History

Roses are red, spiders are two, one comes in scarlet, the other's in red—Wait a second, that doesn't rhyme at all? How dare you!
Scarlet Spider

Early Years

Benjamin Richard Parker (born late 2010) is the one of the two children of the hero Peter Parker known as Spider-Man and Felicia Hardy known as Black Cat alongside his twin sister, Ashley. He was born even during the traumatizing days of the event known as the "Ultron Revolution," specifically between Year 1 and 2, in the underground city of Midtown, Manhattan, New York City. Growing up, he became more serious, ruthless, pessimistic and often depressive in elementary and high school. He was also raised with the assistance of his father and S.H.I.E.L.D.'s help in training young, enhanced individuals and at the same time he had to hide his powers and abilities from the public due to the request of his heroic parents. Ben was still in college when the villainous Ultron had returned to fulfill his vengeance against humanity.

Ultron Revolution

Prior to the events when his parents were so busy fighting for Earth's freedom against the corrupted machines while some of the heroes had already been dead or missing, Ben was taken into safety alongside the million other survivors into a secret underground mega-city the size of New York City (also located below and inside New York), developed by the Stark family, recently by Tony Stark, in case of apocalyptic emergencies. Due to the following recent events, Ben chooses to drop out of school, restrain himself from the public, and kept on improving his now-secret training even more so that he can finally and voluntarily join the battles of the waging war, despite his parent's unexpected disapproval after finding out that he had been training under the guidance of Deadpool and S.H.I.E.L.D. director Carol Danvers, alongside Ashley, and a few more trainees who were trained in secret. There, he had met several individuals who would potentially become part of the next generation of heroes and some of those were Jim Hammond (the next Human Torch), Valeria and Franklin Richards, and his long-time crush, and (eventual) friend: the notorious Hawkeye, Katie Bishop, who went on to become one of Ben's trainers and mentors.

Eventually, his parents finally agreed to let Ben use his special abilities for the greater good, and even told Ben about the things Uncle Ben had said to him before, that "With great power comes with great responsibility." He'd thought of it to be cheesy at first, but he then came into his senses and realized just how much important it is that he should be using his powers with responsibility and so much care, otherwise it would just cause chaos and danger towards others if he doesn't. His father Peter even gave him his old prototype suit in which he upgraded and adjusted it a little more to make it look more detailed, and after wearing it and finally used his powers for the safety of the innocent ones and also helped the superheroes against Ultron's long-time mayhem, he finally became the vigilante known as the Scarlet Spider. As a web-slinging protector Ben and Ashley came to be inspired and astonished by the heroic actions of their father's granted successor as the new Spider-Man, Miles Morales, whom they also idolized and often meet after a day of crime-fighting to simply hang out, train & spur under his original techniques, and ask stories from both his and their father's days as the tandem duo Spider-Men during Ultron Revolution.

However due to unknown reasons, Ben became so distressed and tired of his alter-ego, deciding to end his heroic career, not until another dark age when his father and mother became against and disapproved the rise of a new threat claiming themselves to be a part of a unknown organization known as the Empire. As a result, Ben blamed S.H.I.E.L.D. and its new director, Edward Stark for not taking full responsibility as the leader (unlike his old man) that caused his parents and several more people to be in harm's way. Stark disagreed, believing that it was his own parents' fault that led them into endangering themselves. Finally, Ben grew tired of what was S.H.I.E.L.D. had become since Danvers' retirement and leaves the organization without any hesitation. In order to continue his father and mother's duty, Ben put on his suit once more alongside his sister (the new Spider-Woman) and became the Scarlet Spider once again, working in the shadows from the discreet government.

Rise of H.A.M.M.E.R.

When Stark promoted his new governmental system to the public, Ben started becoming confused and wondered what was really the true intentions of Stark for S.H.I.E.L.D. and the current government. Ben also realized that everything started becoming much darker and weirder with the entire society, since Edward Stark had taken over S.H.I.E.L.D.'s directorate and somehow he even manages to convince the president to suddenly change the form of U.S.A's government, causing for the rise of this newly-developed organization known as H.A.M.M.E.R. to replace S.H.I.E.L.D., which was also led by Stark again. This caused for the Empire to secretly rise, signaling the upcoming resurgence of Hydra's new second generation.

