Alchemax had been making serums on how to cure humans that have terminal diseases such as AIDS and cancer and to make humans not affected by those diseases. They ended up experimenting the serum with several different animals however they all died or got wild when injected with it. They would end up using spiders as test subjects later down the road. One day, Alchemax scientist, Dr. Kakuji would steal one of the spiders to him with Yasogami University. During this, the spider's container would get shattered and it would escape to the room with the radiation ray on the campus where a group of high school students were on a field trip. It would then get exposed with the radiation ray and become radioactive. Shortly after becoming radioactive, the spider would bit Jun Katsuragi on the hand but would get stomped and killed by him after he was bitten.
