History

The direct history of the shield isn't known. It is known that Cap got the shield from S.H.I.E.L.D. after they fished him out of the ice. The shield had been cracked in a fight with Ultron. Tony Stark had recovered the shield, and eventually it ended up in the hands of James Rogers. James used the shield to defeat Ultron and for a few years after that. It was only recently when he gave up being Captain America he gave the shield to Danielle Cage, the new Captain America.

Properties

The shield is a concave disk that is 2.5 feet in diameter, weighing 12 pounds. It is made of a unique vibranium and steel alloy that has never been duplicated. The shield has great aerodynamic properties: it is able to slice through the air with minimal wind resistance and deflection of path. After James got a new uniform from Riri they had also fixed the cracks in the shield from when his father fought Ultron.

Trivia

• When James had first given Dani the shield, Dani had assumed that she would have to give it back. At the time Megan, Olivier, Jimmy, and Lyra were there and they all understood that James was giving it to her to keep. It was only after defeating Annihilus that Dani began to understand that James wanted her to keep it.
