History

The first time I put on this costume, it was for the glory. Now, I do it for honor.
Patriot

Andrew Cage is the second child of the former vigilante superheroes, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones. Being six years younger than his sister, Danielle, he always felt like he was growing up in her shadow.

After she became a vigilante herself, Andrew decided to one-up her and join the military, only to discover that his true desire was to follow in his family's footsteps. Modeling himself after his sister's identity as Ms. America, he became the Patriot, one of the world's premiere young superheroes, who made himself popular by being on the front lines of anti-police violence protests and helping negotiate peace talks in multiple hostage situations.

But just as Patriot's popularity began to rise, so did the amount of his enemies. He eventually found himself as part of a team fighting against the electrical creature known as Zzzax, who was able to unleash an attack large enough to kill Patriot.

He did not die, however. He was instead plucked from his reality by the Silver Sentry, who placed him onto Team X.

Almost immediately after his addition to the team, the others became suspicious of the Sentry's motives, and uncovered the truth of all the former Team X members. Freeing the survivors, they launched a rebellion and claimed control of the Nexus for themselves. Andrew used the Nexus to tell his parents he was okay, but agreed to continue working with Team X.

He would, however, ultimately meet his doom on one of Team X's most important missions. An alternate reality version of the Starbrand had embedded itself into Carol Danvers, who was going to overload with power. Having exiled herself to the moon, Patriot opted to use his own unbreakable body to shield the moon from the inevitable explosion and prevent its destruction. The act did, however, claim his life in the process. The Team then returned his body to his family for a proper burial.
