History
The Stark Tower was designed by Tony Stark with the intent to serve as a gleaming beacon of modern architecture. The tower is located at Columbus Circle in New York City, approximately 10 blocks north of the Fantastic Four's Baxter Building. Tony Stark maintains a New York residence there with Pepper Potts, and the top ten floors are reportedly taken up with advanced technological research and development. It also serves as a location that contains this reality's Iron Man's suits. The entire building is self sustainable, powered by an arc reactor, and its electronic systems are maintained by artificial intelligence F.R.I.D.A.Y. It was attacked by A.I.M., led by Titanium Man, whenever they were trying to steal the Iron Man suits but fortunately their plans were foiled by Iron Man soon after, with Titanium Man revealing that his former business partner Obadiah Stane was the the one that sent them. The Tower suffered minor damages but was quickly repaired by Stark.
Shortly after the Avengers parted ways from S.H.I.E.L.D., Stark donated the top three floors to serve as the team's base of operations, which he originally intended to use as his personal home. The Stark Tower's status as the Avengers' new headquarters resulted in the building being colloquially known as the "Avengers Tower."
