Trivia

  • Similar to Avengers: Endgame, the film uses time travel as a plot device to introduce the multiverse in the aspect of alternate timelines. While this MCU's X-Men: Extermination Agenda, The Uncanny X-Men, and Fantastic Four: Divine Time has debuted and shown the existence of alternate futures in-universe, it was never thoroughly explored and elaborated until this film came out.
  • The films shows and features Thanos (Josh Brolin) as a character who was more than just someone who merely dedicated his life in order to save the universe from degradation. Along with it, it was revealed that Thanos has become obsessed with death itself, as its personification (Eva Green) often appears in his mind during his quest to tip the universal scale to balance. Through this development, his character has evolved, or devolved depending on the perspective, into a more unhinged individual than he already was in the beginning.
  • Speaking from an out-of-universe perspective, the direction of this film's theme, story, and pacing is also partly inspired from the real world 2020 DC Animated Movie Universe film, Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, though other aspects of the film were also inspired from both Avengers: Endgame (2019), X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014), and the second season episode from DC's Legends of Tomorrow, titled "Aruba".
    • The story in the original timeline wherein Thanos became the victor against Earth's superheroes was also inspired from the "Thanos Wins" comic book arc from the Thanos run (2017-2018) by Donny Cates.
  • Instead of being completely killed off in the resolution, the present timeline Tony Stark only ended up getting in a coma after the final battle against King Thanos, similarly in the way his mainstream comic book counterpart experienced the same outcome against Captain Marvel in the Civil War II event.
