Backstory

I really thought that I was goin' to have a regular life like everyone else after, believin' bein' a hero was nothin' but an unrealistic goal. But after discoverin' that I have gotten powers from a mysterious stone from outer space, I was a bit frightened at first but soon I began to realize that I was given a chance to prove myself that I can be a hero like my dad, or even the Avengers.
Starbolt

Early Life

Starbolt's life started in the foggy city of San Francisco, California. Born Ahmir-Jordan Kwame Washington, he along with his twin sister, Chayana, grew up in the Sunset District with his mother, Lisa Marie, a skilled seamstress with her own fashion boutique, and his father Charles, who worked as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., operating at its San Francisco branch. During the early years of his childhood, A.J. embraced his life in San Francisco, knowing almost everyone and going to every place in the city until he turned 10 years old, when his father was transferred to S.H.I.E.L.D.'s New York branch under the order of Nick Fury. A.J. and his family moved to New York City, residing in Forest Hills, Queens. At first, he wasn't fond of moving from the West Coast to the East Coast but eventually came around and started getting to know others, including his best friends, Jazmine Watley and De'Marion DaCosta.

By the time A.J. reached high school, he attended Midtown High School, the same school that a certain Avenger had attended before and after getting his powers. During his freshman and sophomore year, like every other teenager, he faced the ups and downs of teenage life, such as trying to fit in with various social groups. This led to him getting bullied, mainly by Butch Wellington and his stepsister Milan Vanderblit, and though their tormenting would mostly backfire, A.J. still found it unpleasant and there were times that he would not go to school because of the tormenting. But on the bright side, he started to enjoy attending Midtown High and made a fair amount of friends, including child prodigy Eureka Harris and former flunkee Luke Cage, helping keep him in place while trying to survive the depths of high school.

The Birth of Starbolt

By the time A.J. had reached his junior year, he had caught wind of the webslinging superhero Spider-Man, who had become a household name fighting everyday criminals, transitioning to superpowered villains that threatened New York City and possibly the world. Already showing interest in heroes through his father's career as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, A.J. commented that one day he might be the one saving people. Some of them took it as a joke, while Chayana believed that he would indeed be a great hero, but she reminded him that it would be a big responsibility to fulfill and that he should take it seriously. A.J. at first laughed it off, telling Chayana that he was only joking around, believing that becoming a superhero was nothing but a fantasy despite his interest in them. However, one event would eventually change his life and for the greater good.

One day, when A.J. was visiting his father at S.H.I.E.L.D., he stumbled upon him having a conversation with Fury, Phil Coulson, Black Widow, and Maria Hill, talking about the six Infinity Stones. A.J. wasn't familiar with the Infinity Stones, which Fury openly recounted the history and the abilities of, including one of them, the Space Stone which was concealed in a cube called the Tesseract. He even mentioned that there was a rumor about a "seventh" Infinity Stone called the Chroma Stone that was said to be the first to be created and having cosmic energy that was three times as strong as the others, making it insanely powerful, more so than the six Stones combined. A.J. tried to dismiss it, saying that the Infinity Stones didn't exist, let alone the Chroma Stone, but Charles informed him about the Tesseract, showing him the mystic relic in person. He mentioned that since the discovery of the Tesseract, S.H.I.E.L.D. had been working hard to pinpoint where the rest of the Infinity Stones were, as well as the rumored Chroma Stone, for they believed that someone was after them and if they fell into the wrong hands, it could mean destruction for Earth and the universe. Having heard enough of what Fury said, A.J. decided to go home while Charles tried to stop him, only to be held back by Fury, telling him that he would come around sooner or later due to him just being a teenager.

On his way home, A.J. was having a conversation with Chayana about his visit to S.H.I.E.L.D., telling her about Charles and Fury teaching him about the Infinity Stones, which she found interesting, until he noticed a flying object, ultimately revealed to be a futuristic fighter spacecraft, descending from the sky and crashing into the city. Taken aback by what he had seen, A.J. abruptly ended the conversation and rushed to the crash site. When he arrived, he saw that the spacecraft was totaled, revealing its engine, a rainbow-colored glowing hue emitting from it. He eventually found the pilot, a Kree named Jod-Stek who had been flung from the spacecraft, who took notice of A.J. and told him to help him destroy the Light-Speed Engine. But before Jod-Stek could take out his gun, he was shot by a laser bullet, killing him.

