Growing Up in Russia
Aleksei Sytesvich was born to Miriam Sytesvich, who grew ill while Aleksei was a child. Seeking to provide for his ailing mother, Aleksei went into crime, acting as an enforcer for several major crime syndicates. Eventually, Miriam passed away and Aleksei moved to America to make a new life for himself. In New York, Aleksei fell back into crime where he met Herman Schultz, another petty criminal, and the two joined forces.
Becoming The Rhino
When Spider-Man began fighting crime in New York, Aleksei and Herman turned to the Tinkerer to design gadgets for them to stop the hero. Aleksei was given a suit of power armour patterened after a rhino, something which Aleksei himself had insisted on. The two began robbing several banks in a ploy to get Spider-Man's attention, but they were defeated when Spider-Man tricked Schultz into partially destroying the Rhino's armour and knocking him out. The Rhino was tricked by Spider-Man into revealing who supplied the weapons, and he was then taken into custody and imprisoned.
