History[]
Early Years[]
Born on the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation the mutant Daniel Lone Eagle (born May, 1955), or as he would most of the time be called simply in the future Forge, lived a particularly ordinary life. Until it was discovered he had a natural aptitude for the mystical arts. Once it was he was assigned to train with the tribes local shaman, a man named Naze. To not only harness and hone his mystical powers, but also in preparation to do battle with the the ancient and demonic entity known simply as the Adversary. Who Daniels' tribe had been watching over and keeping imprisoned for generations. Though the young man eventually grew to want nothing to do with his people's duty in regards to the Adversary. Especially after his mutant powers manifested, which gave him the unusual talent to invent any mechanical device he could think of. So with that Daniel shirked his duty, ran away from home, and joined the military.
Horrors Of War[]
After joining the military forge was immediately sent to the battle front. It was there he used his mutant powers to help his fellow soldiers. However once they discovered he was a mutant his entire squad secretly turned against him. Daniel being none the wiser. Until one day while out on patrol his squad came under enemy attack and he stepped on a landmine, losing his right hand and right leg because of this. Yet instead of helping him his squamates intentionally left him for dead. Faced with this betrayal Forge in his anger used his magic and sacrificed the enemy soldiers to summon forth the Advesary to the battlefield, and demanded it take revenge on his squamates for him. Which it did. But it also slaughtered his entire camp before taking its leave. Daniel knowing immediately what a terrible mistake he had made, but it was too late. As such he sank into a deep depression and even attempted to commit suicide by immediately walking back onto the battlefield. Only for a passing platoon led by former Division X member John Proudstar to stumble upon him and for John to personally stop him. No matter how much Daniel begged for death. Though eventually he calmed down and in his haste confessed all he had done to John. Who then told him he was a mutant as well. He also told him he knew a man who could help him. Thus after returning to the states John took Daniel to meet his old friend Charles Xavier.
Recovery & X-Men[]
Upon meeting Charles for the first time Daniel was sorely unimpressed. Especially since the man was repressing his own mutant powers. One of the things Daniel had come to learn from Charles about, in regards to his own abilities. This made him want to immediately leave Charles' school shortly after he stepped foot in it. Only to be stopped by John, who asked for a little time. Which Daniel gave. Then he found himself utterly surprised as how Charles acted once he began going through his own recovery. Seeing this made the Native American mutant have second thoughts about leaving. A decision he didn't come to regret. Since eventually Charles eventually did help him come to terms with his actions in Vietnam, as well as his own mutant powers. So much so Daniel built himself both a cybernetically new arm and leg. Then when Charles informed him he was going to re-open his school and asked him to stay Daniel agreed. Thus he became a teacher at the Xavier Institute. Then later a founding member of the mutant superhero team the X-men, when Charles and the others created it in response to their old friend Max Eisenhardt, who called himself Magneto, re-appearing with an army of mutant terrorist known as the Brotherhood of Mutants following him.
Once this occurred Daniel took on the codename of Forge. He also became the X-men, and the school's, personal engineer. Helping them both on the battlefield and off of it. The same way he did for the X-men eventual allies such as the Avengers, S.H.I.E.L.D. and even the E.D.I. The last of which is where he struck up a relationship with one of the Initiatives most brilliant scientist and agents named Roma. Who he eventually married. Though despite this neither of them stopped fighting for all that was right.
Though as time continued to pass Forge realized the X-men, and by extension mutant-kind, needed something more to protect them. To that end he got together with his closest allies and created a mutant intelligence agency/strike team that would proactively hunt down threats against their people. Which he named X-Force. An organization he personally decided to lead.
Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
Homo Superior Physiology: Forge is an Omega-level mutant. He has the superhuman intuitive talent for inventing mechanical devices and miscellaneous scientific understanding. His power as a mutant functions as a perception ability, as he possesses the capacity to visually apprehend "mechanical energy" (the kinetic energy and potential energy present in the components of autonetic systems) in action. Forge's mutation allows him to instinctively know and understand the potential and functional operations of any machine or technological device in his visual range, a skill that, combined with his natural intelligence, allows him to conceive, design, and build new devices, as well as operate, modify, disassemble, or create countermeasures against existing fabrications. He has been described as a technopath.
Shaman Powers: He also has a high mystical aptitude and has developed several magical spells, including a so-called "spirit sight," the ability to open portals to other dimensions, the ability to steal and use others' souls to enhance his mystical spells, and to separate his mind from his body and travel in a spirit form (similar to Professor X's Astral Form).
