Earth-7620 is a universe in which the timeline has been changed by Reed Richard's use of the Immortus Engine and created a new timeline with considerable differences from the original. It forms the basis of a new 'Ultimate' version of Earth-762.
History[]
The Immortus Engine[]
The original timeline of Earth-7620 flowed much like that of Earth-762 with initially few differences. At some point however Reed Richards created the Immortus Engine, a powerful time travel device that allowed him to delve into the very edges of the timeline, which had previously been blocked to him. While he expected to discover the far flung future he instead discovered a fractured universe, devastated by the actions of the conqueror of time, Kang. Narrowly escaping Kang's clutches in the future Reed became determined to find a way to avert this catastrophe. He would use the Immortus Engine to see the points in time that would eventually lead to Kang's creation and destruction of time in an attempt to stop him, ignoring how each action was creating ripples and changes within his own timeline. Despite his efforts each time he looked into the future he saw a new apocalypse, each seemingly leaving only Kang victorious.
Reed would ultimately discover the true identity of Kang as that of a future version of his own young son Franklin and became obsessed with finding a way to change the future at any costs. Reed would partner with Nicholas Fury and Howard Stark to continue these efforts, the trio changing points in time that would include wiping friends and enemies from the timeline before they could carry out actions that would lead to future catastrophes. Fury and Stark however were selfish in their use of the Immortus Engine, all but wiping out the concept of superheroes and villains in their present without concern for the damage they were doing to the timeline. Meanwhile Reed could only think to the future, knowing that there was only one action he could take to avert it - remove his own son from ever having existed and destroy the Immortus Engine so that Fury and Howard could not use it again. The latter two would discover Reed's plan and attempt to stop him only to find that Reed, in his genius, had anticipated this and had already acted, removing Franklin from existing, destroying the Immortus Engine and, in the process, seemingly dying.
Susan Richards, grief stricken over the death of her husband, and with hers and the universes knowledge of Franklin's existence having been wiped, discovered records of Reed's work to avert the coming end of time and became determined to discover the truth, while Fury and Howard tried to find a way to recreate the Immortus Engine to continue their grip over the present timeline. Ultimately she would discover that Reed was still alive, having faked his own death, and forced him to admit what he had done. Heartbroken over how he had wiped their son from existence, a son she couldn't even remember having, Sue recognised that her husband had been driven mad with guilt over his own actions and had become little more than a villain. She also discovered that he had never destroyed the Immortus Engine, and that he was planning to wipe out this timeline entirely and rebuild it in a better image. Fury and Howard, having tracked the pair down to Reed's secret fortress in Latveria, would attack, battling with Reed for control of the Immortus Engine. Reed, listening to Susan's pleas and realising that his own actions had done irreconcilable damage to the timeline that would ultimately doom the universe, would use the device one final time to try and restitch the timeline together, killing Fury and Howard in the process. His efforts would create a new timeline, stitched from the remnants of what remained of the original but considerably changed as a result.
The New 7620[]
The reality created by Reed Richards and his use of the Immortus Engine was considerably different to the original, the butterfly effect of his attempted changes creating a new history for the Earth. While the literacy geography of Earth hadn't changed, the geopolitical climate very much had, with Earth now divided into ten geopolitical regions, the American Union, Atlantis, the Eurasian Republic, the Great White North, Hi No Kuni, Kemet, the Society of South America, the Realm of Britannia, the Wakandan Empire and the West European Coalition.
