Dalton Mitchell Cassidy was born to Cletus Cassidy's sister and Elias Emmett and was the older brother of Mabel Cassidy.
Early Life
After his mother died months after Mabel's birth, Dalton was mistreated and would be verbally abused by Elias due his close resemblance to murderer Cletus Cassidy, and because Elias blames Dalton for the death of his mother. This hatred for Dalton caused him to become introverted, usually rarely interacting with people and having suicidal thoughts due to the disrespect he was receiving.
Cletus Cassidy's Way
When he was a junior in High School, he met a girl named Margret and they formed a relationship. When homecoming came to his school, he asked her out, and she accepted. On homecoming night, he found out that she was cheating on him, causing him to go with Margret alone to the hallways and murder Margret by strangulation and was never caught. Since then, he's been coping through by drinking alcohol as afterwards, he felt guilty for what he had done and decided to drink his sorrow away.

- Creator's words regarding the inspiration: "When I first saw the episode, Dipper Vs. Manliness, I thought that Grunkle Stan and Mabel were bullies to Dipper and I felt like they always bullied him. This gave me the inspiration for Dalton because if Dipper had the same mentality as Cletus Cassidy, Stan and Mabel wouldn't exist anymore."
