Potentia is a monster made from the bodies of fallen Gods, and is a frequent enemy of The Sentry, and The Avengers.
History[]
Douglas States, otherwise known as Potentia, was created by the genius teleported Dr. Crolore using the corpses of slain Gods, for the sole purpose of defeating the monstrous godkiller Mangog. Before Douglas could set out on his goal, he had to come of age and be ready. And in order to prepare him, Dr. Crolore created machines all for the purpose of training the young Douglas. Dr. Crolore was a genuinely good father, raising Douglas with love and care alongside his psychic sister Jannie States. As Douglas and Dr Crolore celebrated the former’s 20th birthday however, they Jannie burst their home apart, as she was being taken control of by the Phoenix Force and could not control herself. The Avengers arrived on the scene, and long story short, The Sentry (Who was an Avenger at this time.) ended up killing the girl on accident. In a fit of rage, Douglas attacked him and the Avengers and due to how tired they all were, he nearly defeated them, until Thor & Sentry combined their power to send Douglas to the other side of the planet. That day forward, Douglas hated The Avengers (especially Sentry) with all his heart, and made it his new purpose to destroy them, giving himself the name Potentia, and battling heroes in his need for revenge.

Superhuman Strength: Potentia is a physical powerhouse, with a vast amount of strength feats, including: smacking the Juggernaut into orbit with a backhand, knocking out Abomination and Ulik with one punch, beating the Silver Surfer half to death, and easily manhandling the likes of Sentry, Thor, Hulk, and Wonder Man. However, those are far from his most impressive strength feats. He has harmed the Mad Titan Thanos, even knocking out one of his teeth. When he matched the Mad Titans strength, the two split the planet beneath them completely in half. He once even lifted the weight of three neutron stars combined.
Superhuman Speed: The sheer physiology of Douglas allows for his speed to be incredible. He has flown to the sun and back in an instant, flown across galaxies in seconds, appeared in different universes instantly through sheer speed. His body is capable of moving at the same speed he can fly at, meaning his speed correlates to:
- Superhuman Reflexes: The reflexes of Potentia allows him to react to highspeed attacks & opponents with ease. He has dodged and reacted to the attacks of Silver Surfer, Thor, and Sentry in combat, all of whom are incredibly fast. He has also dodged laser beams with casual ease.
- Superhuman Agility
Invulnerability: Being a beast made up of Gods, Potentia has absolute invulnerability, able to tank planets blowing up beneath him, blasts able to destroy whole star systems, and heat from the heart of stars. He has taken strikes from some of the strongest beings around. Potentia has taken hits from Sentry, Thor, Hulk, and even Thanos, and was never truly hurt. Even a full on blast from Galactus didn’t knock him unconscious (although he was badly hurt). He is completely immune to disease, toxins, poisons, radiation, electrocution, and plenty of other stuff.
Regeneration: If Potentia does somehow sustain an injury, his accelerated healing enables him to regenerate damaged or destroyed tissue instantly, with little apparent pain. He will apparently heal from any injury. For instance, Potentia has regenerated from one lone molecule from his body.
Immortality: Potentia is completely immortal. He is not at all affected by ageing, and although he can be wounded, he cannot die by conventional means. No matter how old Potentia gets, he will always remain in his physical prime.
Flight: Potentia is capable of unaided intergalactic flight.
Superior-senses: These take at least two forms, though there are possibly more. Hyper-Vision, evidenced as analogous to telescopic vision, microscopic vision (at least to a molecular level) and the ability to see through any substance. Hyper-Vision also boosted a time-viewing machine to enable it to view the past of another planet rather than the one it was situated on. Potentia also has some form of super-hearing as he was able to hear Peter Parker’s ultra-sonic signal watch and listen to a conversation taking place thousands of miles away.
Telepathy: Potentia has demonstrated some mind control abilities, even across a great distance and over as many people as a whole continent. He has demonstrated capable of reading others' thoughts or feelings. Potentia has also demonstrated the ability to project sounds and images directly into another person's mind.
Energy Powers: Potentia can emit a range of energy powers from his hands, eyes and in one case his foot. His energy has shown to be potent enough to render Beta Ray Bill unconscious and gravely burn the Hulk. These have taken the forms of hyper-charges, which are capable of killing or rendering a target unconscious, the extremely powerful hyper-obliteration charge, as well as hyper-disintegration beams. His hyper-energy can also be shaped to make objects, such as nets, barriers and forcefield bubbles. He is capable of enhancing his strikes with energy, to the point he can strike a decently fed Galactus, break his armor, and make him yell out in pain.
Telekinesis: Potentia possesses a very powerful form of telekinesis which he has used in many ways, to lift objects as small as Nanobes, or as large as UY Scuti. He is able to rain "remote-control blows" on an enemy from a distance, to shape water into tidal waves, to choke Sentry with his own cape and to repair a shredded parachute, amongst others.
Frost Powers: Potentia can generate hyper-frost from his mouth, eyes, or hands to freeze a target. He can use this to freeze a person solid, even someone like Thanos. This condition wears off in the span of 3 hours, leaving the subject unharmed.
