Donald Blake is the reincarnated form of the Norse god of thunder, Thor.

History[]

During a failed attempt by Loki to incite Ragnarok, Thor briefly became All-Father before his death and, fearing an eternity trapped in the halls of Valhalla, used the All-Father's power to create an alternative. As a result Thor and a number of other members of the Aesir were reincarnated on Midgard in human forms.

Thor was reborn as Donald Blake, son of Stan and Kirby Blake. He had a relatively ordinary upbringing, until during his mid-teens he began developing what appeared to be electrokinetic powers. Given the stigma against Mutants, Don kept his powers hidden from everyone except his parents. He proceeded to go about life as normal, eventually studying medicine and becoming a doctor.

Unfortunately, Don's medical career somewhat fell apart when a defibrillator malfunction led to him using his electrical power to resuscitate a patient. This was witnessed by a couple of nurses, one of whom reported it. Concerned by the liability of having a superhuman on staff, Don was let go from his position, and found himself unable to get a job elsewhere. That was, until he was approached by SHIELD, who felt that his superhuman abilities and medical expertise were ideal for a field medic position.

This job was somewhat short-lived, however, as barely a year into the position he received news that his parents had died in a car crash. Returning home to settle their affairs, he fell into a deep depression, during which he reached a figurative rock bottom. At that point, he began experiencing vivid dreams where he was the god of thunder, Thor, waging battles across various realms. Over several weeks the dreams became more and more common, until they began appearing to him while awake. Under the assumption his depression was causing some kind of bizarre dissociative episode, he sought out help through SHIELD. Though at first he was treated by psychologists, an attempt at 'psychic therapy' revealed that the dreams weren't just ordinary dreams, and in fact were astrally indistinguishable from memories.

Attributes[]

Powers[]

  • Superhuman Strength: Don's strength is incomparable to that of humans, being able to lift well over 100 tonnes.
  • Superhuman Speed: He is able to outrun many wheeled vehicles.
  • Superhuman Reflexes: His reaction times are incredibly fast, which combined with his speed allows him to very quickly prepare himself for incoming threats.
  • Superhuman Stamina: Don's body experiences very little fatigue during physical activity, allowing him to go on for abnormally long periods of times.
  • Superhuman Durability: His body is extraordinarily resistant to injury, being able to be hit by trucks and many projectile weapons with little-to-no injury at all.
  • Healing Factor: On the rare occasion Don is able to be injured, he heals at a superhuman rate, and is able to recover from broken bones in a matter of hours, and most scratches and bruises are gone within minutes.
  • Weather Manipulation: Don is able to create and control storms. As he has yet to reach godhood again, this ability is significantly weaker than his previous incarnation's. Though he can create storms, their strength is limited and often dissipate quickly. He primarily uses this ability to summon bolts of lightning.
    • When his powers first began manifesting, this ability initially presented as electrokinesis, as he could only generate electricity from his hands. However, his power grew over time until he could summon lightning and rain.

Abilities[]

Medical Training: Don is a doctor, and has a strong degree of medical knowledge.

Trivia[]

  • Although he is a reincarnation of Thor, Don has his only personality and life. Despite his memories of his previous life and embracing his role as a reincarnation of Thor, he sees himself as a distinct entity.
