Anya Corazon (Earth-559423)

Just like most of the heroes in our world, you put on that mask. Not to hide who you are, or what you feel, but to protect the people you care about and love from getting hurt by those who hate you. Seeing the good you do with that is what inspired us all into being what we are now, and do what must be done. And you know what that makes of you, Peter? Early Years

Born the daughter of Puerto Rican history teacher Gilberto "Gil" Corazon and Mexican artist Sofia Corazon, Anya grew up with an affinity for superheroes, including Captain Marvel, whom she once met at the age of six. After her father died protecting J. Jonah Jameson from a car burglar with a clown suit, Anya developed a hatred for Jameson, blaming him for Gil's death, and viewing him as a loveless coward. Later on, Sofia adopted Kamala Khan (whose parents were killed in their village by rampaging Wendigos), making her and Anya surrogate sisters who bonded with each other dearly.

In her teenage years, Anya met Gwen Stacy, who became her best friend, and she and Kamala developed a soft spot for Gwen's orphaned little cousin Cassie Lang.

After Gwen's widowed father George Stacy and Sofia were killed during a fight between Jameson's older son John Jameson Jr. / Captain Jupiter and Abomination, the girls begun living together in an apartment in Double X Inc. (an apartment building owned by Deadpool and Wolverine, as requested by Wendy Poole / Gwenpool), and swore to look after each other as a family.

Horizon High School

Sometime later, Anya and her roommates enrolled at Horizon High School, where they became top students. They also met and befriended the newly enrolled students, including Miles Morales, Ned Leeds, Lana Baumgartner Summers, and more eventually Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson; the latter sympathized dearly with Anya, Gwen and Kamala over losing loved ones. Anya and her friends also became great admirers of the new hero Spider-Man, who at one moment sought to stop a Vibranium machine (which was secretly sabotaged by Spencer Smythe) from destroying the school, although a small wave of energy absorbed and duplicated Spider-Man's DNA, and transfered it to Gwen, Anya and Miles. Later after the Vulture Trio were defeated and unmasked, and Smythe was exposed for sabotaging the experiment to frame Harry Osborn and arrested, Anya was among the students who learned that Peter was Spider-Man, and expressed support about it.

Later on, Anya, Gwen, Kamala and Cassie were allowed by Mary Jane to move from their apartment to her home in Queens, where they would continue looking after each other as family.
