History
I know nothing I'm about to say will make any shred of a difference, but... I'm no master to you, Thor. I'm not even an Enchantress anymore... I am like all others. A pawn in Surtur's game.

Amora the Enchantress was always Asgard's most gifted sorceress. While she had a close relationship with Loki, it was always her older brother Thor whom Amora truly desired. However, this desire was unreciprocated, which led Amora down a dark path to becoming the feared Enchantress.
She was eventually offered membership into the Order of the World Tree by Malekith, and she reluctantly accepted. She was not fond of the bloodshed in the siege of the Nine Realms, but dared not speak out. She should have been happy. She even finally had Thor as her own personal Executioner. But her bound loyalty to Surtur had turned her into a monster and a slave.