Cosmic Manipulation: Potentia can create, shape and manipulate cosmic energies to produce nearly any effect they desire, including the molecular restructuring and transmutation of matter, the manipulation of matter across space and time, the creation of force fields, the creation of inter-dimensional portals and vortices, telekinesis, and cosmic awareness. Potentia can call upon the comets, meteors, asteroids, stars, moons, planets, nebula, quasars, and dark matter. He can generate stellar winds, solar flares, cosmic storms and invoke meteor showers.
- Cosmic Energy Manipulation: Potentia can create, shape and manipulate cosmic energy that's drawn from stars, planets, galaxies, etc.
Celestial Manipulation: Potentia can create, shape and manipulate the skies and cosmos with heavenly influence, including all the aspects of the astrological, divine, elemental, mythical and cosmic powers.
- Celestial Combat: Potentia is able to utilize various celestial bodies/objects such as galaxies, planets, stars, universes, etc. with his physical combat, granting him both vast power and flexibility to use several different powers. While this makes Potentia extremely powerful, it is also difficult to control.
Black Hole Manipulation: Potentia can create, shape and manipulate black holes, a region of space time where gravity prevents anything, including light, from escaping. Potentia can control the size of black hole, and move it around in space to "suck up" everything in its path. Black holes can allow the Time Travel to the future: their immense gravity slows time (this effect increases with proximity). A few minutes or hours may pass for the user near the event horizon, and when they leave, they may find it's hundreds of years in the future.
- Black Hole Creation: Potentia are able to create black holes that can virtually suck in matter and energy. Gravitational Singularity Generation, Nothingness Manipulation or Space-Time Manipulation are needed in order to create black holes. Through Gravitational Singularity, the victim will be ripped to shreds when they enter a black hole. Their body would be stretched apart to a point of compression, causing a lot of pain and suffering. When they enter into a Gravitational Singularity, they would be erased to nothingness as body molecule, matter and energy will be absorbed, causing instant death.
- Black Hole Stabilization: Potentia can stabilize black holes regulating them partially or completely, allowing the black hole to be contained and preventing it from absorbing nearby matter.
Quasar Creation: Potentia can create quasars (quasi-stellar radio sources), energetic and distant members of a class of objects called active galactic nuclei. They are amongst the largest single objects in the known universe. Quasars are luminous and were first identified as being high redshift sources of electromagnetic energy, including radio waves and visible light, and appeared to be similar to stars, rather than extended sources similar to galaxies. Their luminosity can be 100 times greater than that of the Milky Way. Most quasars were formed approximately 12 billion years ago, and they are normally caused by collisions of galaxies, with the galaxies' central black holes merging to form either a supermassive black hole or a binary black hole system.
Solar Energy Absorption: Potentia can absorb solar energy, while removing it from the source. He acquired this power in order to better counteract the Sentry.
Life-Force Absorption: Potentia can absorb life-force/energy, vitality and health, while removing it from the source, into his body and use it in various ways. As many superpowers are derived from life force, Potentia may be able to absorb them from the targets. Any attacks derived from superpowers are also vulnerable to such abilities, as the energy and matter produced contains their life force, which can be drained, rendering the attack useless. Extended drain may result in extended or permanent effects, or even death.

Master Combatant: Potentia is a master of a variety of hand-to-hand combat skills. Potentia is one of the most talented and ruthless fighters that has ever fought on Earth, opting to take down opponents as quickly and painfully as possible.
Master Martial Artist: Potentia is a master of over 80 Earthly fighting styles.
Super Genius-Level Intellect: Potenia has superhuman mental acumen. He is (in theory) capable of knowledge and comprehension beyond the human ability to understand. He is potentially capable of mastering every worldly subject and capable of adopting concepts completely foreign to his environment. His ability to predict probable outcomes of tactical and strategic scenarios is so advanced that it borders on clairvoyance. His intuition is heightened to the degree that his hunches are almost always correct. Potentia has a perfect memory with the ability to recall every moment since he was created. Potentia possesses knowledge of genetics, physics, and robotics, and has designed a large number of sophisticated weapons, vehicles, computers, androids, and synthetic humanoids. He is particularly adept at genetic engineering and manipulating radiation for various purposes.
Polymath: He has studied Biology, Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Mythology, Geography, & History. Gained degrees in Criminal Science, Forensics, Computer Science, Chemistry and Engineering, he has mastered Diverse Environmental Training, Security Systems, and illusion/sleight of hand, he gained even more degrees in Biology, Physics, Advanced Chemistry, and Technology, he had learned Forensic Sciences, Medical Sciences, Expanded Computer and Engineering Sciences, improved material sciences for body armor and micro-machinery, he has also learned Advanced New Development in Forensic and Medical Sciences by the time he was created.
Master Hacker: Douglas can hack very advanced computer systems, it doesn't matter whether they are alien, futuristic, or if they were engineered by Dr. Doom, if he wants in he's getting in.
Master Strategist and Tactician: He is an accomplished strategist. He had been widely considered one of, if not the greatest, tacticians on the planet, both on and off the battlefield. He is able to formulate battle strategies and his brilliant tactical sense allows him to alter any strategy to fit the changing need of the situation.
