Fitting, isn't it? The small-town girl becomes both more seen and more unseen at the same time. Fitting... and fascinating.

Bernadette Tozier was originally an RN in the 2060's. She loved her work, because she loved helping people. But doctors were rarely needed anymore, as technology mainly did the healing work that doctors and nurses once did. So Bernadette was a woman without purpose. With no job, and little social life, the vibrant young woman from Idaho had little to live for. But she searched out the doctor known only as Erskine. She begged him for some potential "enhancements" that could give her powers. He agreed, and granted her technology that enabled her to turn invisible and create energy constructs, much like the original Invisible Woman. Having what she wanted, she left.
Soon, she began having problems with her nanites. The technology was so amplified that she had trouble controlling her invisibility, so she called Erskine. He gave her the numbers of 3 other patients of his with "symptoms." They became the Fantastic Four of 2099. The years were great: the team had an unnatural kinship. The villains were plenty. And life was good.
But soon the group fell on hard times. More and more heroes popped up, lowering the need for their services. With nothing to do, the group often used their powers to fight each other. But salvation and sanity came in Kang's form. He briefly informed them on the passing of the Fantastic Four in the present day. He then told them this could wreck all of history, but if they went to replace the 4, it would be significantly less horrible. They all agreed, and despite the radiation of the portal, everyone came out OK. The radiation stabilized Bernie's powers, and together, the new Fantastic Four was born.
Powers and Abilities
Powers
Invisibility: Phantom has a metal coating over her skin that allows her to bend light. She can thus turn invisible, and can turn the coating itself invisible as well, allowing her to appear human.
Force Field/Constructs: Nanites implanted in Phantom's mind amplify brain activity, allowing her to create solid, yet invisible, constructs from psychic energy.
Time Travel: Phantom, like the rest of the F4, has the ability to transport herself between the present day and 2099.