One day, Ben, Ashley, and some of their older friends and mentors including Katie Bishop went into the Triskelion to try confront and plead to Edward, but they were interrupted by the guards, implying that they are not authorized to enter without H.A.M.M.E.R.'s new authorization code. They kept insisting and excuses that it was very urgent to see him, to the point where Ben shouts in front of the commander operative. Then all of the sudden, all the armed guards in the facility near them aimed their firearms, pointing at Ben and his companions and was ready to execute them. All the commander had to do was to say the words and they'll get shot at point blank range.

Thankfully, they were saved by the rescue mission of the Resistance, led by the Iron Metropolitan and the War Machine who manages to get them and a few redeemed operatives out of the Triskelion including General Thunderbolt Ross and the retired Carol Danvers (who were also in the building at the time), taking them into the headquarters and safe-place of the Resistance away from the superior empire.

Infiltrating H.A.M.M.E.R.

Later on, he would also agree on their suggestion on infiltrating the main headquarters of H.A.M.M.E.R., which is the Triskelion. Some disagreed, including Arno and Ross, although due to Jim Hammond's motivations, all of the members were convinced and finally, they began to plan their mission. Ben insisted for Katie to come with them to join the mission but she insisted and became furious at Ben, telling him that he should stop worrying and caring about her so much. He was unresponsive by her reply and he had no choice but to let her join the mission. He then told her to be careful out there but she didn't respond, before they left the safe-zone.

The first act of their mission was to sneakily enter the Triskelion, neutralizing every guard and operative in the building without getting caught by the supervisors, including Stark himself (even if he wasn't in the headquarters around the time). They obviously failed after Stark's lieutenants rushes into the scene to attack them. During the skirmish on Triskelion, the Scarlet Spider was battling several known operatives and mercenaries, one of them was the skilled Hitman and one of H.A.M.M.E.R.'s lieutenants, the Leader. Ben was almost killed by the Hitman when he took him down and was ready to pull the trigger on his head, but after applying every fighting style that he gained and learned from his training, he luckily defeats him and the rest, all at once.

He then proceeds to the mega-prison that was built for every member of the Resistance that H.A.M.M.E.R. had captured and helped all the prisoners escape the Triskelion, before it unexpectedly taken down by several air strikes led by the Winter Soldier's tactical Air Force, causing for the whole building to collapse. The destruction of the Triskelion was the first ever win they had achieved, marking the first step in ending the Empire. But somehow things became drastic after their teammate and friend Frank Castle, also known as the Punisher, was sadly killed by H.A.M.M.E.R. operatives days after. They immediately found and recovered his body in Central Park, in which they gave him a proper funeral the day after.

Frank Castle's Funeral

Ben was mostly present during Frank Castle's funeral since he was one of the young heroes who were subsequently inspired by the Punisher's actions, who ultimately sacrificed himself in order to steal the plans of the Empire (in secret), so that the Resistance can finally take down the tyranny of Edward Stark once and for all. Frank's mission was thought to be a failure at first, but it was immediately revealed that he did in fact, get all of the information and the resources for destroying the Empire from the within, and as a result, he caused the self-destruction of every base affiliated with the Empire.

Ending the Empire

Ben was deeply saddened by Castle's death, although it motivated him and the rest of his fellow trainees to continue the fight that he started it, and much better, finish it to the very end for the sake of humanity's freedom. Afterwards, the Resistance used the plans to discover the real strategic headquarters of H.A.M.M.E.R. which is located within several mountains of the Alps, not realizing that this was also the previous headquarters of Hydra's first generation. After figuring out the coordinates to the exact location, the Resistance planned their one last final mission and tactically goes to the Alps without getting caught (using their invisible Quinjets and the last known S.H.I.E.L.D. aircraft, the Zephyr One) and to eventually end the great suffering the entire world had to endure for a very long time.

