After coming together to defeat the Hulk, S.H.I.E.L.D got an idea and formed a peace keeping team named the Avengers. Hulk later joined the group, becoming an ally rather than an enemy.

History
Beginnings
After the scientist Dr. Bruce Banner transformed into the mindless beast known as the Hulk. A group of heroes came together and defeated him. A few weeks later, S.H.I.E.L.D director Nick Fury called them in and proposed the idea of forming a peace keeping team to protect the Earth from threats no lone hero could take on alone, they agreed and the Avengers was born. Later on Bruce Banner was offered a place on the team and he accepted.
Disbandment
In the year 2025, superheroes were made illegal by the newly elected President John Damien, thus ending the Avengers superhero activity. In 2038, an illegal successor team was formed; The Ultras.
