History[]

Early Years[]

Carol Susan Jane Danvers (born October, 1976) was the second child, and only daughter, of decorated United States Navy captain Joseph Danvers Sr. and his wife, Marie Danvers. From a young age Carol had a strained relationship with her parents, namely due to the fact of how they treated her simply based on her gender. Especially her father, who could not accept woman as men's equals in anything. Though despite being exposed to such views Carol did not let is affect her relationship with her brothers, whom she was exceptionally close to, in particular her elder brother Steven who would stargaze with her outside many nights. Carol's fascination with the star and the skies being one of the leading factors that inspired her dream of one day becoming a pilot, specifically an astronaut. Her dreams so strong they manifested themselves in her drawings, where she would always draw planes or herself surrounded by planes, with a big smile on her face. She even hitchhiked once all the way down to Cape Canaveral to watch a rocket launch. However within her dreams Carol only ever imagined herself in the cockpit and never took any time to think on how each step of the process of learning to fly would feel. Instead always dreaming of doing things effortlessly.

But even when confronted with the reality behind her dream Carol was not swayed from following its path. Since she early on developed into quite a determined person. To even such a degree that she participated in numerous physical sports and activities growing up, despite how her parents felt about it. Since no matter how many time she got knocked down she always got back up. One of the many reasons she excelled in both baseball and track, even all throughout high school. Where once she graduated she applied straight for the United States Air Force. Even though her parents still didn't support her decision. In fact her father outright dismissed her dreams and instead offered to find her a good husband instead. His actions toward her led Carol to turn her back on him. Now even more determined than ever to follow through with her dreams.

Military Service[]

Getting accepted to the Unite States Air Force Academy Carol left her home the day her notice came in and didn't look back. Then upon arriving at the academy she took the oath of enlistment, where she then met her roommate, who would become a person extremely close to her, a woman named Maria Rambeau. The two woman quickly became fast friends and pushed each other, graduating first and second in their class respectively. They then both went to flight school together, becoming each others wingmen. After which they flew several successful missions together, both of them rising through the ranks. Until they both eventually decided to become test pilots. Leading Carol to flying an experimental jet at Karshi-Kanabad Air Base in Uzbekistan in the summer of 2005. But while during this flight she was shot down and captured by a terrorist leader named Ghazi Rashid, who then proceeded to torture her for information for several days in Afghanistan about Project: Acension, which the stealth plane she was piloting was apart of. Yet despite all she had endured Carol did not talk, then when she saw her chance she turned the tables and killed Rashid before escaping. Despite a broken leg and serious injuries due to her crash, on top of all the other wounds she had suffered.

Managing to reach a safe house Carol successfully made it home, where her actions in the field got her promoted to the rank of colonel. It also brought her to the attention of S.H.I.E.L.D. who sent one of their agents, a Michael Rossi to assess her, and when the assessment came back good Carol soon found herself working as a intelligence agent for Air Force Intelligence, working extremely closely with Rossi and S.H.I.E.L.D. Until in early 2007 she was appointed chief of security in Cape Canaveral on the request from NASA itself. Shortly after which she found herself involved with Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S. a joint venture between the US Air Force, NASA, and S.H.I.E.L.D. which was spearheaded by military scientist and robotics expert, Dr. Walter Lawson. Who she quickly discovered was an imposter, and an alien, when an advanced military robot known as Sentry #459 came to attack them one day, and when it did Dr. Lawson revealed his true identity. That of a Kree scientist, soldier, and spy, who went by the name Mar-Vell. Leaving Carol shocked. But soon she promised to keep Mar-Vell's identity a secret upon learning he was trying to stop his superior named Yon-Rogg from exterminating a group of peaceful faction of Skrull who had settled on Earth.

Marvelous Beginning[]

This led her to work secretly in concert with him for two years, eventually starting a relationship with the alien officer and scientist, until one day Yon-Rogg decided to stop waiting around and came after Mar-Vell and in turn Carol with his allies in Starforce. Leading the pair to involving Carol's old friend Monica, as well as meeting the then director of S.H.I.E.L.D. itself Nick Fury Jr. Who aided the group, and the Skrulls, against Yon-Rogg and his Kree forces. Where eventually the alien kidnapped Carol and stole the Tessaract to lure Mar-Vell into a trap. Taken to Kree spaceship where a device known as the psyche Magnetron was located Carol not only to sit idly by like some damsel sprung into action, inadvertently causing the psyche-Mangetron powered by the Tessaract to overload and bombard her with cosmic energy, that altered her physiology entirely. Giving her superhuman abilities and rewriting her DNA so that she became half-Kree.
