Trivia[]

  • This is the fourth film in the Doctor Strange franchise, all of which have been directed by Scott Derrickson.
  • The alliance of the main heroes, Doctor Strange, Hulk, Valkyrie, and Namor is a direct reference to their history in the comics as the original Defenders.
  • Additionally, three out of four; Strange, Hulk, and Valkyrie all appeared in Thor: Ragnarok.
  • Michael B. Jordan makes his return to the MCU in this film since his character's death in Black Panther. He appears as a reanimated demon dubbed the Ghost Panther, which originally appeared in the Infinity Warps storyline, as a combination of Ghost Rider and Black Panther.
  • Several allusions to the Illuminati are made within this film, with Strange, Namor, and Black Panther all holding a brief discussion about the reemergence of the Infinity Stones.
  • Loki appears in this film only in female form, played by Rooney Mara. In addition to being a conscious character choice, it was also partially because Tom Hiddleston's schedule did not allow for him to appear.
