Avengers Initiative[]

Before the Avengers became what they were they were simply an idea. One known as the Avengers Initiative created by Nicholas Fury Sr. during his time as director of S.H.I.E.L.D. The basis of the project being to bring together a group of superhumans who would face threats to the world that no government or even S.H.I.E.L.D itself could handle. However Fury Sr. never got the project out of the theoretical phase.

It wasn't until the population of superhumans and superhero's exploded at the dawn of the 21st century that the program once again gained traction, now spearheaded by the new director of S.H.I.E.L.D Fury Sr. own son, Nicholas Fury Jr. Who found several candidates to add to the Avengers Initiative during his years as director. Candidates he would one day call upon, and whose actions when then change the world in numerous ways for years to come going forward.

A Day Unlike Any Other[]

When the Asgardian Prince Loki arrives on Earth and steals the Tessaract Fury Jr. regards it as a situation that no government of S.H.I.E.L.D could properly handle. As such he decides to implement the Avengers Initiative, calling on the candidates he has selected to be apart of it, which are the billionaire playboy and genius inventor Anthony Stark, the newly revived super soldier Steve Rogers, the size-changing couple Hank Pym and his wife Janet Van Dyne, and finally the gamma irradiated scientist Bruce Banner. Coming together they work with S.H.I.E.L.D, and track down and capture Loki, encountering his brother Thor in the process. Though that's just what Loki wants, as he skillfully causes the heroes to doubt themselves and each other, though they are already doing a good job of that themselves, given the clashes in personalities of the assembled group. All of which allows Loki to escape and summon the his army known as the Chitauri, given to him by the one the galaxies most dangerous individuals at the time, to Earth and begin a full scale invasion against it.

Faced with this the heroes put their differences aside and work together to beat back Loki and his invasion, also joined by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton in this endeavor, succeeding. After which the eight heroes decide to make their group permanent, to face threats no single one of them could beat alone. Thus on that day the Avengers were born.

Ultron Offensive[]

The Avengers next great challenge came when Hank Pym, with assistance from Tony Stark, finished his android Ultron. Who after being activated determined humanity was a blight upon the world itself. Thus the robotic creation decided to destroy it. With that it escaped the Avengers, destroying their headquarters Avengers Mansion in the process, and fled to the war-torn country of Sokovia. Where Ultron set up his base. He then began launching a series of attacks across the world. Leading the Avengers to, with assistance from S.H.I.E.L.D. to fight against the robotic menace. In the process of this Ultron sought to create a new body. So after acquiring Loki Scepter, which unknown to anyone at the time houses the Infinity Stone the Mind Stone, he used it to control the Avengers ally Dr. Helen Cho. He then used her expertise, along with his own, to create a new body. But before he could transfer his consciousness into it the Avengers intervened and stole it. Tony then convinced them to use Ultron creation against them, and as such they finished it giving birth to Vision. Who unlike his creator/father Ultron was entirely altruistic. Thus he worked with the Avengers to battle him. Where along the way the heroes received assistance from Black Panther, who became involved since Ultron had acquired Vibranium from Ulysses Klaue, and the mutant twins, and former terrorists, Wanda and Pietro Maximoff who were natives of Sokovia and found it despicable at what Ultron was doing to their home country. Thus in the end Ultron met his defeat during a final battle in Sokovia, that saw the Avengers new allies they had made during the offensive join their ranks. Marking a new chapter in the saga of Earth Mightiest Heroes, along with the transition to their new headquarters, Avengers Tower.

Though despite this joyous occasion the tragedy of Sokovia destruction overshadowed it. This event being what would eventually cause a single individual to throw the word into chaos in the future, seeking vengeance.

Hydra Uprising[]

Upon learning the old time terrorist organization Hydra was not only alive and well, but had been largely masquerading as S.H.I.E.LD., and infiltrating the highest echelons of power and influence across the world for decades, due to the efforts of their fellow Avengers Captain America and Black Widow, along with several of their allies from the true S.H.I.E.L.D., the Avengers once again found themselves facing a global threat. Made even worse by the fact they truly didn't know who they could trust.