During the final battle between the Resistance and the remaining forces of Edward Stark and H.A.M.M.E.R., Ben and the rest of his trainees were told by the older heroes to stay inside their Quinjets for the sake of their own safeties. As usual, the trainees strongly disagreed to their orders, and as a result, they managed to successfully escape the aircraft and decided to follow them so they can help the leaders of the Resistance. Before entering the secret H.A.M.M.E.R. headquarters, Ben even told Katie to stay inside but she refused, and even told him to stop worrying about her, just for once. Ben had no choice but to respect Katie's choice, though he never stopped from protecting her during the infiltration of the headquarters, much to her frustration and confusion.

The Confession

After the unexpected death of Edward Stark and the final defeat of H.A.M.M.E.R., everyone across the entire world joyfully and graciously celebrated, after peace and prosperity has been restored into society, thanks to the combined efforts of the Resistance and all the insurgence organizations who finally helped out the end of the Empire's tyranny, which reign for years. Because of it, Ben decided to finally tell her truest feelings to Katie and tell her how much he care about her, something that Ben could never do for the past several years.

During a celebratory party celebrated by the trainees, Ben thought this was the best time to confess his feelings to Katie, although unfortunately during his attempt on telling it to her, things didn't go the way he expected it to be. Seeing Katie spend her time with her fellow trainer and on-and-off lover David Alleyne (who Ben thought to still have feelings for Katie at the time), Ben realized one single thing, and that is that no matter what he does, he'll never get the chance to win her sweetest heart, and even if he did tell her his true feelings, the results would still be the same.

So in Ben's conclusion, he decided to never tell Katie his feelings about her as not only did he thought it'd be weird due to their age gap, he also would rather remain his long-lasting friendship with her without telling her his feelings, than to tell her everything and then just lose her in the very end, just because of a painful rejection. Before leaving the party, Ben knew that what he did was what's best for him, and what's best for the two of them. The two would remain friends ever since, and as time goes by, their relationship grew a lot stronger than ever, despite Ben's struggle to keep his affection for Katie for so long.

Secret Wars

Before and during the premature death of the universe known by many witnesses as Secret Wars, Ben and the rest of the trainees were assigned to take down and apprehend a team of escaped super-soldiered criminals known as the Wrecking Crew, where they were almost successful in defeating the leader Wrecker, they were interrupted and noticed as they looked up to the sky, which suddenly turned red, and saw another Earth, the one from another universe, was looming above them.

Shocked and terrified, every distressed civilian and bystander among the streets started causing city-wide panic and chaos due to the unfortunate and explainable events they were seeing. The trainees and few other heroes tried to calm down and stop the civilians from panicking, but it was already too late. As debris and meteorites started falling from the sky summoned by an oddly strange phenomena, most of the civilians started rioting among the streets and some started breaking in buildings to loot, while some were helpless, unable to do anything. As a result, Ben and the rest of the heroes partook in helping those who needed help by guiding and transporting them into several evacuation zones under the cities.

Worried and nervous, Ben and Ashley tries to find his parents to know if they're okay. Finding out they were okay, both Peter and Felicia told Ben to stop worrying about them since they're already old, especially when "the world is coming to an end," because their lives are already coming to an end as well, unlike their children whose journey is still beginning. After telling Ben to find Katie and the rest of their friends, the four tearfully told their final goodbyes to each other, before leaving the evacuation center to find their friends.

The twins managed to find the rest of the heroes and thousand of civilians in an abandoned Ultron facility, ready to launch several spaceships. Unfortunate to them, the spacecrafts could only carry a limited number of the city's total population. As everyone gets on board, each spacecraft launches into the sky. Most of the heroes and civilians managed to finally get on board, except for those who didn't, most notably Ben, Katie, and the rest of the older heroes.

