Early Years[]

Daniel Thomas "Danny" Rand (born April, 1982) was the only son and child of businessman and founder & CEO of Rand Enterprises Wendell Rand and merchant heiress Heather Duncan. During his early years of life he lived comfortably and wanted for not due to his parents wealth. Though because of his parents' status Daniel had a hard time making any friends, save for the children of his father's business partner and his honorary uncle Harold Meachum, Joy and Ward Meachum. The three of them being inseparable when growing up. That is until just after his tenth birthday while on a business trip towards Anzhou with his parents their plane became involved in a crash and landed smack dab in the Himalayas. The pilots of their plane having deliberately caused the crash on orders from Wendell's ruthless and greed business partner Harold, who had made a deal with the age old organization known as the Hand, to get rid of Danny and his family, so they could run Rand Enterprises how they pleased without any complications.

Though what neither Harold of the Hand knew at that time was that despite his parents both perishing Danny had miraculously survived the crash. After which he was found by Chodak and Tashi who took him to the eternal city of K'un-Lun, where he was then brought before its leader Yu-Ti, who offered the recently orphan young boy sanctuary. After which he was bestowed the name Kai. He would then over the next decade experience training in strict and harsh conditions, under the tutelage of Lei Kung, The Thunderer, Which despite, as an outsider many of the citizens of K'un-Lun rejected his very presence in their city, save for a few like Lei Kung's adopted daughter Sparrow, who became one of Danny's closest friends. The same could be said for his fellow student Davos. This connection, as much as his training, is what allowed Danny to not only survive but also excell, the years of years of training his body and mind turning him into K'un-Lun's most prodigal fighter. Yet Danny still carried unease in his heart. Seeing this Yu-Ti offered him a chance at the greatest challenge in the eternal city, which was the face the undying dragon Shou-Lao, the source of K'un-Lun's immortality. Accepting the offer Danny then did battle with the enormous fire-breathing beast in its cave, where he emerged victorious. Where he not only earned a dragon-shaped scar on his chest, courtesy of Shou-Lao during their battle, but also the very heart of the undying dragon itself. Which bestowed Danny with its mystic energies, turning him into the legendary guardian and protector of K'un-Lun the Iron Fist. A job which Danny began without question, until one day on guard duty he spotted a hawk flying overhead, and as it got further and further away Danny took it as a sign to return home to New York and get the answers to the questions that had been at the back of his mind for years. As well as reclaim his name. So with that he bid K'un-Lun farewell and started a new journey once again.
