History
Ben Grimm seemingly had a similar history as his Earth-616 counterpart. He first met Reed Richards and Victor von Doom while attending State University. Ben and Reed were roommates and became lifelong best friends. On the other hand, Ben and Victor didn't get along due to the latter's superiority complex. Victor and Reed became rivals, with Victor blaming him for an accident in his lab.
Years later, Reeds was constructing Excelsior until the government threatened to withdraw its funding. Desperate, he conspired to go on a test flight, with Ben as his pilot. Along for the ride were Reed's girlfriend, Sue Storm, her brother, Johnny Storm. When the ship was bombarded with an intense wave of cosmic radiation, the four developed superpowers. Returning to Earth, they decided to become superheroes as the Fantastic Four, with Sue nicknaming Ben "The Thing."
The Fantastic Four were among those teleported to Reality: MS-0815 through a rift and recruited by War Machine into the Avengers Alliance to oppose the reality's tyrannical ruler. This turned out to be Victor von Doom, who had received godlike power from Pandora's Box. They added a few of the interdimensional travelers into their reserves. Among them was Invisible Man, a variant of Invisible Man with Sue's powers. The two Johnnys would combine their powers to play elaborate pranks on Ben, much to the Thing's dismay.