As the last aircraft loads its passengers, Ben insisted for Katie to get in the ship. Katie refused, and responded that she won't leave without these people left behind. Ben hesitated at first for what he was about to do, but he finally decided to do what's best for Katie and after he apologizes to her in advance, he unwillingly webs her while their were still inside the last spacecraft to keep her inside until it launches. Katie manages to break out of the webbing but not until the spaceship finally launched into the sky. Katie later tearfully and furiously questioned Ben why would he do such a thing to get her inside the vessel, though Ben didn't answer her questions, until later.

Ben seemed to have been left behind as the Earth from the other universe collides with theirs, until one life raft, driven and ridden by Arno Stark, Carol Danvers, and Jim Hammond came to rescue him. As the spacecraft leaves the Earth along with all the other vessels, Ben and the rest can't do anything else but watch the impending horror as most of the spacecrafts were obliterated by the incoming debris and meteorites that have been falling from the sky. Much to Ben's relief, the ship where Ashley and where Katie was in were both safe.

The Battleworld

Later, the life raft survived into what remained, Battleworld, a patchwork planet composed of the remnants of several universes, ruled by the omnipotent beings known as the Beyonders. The raft was ultimately found eight years later in a domain known as Utopolis. When it was opened, its occupants awoke from being in suspended animation. Ben and the rest remained behind in order not to give away their presence, and they were found by Katie and the rest of the surviving heroes of the Multiverse, when they investigated the supposedly empty vessel.

After the Beyonders have learned of the survivors, the Doctor Strange of Earth-61615 had them teleported away with magic to keep them safe, scattering them throughout Battleworld. Ben and Katie ended up in the Kingdom of Manhattan, a domain where the remnants of a universe similar to Ben and Katie's and another similar to Earth-61615 had been recreated but subsequently merged into a new temporary reality. Ben and Katie managed to convince its inhabitants, who didn't remember the world previous to Battleworld, to rebel against their rulers.

Before the Beyonders' Domain was assaulted by the enemies of the emperor, Ben, Ashley, and the Peter Parker and Miles Morales or Earth-61615, were recruited by Mister Fantastic to sneak into the palace and investigate the Beyonders' source of power. They came across the being known as the powerful and mysterious being known as the Beyonder, hidden in a secret chamber beneath the Domain. When they encountered him, they tried to convince him to help them overthrow his relatives in order to save and restore the universe back into its normal state. In the end, they were successful, with Peter pointing out that the only reason that the Beyonder was still alive was to only power up the Battleworld itself, using him as nothing but a battery. As they were leaving the chamber after learning that the Beyonder himself was the Beyonder's source of power, the Beyonder claimed that he was in debt with the Spider-Men for freeing him from the shackles of burden and liability given to him by his own kind.

Final Retaliation

During the ensuing attack against the Beyonders, Doctor Doom, who tried to steal their unlimited power for himself from the Great Mother in order to reshape the entire multiverse on his own hands, was confronted by Mister Fantastic, and ultimately, the Beyonder chose to give Reed the power that was once Doom's, leading to the destruction of Battleworld in the process. As everything went clear white, Ben and the rest of his closest friends and allies from his home reality, woke up in the reformed Earth-61615 instead of his home reality, but as if he had lived his entire life there, a new life, together with his closest friends who managed to make it through the rest of Battleworld.

This act of the Beyonder also caused the resurrection of Katie, who resurfaced with a new life in the mainstream reality with the rest of Ben's closest friends, much to Ben's surprise and joy to know that his special love was alive and well. As an act of thanksgiving for convincing him to rise up against the Beyonders, the Beyonder had made all of that possible. As an act of thanksgiving for convincing him to rise up against the Beyonders, the Beyonder had made all of that possible.

Brand New Life

In the wake of living in this new, brave reality, Ben and Ashley decided to start a new, normal life, and have decided to abandon his career as the Scarlet Spider. Despite his greatest desires to live his life in this new reality as a normal person, he was eventually challenged and tempted, after seeing his childhood friends once more, specifically referring to the Next Avengers, who were his former fellow trainees back while they were still on their home reality, but now they seemingly had enough training, and were now ready to protect the world from the greatest threats.