As such during this time they largely relied less on government support and instead relied on the aid of their fellow superpowered compatriots, especially in other hero teams such as the heroic mutants the X-Men, the explorer/scientist the Fantastic Four, the Knights of New York led by the Defenders, the young teenage hero team the Young Avengers, and the E.D.I., along with what remained of her true S.H.I.E.LD. now led by the Avengers old friend Phillip Coulson. Along with the new members they gained in the form of Steve new friend, who was instrumental in exposing Hydra back to the world, Samuel Wilson, and the former brainwashed Hydra assassin turned S.H.I.E.L.D. special operative Jessica Drew, who went by the codename of Spider-Woman.

With of these groups and individuals by their side the Avengers went to work fighting and systematically defeating and dismantling the forces of Hydra, until the organizations leaders took new measures after seeing how far they were falling in battle.

Ultimate Alliance War[]

Recruiting the likes of Kingpin and his Criminal Empire, the deadly Mutant geneticist Mister Sinister and his band of Mutant followers, A.I.M. which was now led by the powerful yet highly unstable Graviton, the deadly Insidious Seven led by Norman Osborn, and others such as the Abomination and Yellowjacket, to their side Hydra forged a coalition of the deadliest individuals and some of the most powerful criminal organizations on Earth and turned it into a group known as the Cabal. Whose sole purpose was to defeat the heroes and their allies, and then bring the entire world to its knees. The Cabal sharing it amongst themselves in the aftermath of their victory. To that end they began an aggressive campaign to make their dreams into a reality, the group unleashing a series of deadly and destructive terrorists across the entire globe, targeting major cities such as Chicago, San Francisco, Istanbul, London, Egypt, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and several historic landmarks such as the Pyramids in both Egypt and South America, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Taj Mahal, Big Ben, the Great Wall of China, etc, only days after its inception. The Cabal's actions resulting in irreparable property destruction, and the estimated loss of over 500 million lives, with injury to over 100 million more in the aftermath of their attacks. Which in turn threw the governments of the world into panic and began sparking civil unrest.

Faced with this turn of events the Avenges, other heroes of the world, and their allies ended up uniting in a way unlike ever before, to face this Ultimate threat. Leading to the formation of the organization that became the anti-thesis of the Cabal, which would be so named the Ultimates. Who in the end ultimately triumphed against the alliance of criminals and villains.

Though the scars left in the aftermath of the clash of these two groups were deep, and would greatly contribute to the next major event that would engulf the world, but namely the superhuman community in particular, and inadvertantly lead the Avengers to become disassembled.

Civil War[]

Calling for even stricter regulations on superhuman individuals, especially those who called themselves heroes, the leaders of the world, through the United Nations proposed a bill that would force such individuals to register themselves and adhere to strict government oversight, the law itself becoming known as the Superhuman Registration Act. A law that Captain America vehemently opposed, believing it was too much of an overreach. Though many disagreed with him, including his fellow Avenger and team Co-Leader Iron Man, who opposite of the captain threw his full support behind the act. Believing it to be just the thing the world needed after all that had happened to it in the past few years. The differing opinions of the two Avengers leaders dividing the group itself, and a large portion of the superhuman community. Until after an attack on the U.N. at a summit to discuss the act itself led the two men and their factions to go from words to proverbial fists as the U.N. incident kicked off a civil war within the Superhuman community, leading the Avengers to divide themselves and leave the world without its mightiest heroes for quite some time.

Road to Reassembly[]

Following the end of the superhuman civil war, where Iron Man pro-registration faction emerged victorious the world went through a succession of quick changes. The first of which came in the form of dealing with the alien shape-shifting race known as the Skrulls, secret invasion of Earth. An incident that led to the psychopathic Norman Osborn gaining a chance to convince the world he was a changed man, which believed and began supporting his claims, due to him killing the Skrulls queen and leader Veranke, which ultimately brought an end to the alien races invasion of Earth. This led to Norman Osborn rise to power within the superhuman community seemingly overnight, until eventually he ousted Iron Man and his closest allies and took the reigns of leading the community himself. An act which consisted of dismantling the newly re-legtimized S.H.I.E.L.D. and replacing with an highly aggressive organization known as H.A.M.M.E.R. to say nothing of the underhand and heinous tactics Osborn began employing to keep his hold on the power he now wielded. Which included threatening and blackmailing superhumans, to even forming his own twisted version of the Avengers with himself as its leader. Iron Man and his allies left virtually powerless to stop Osborn Dark Reign of terror. Leading some in Stark's camp to follow the actions of Rogers and his faction, going against the government to do what they believed was right. Their actions, along with others, ultimately leading to Osborn eventually downfall in early 2018, after he and his forces were defeated as they attempted to lay siege to Asgard.

