During the Battle of New York in 2012, Cameron found Captain America dead after the battle. He took the shield and he made it his own. Cameron became the next captain of SHIELD. In 2014, Cameron discovered SHIELD was infiltrated by Hydra, and he left the organization for good.

After the fall of SHIELD, Cameron founded his own team, known as the Invader Watch.