Even though Ben was tempted to show up to his old friends and join the team, he chose not to, seeing that they're already contented and were already happy, especially when he saw Katie smile once as she and her teammates cooperatively take down the Iron Avengers, a group of robots resembling the young heroes' parents, built by the Tinkerer and Whiplash. After seeing them defeat the robots by their teamwork, Ben realized that they won't be needing his help anytime soon. Living their perfectly normal lives, Ben took an internship at Horizon Labs, using his scientific aptitude to research and study more on bio-engineering and genetics, while Ashley went to a community college in Long Island, separating the two siblings from one another each and every year, except for the holidays, where Ashley returns to Manhattan to spend time with her lovely brother in his apartment.

Meeting His Old Man

While living his life as a intern at Horizon Labs, he came across several individuals whom he last remembered during Battleworld. Two of those individuals was his parents, Spider-Man and Black Cat, but not exactly his parents, since both Ben and Ashley's parents passed away during the incursions of Secret Wars. Those two individuals were the doppelgangers of his parents, who were still revealed to have been recently engaged and are much, much younger than theirs since they were only adults in this reality. One time, Ben eventually decided to finally visit his father's doppelganger in their home residence, in Queens, specifically during Christmas Day.

After nervously knocking on the Parker Residence's front door, Ben was happily greeted by his mother's doppelganger as she opened the door on him, who mistakenly took Ben for just a random caroler, to which Ben was stunned to see his mother this young and beautiful once again, before explaining to Felicia that he came upon to visit, because he was a friend of Peters. Ben then asked where his father's doppelganger was, who wasn't around at the time. However Felicia was confused with all his questions, thinking Ben was possibly some kind of spy of some sort, before asking him what was real reason for visiting their house. After Felicia's intimidation on Ben was making him feel more nervous, he decided to tell her the whole truth, which surprised her, causing for her to slowly break down in tears of joy, to see her son and find out that she and Peter actually had children.

A few hours when Peter had arrived home after a fight with the Wrecking Crew, Felicia finally introduced Ben to him and told him everything about Ben being their son in an alternate reality, to which Peter froze for a second, before immediately embracing both him and Felicia, since he already met him during Battleworld, who Peter had thought of him as a nice guy who Peter could relate to. The only question Peter had to Ben, was why didn't he tell him about it sooner. Ben smiled, before telling him everything else that he knew about them in his home reality. And after all the heartbreaking and heartwarming talk the three had on one another, they let Ben stay inside the Parker Residence for the night, for dinner, since it was Christmas after all.

Brand New Responsibility

Despite continuing to live a normal life, Ben would later find himself having a new, albeit momentary, responsibility as the next Scarlet Spider of the Modern Reality, approximately few months after the unfortunate sacrifice and death of Ben Reilly, this world's first and only Scarlet Spider, who has died after finally defeating his two new arch-nemesis, the Hobgoblin, a new Beetle, and their mastermind leader Miles Warren, at the cost of his own life trying to save his own rival and fellow brother at arms, Kaine Parker along with the rest of the Defenders during the final moments of the Genetic Vendetta. In the process, Benjy and his fellow displaced natives had adjusted living their double lives, operating as part-time heroes in the new world, while still being able to frequently return to their newly-restored home reality using the modern universe's Baxter Building's upgraded interdimensional portal.

Powers and Abilities

Powers

Mutation (Mutate)/Spider Physiology: The Scarlet Spider possesses superhuman strength, speed, stamina, agility, durability, reflexes, recuperative powers, coordination, and sense of equilibrium. The Scarlet Spider inherits his father's powers and abilities, which possesses the proportionate powers of a spider, granted to him from an genetically-altered, radioactive spider which bit Parker during his attendance of the exhibition. The radioactive, complex mutagenic enzymes in the spider's blood that were transferred at the time of the bite triggered numerous body-wide mutagenic changes within Parker, granting him superhuman strength, speed, toughened flesh, and numerous arachnid-like abilities. That mutation granted him an "enhanced chromosome pattern." Similar to his sister Ashley, Ben also got the special trait his mother had as his own, granting him the genuine abilities of causing "bad luck" towards foes and incoming attackers.
