt was successful, but it sadly costed her own life the moment Gorgon found out, rebutting that she could still be useful until she shipped her off the island. Knowing the uncertainty of the child's fate, Gorgon was worried that Alexandra would eventually track down the lost child and eventually turn her into an incarnation of the Black Sky, the most powerful living weapon of the Hand, in order to ensure her leadership on the Hand for as long as she and the rest of the "fingers" live on.
Battling the Hand
Despite surviving alone in scraps through a life of brawls and thievery, the young Elektra eventually found herself under the care and temporary protection of the former warrior Stick, who persistently raised and passionately trained her in martial arts as part of the Chaste's plans in waging a war against the Hand, unaware of the irony that her heritage lies with a prominent figure of the Hand. After realizing how dangerous she could be due to her ruthless nature, he let her be adopted by the Natchios, Greek ambassadors who couldn't have children, thus legally changing her name to Elektra Natchios. Growing up in a life of luxury and privilege yet still develop a feminist and individualistic mindset, she got herself the chance to study political science in Columbia University, wherein she fell in love with Matt Murdock, with the latter not knowing their relationship resulted from mission for Stick to bring Murdock into the Chaste.
She returned to his life after years of absence, putting her beliefs and methods at conflict with his own. Later, she was revealed to potentially be the Black Sky, the one who is supposed to lead the Hand and was the strongest warrior to tap into the Beast's mystical powers. However, Elektra chose to help Murdock defeat the malevolent organization as she was convinced by the latter that she was capable of redeeming her murderous ways and become a better person, only to be killed in the final confrontation with Hand commander Nobu Yoshioka after the Hand commander had unintentionally driven her own twin sai through the heart in order to protect Murdock.
The Black Sky
Unbeknownst to Daredevil, Stick, and her allies, the Hand had Elektra's corpse secretly retrieved from her grave and placed it in a stone chamber to be exposed to the Resurrection Elixir, an organic substance native to the Makluans (dragons) of K'un-Lun. After her resurrection, Alexandra Reid manipulated and took her under her wing, training her in their ways to truly become the Black Sky, fulfilling Alexandra's planned prophecy of transforming one of their best warriors into the host of their revered ancient deity, the Beast. After becoming the Hand's personal weapon which involved the near-eradication of the Chaste, Elektra fought Daredevil and the Defenders which reawakened her past self through her interactions with the Guardian Devil. After breaking free of her master's emotional manipulations and remembering her past, Elektra took over the Hand by killing Reid, literally backstabbing her with her twin sais right as soon as she reclaimed them from the Hand's acquisition, memorabilia which also gave a spark into recalling her most of her memories.
In the end of her climactic confrontation against the Defenders, Matthew managed to successfully convince Elektra, making her snap out of her Black Sky persona and come with them to get out of the collapsing ruins of the Hand's underground's headquarters in New York. Unfortunately, Elektra and Daredevil became separated, although the Defenders managed to escape under the collapsing structure of the building. Elektra was then revealed to have survived the underground's entombment, albeit months later which made the once grieving Matthew relieved and relaxed, knowing that his former lover was still alright and could still be redeemed. From that moment, Matthew would never take the chance of losing Elektra ever again, but Elektra on the other hand felt different; she was exhausted of convincing others on her carefree lifestyle and egocentric point of view, including the man she truly loves.
A New Start
As a few years follow, Elektra lived her life the way she intended to be without any influence telling her who she was or had to become, such as a warrior in the war against Hand or the Black Sky, utilizing the greatest potential of her skills by pursuing a freelance assassin and mercenary-for-hire with no problem getting highly-paid to kill the greatest of criminals and corrupt figures in the country, a reputation that led to her eventually becoming one of the Kingpin's most proficient assassins in his secret underworld empire after Ultimate War and was even considered to be his right hand, only for Elektra to decline the offer, something that most criminals would only dare to dream of achieving, when she realized through Murdock's point that Fisk was only little different than the people she's taking out for the out of his biddings, despite his pledges in saving the city from chaos, something that Fisk was responsible was causing. With this, Elektra assured to everyone that she no longer cared about loyalty, speaking from experience.
However, in spite of all the cold façade and cruel approach she gives off as an assassin, Elektra knew that this was merely the dark, negative, and detrimental aspect of her self because deep down in her broken heart, she still secretly longs for her caring side, something that she hasn't truly felt since she was with Stick and Matt Murdock. Nevertheless, it was not long during Norman Osborn and H.A.M.M.E.R.'s Dark Reign over the country when Elektra found out about her true parentage when she and Daredevil discovered the survival of the Hand under Tomi Shishido, her long lost father. After helping Daredevil defeat Bullseye, who was under the guise of Hawkeye for the Dark Avengers, and unhesitatingly have herself defecting from Fisk's empire, Elektra and Daredevil, along with some of his allies, joined forces once more (albeit reluctantly) to investigate and confront her old man and bring down the Hand after finding out that they're one of Fisk's most powerful yet most secretive benefactors.

Trivia
- Despite her attempts to redeem herself from a life of merciless killings, Elektra believes that being bloodthirsty has always been her nature, contrary to Matt Murdock's persistent hope and belief that she can still change her ways for the better, with Matt pledging on his life that he would keep on helping her do so, no matter how long it would take him.
- As of the late 2010s, specifically during Norman Osborn's Dark Reign, Elektra was known to have a kill count of at least 900 people, if not more, according to H.A.M.M.E.R.'s superhuman database. Hearing this, Elektra humorously remarked that she only regretted killing a few among her body count.