Yet despite this the registration act still remained in place, thus the Avengers, who had put their differences aside to defeat Osborn and protect the home of their fellow Avenger Thor, still found themselves at odds.

Due to this divide they were severely weakened and un-organized when only a few months after Osborn reign was ended they were unprepared to face the biggest threat they had encountered so far. Which was the intergalactic tyrant known as the Mad Titan Thanos. Who was inadvertently responsible for the Avengers formation years earlier, given he was the one who supplied Loki with the Chitauri army. A fact the Avengers and their allies would come to learn as they battled against the Mad Titan and his forces to keep him from claiming the Infinity Stone embedded within Vision, to keep him from bringing his plan to erase half of all life in the galaxy to fruition. A mission they failed at, Thanos eventually obtaining the final Infinity Stone during a climatic battle in Wakanda, where he erased half of all life in the galaxy with a simple snap of his fingers, this incident eventually becoming known as the infamous Snap, before escaping to parts unknown. Leading the entire universe in complete and utter disarray, and the Avengers broken like never before.

Though eventually they picked themselves up. Where after they, along with what remained of their allies, charged off to face Thanos once again, after learning his location after almost two years of searching, and this time emerged victorious. Undoing the decimation the Mad Titan had inflicted.

Then later as a United front, do to having settled their differences, Captain America and Iron Man stood before the United Nations and demanded the Superhuman Registration Act be dismantled, since they both agreed it played a large part in what led to Thanos first victory. The leaders of the world unable to argue with the two heroes. Thus the period of separation amongst Earth's Mightiest Heroes finally came to an end, and the "Avengers Assemble!" once more, now stronger and more sure of themselves than ever before.

Mightiest Heroes Once More[]

Whole once again the Avengers got back to doing what they do best, but after facing off against the foreign superhuman team known as the Liberators, created by their latest great adversary Intelligencia, led by the powerful scientist triumvirate consisting of the Leader, the Inhuman Maximus, and the last remnants of A.I.M. now led by the Scientist Supreme M.O.D.O.K., and dealing with the aftermath of the final stand of Mister Sinister, whose deadly Legacy Virus not only dealt another devastating blow to the world population, but specifically to Mutant-kind, the heroes realized they needed to evolve even more, lest they one day ends up with another Thanos situation. As such they decided to spread out all across the world, and after receiving approval from the United Nations the Avengers recruited members to represent in various countries, this their international division was born. The division itself becoming invaluable when the last remnants of their last greatest enemy Hydra created the Secret Empire, and once again almost shattered the Avengers, once the infamous Red Skull used the powerful Object known as the Cosmic Cube to convert Captain America into the fascist and ruthless Hydra Supreme. But just like with other daunting situations they had faced the past the Avengers didn't give up, instead finding a wry to turn their long-time friend and teammate back to normal. Only for him to sacrifice his life to finally put an end to the Red Skull and his plans. Leading to a world-wide period of morning for the legendary Steven Rogers, who the Avengers all knew embodied the best of what they had to offer.

Instead of allowing Steve death to break them the team rallied together, to make sure his sacrifice would not be in vain. Leading them to continue to protect the world Rogers had given his life to save. Though with this came a change in the teams leadership as Iron Man felt he needed to step down. Thus the Avengers now found themselves led by the Cosmic Avenger Captain Marvel, who has decided to accept the leadership role on the team after being voted into the position, and Samuel Wilson, who had taken up Steve mantle, at the man's request, and was now the new symbol of inspiration as he donned the mantle of Captain America. Allowing the Avengers to continue to face threats no single hero could defeat alone.
