Ruler of an alternate future Earth besieged by Kang the Conqueror, Carelius advised his daughter Ravonna not to spurn Kang's romantic advances in order to protect their kingdom. Initially refused, Kang ordered his hordes to move against the realm. Carelius then became indebted to Kang's adversaries, the Avengers, plucked out of time and allied with him to resist the Conqueror's tyranny.