Horrified, A.J. quickly grabbed his gun when he was approached by a rogue Kree named Yon-Rogg who ordered him where the Light-Speed Engine was. Feeling intimidated, A J. gripped onto Jod-Stek's gun as the two had a back-to-back confrontation while he activated a silent alarm to S.H.I.E.L.D. When Yon-Rogg aimed his gun, A.J. stopped him and looked at the Engine and turned his weapon and before Yon-Rogg tried to reach for the engine, A.J. shot it, destroying the engine, resulting in a massive explosion of the prismatic energy. A.J. absorbed most of it, his eyes glowing as he was knocked back by the force of the explosion, leaving him unconscious. After the Engine was destroyed, Yon-Rogg noticed that A.J. was still alive but before he could do anything, agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. including Charles arrived to rush to A.J.'s aid, noticing the rainbow energy surging from his body. Yon-Rogg quickly retreated while A.J. was hauled away back to the New York branch.

A.J. finally woke up, finding himself back in the headquarters where he was watched over by Fury, Coulson, and Charles who have been doing vital scans when they discovered the rainbow hue emitting from his body. When Charles asked what happened, A.J. informed him about the Light Speed Engine and Jod-Stek telling him to destroy it before he was killed by Yon-Rogg before he was knocked unconscious after destroying by shooting it. He soon discovers the glowing from his body, leaving him shocked and asked which Coulson told him that he and his crew were still doing vital scans on him, trying to pick up what kind of energy it was. A.J. tried to leave but Charles stopped him, telling him that he should rest but he insisted that he was okay, telling him that it didn't kill him before leaving the headquarters, telling his father that he will see him home, not realizing that the energy absorbed by his body began to mutate his DNA and blood cells.

The next day, A.J. began to feel sluggish as his body was still glowing, which caught Chayana's attention, and she asked him what was wrong but he brushed it off. However, when he was in school, he began to feel his vision going blurry as he started to sweat from the intense heat. He excused himself from class, telling his teacher that he had to head to the nurses' office because he "didn't feel so good." Chayana, along with Jazmine, Eureka, De'Marion, and Luke tried to follow him, worried about his condition. Unable to take another step, A.J. collapsed onto the floor, much to their horror. The other students witnessed what was happening and the school informed his parents while he laid on the floor, his body continuing to glow as he panted heavily. Within moments, A.J. woke up once again in S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, where Charles was relieved to see him gaining consciousness. When he asked what had happened, Charles had told him that the teachers had told him that he had passed out in school. Fury approached him minutes later, and A.J. asked him what was going on with him. Fury took a deep breath and informed him that he, Coulson and Maria had taken in the destroyed Light Speed Engine and were scanning it, as residue of the energy inflicted on A.J. was lingering. When he asked Fury what it was, the director shook his head, saying the scans were still in the works but he was hopeful that he would find the main source of the energy as Charles worriedly told A.J. to rest until he was stable enough to go home. He wanted to protest, but he complied and remained in the headquarters.

Within the next couple of days, A.J. made a full recovery, being able to return to school. But one day, he began to discover that he had unlimited stamina, becoming more active than he was before. This happened when he was participating in P.E., when the students were assigned to run track and A.J. ran faster than he could before without breaking a sweat, not to mention having great agility. Most of the students were shocked by how effortlessly A.J. was excelling, including Chayana and the group. Even A.J. himself was shocked by how he managed to beat the timer without even stopping to catch his breath. Some of them praised him while others looked at him weirdly. School ended and the twins were walking home, talking about what had happened. A.J. informed her that Charles and the rest of S.H.I.E.L.D. were still figuring out about the energy from the Light Speed Engine that he destroyed. When Chayana asked, A.J. told her about the confrontation with Yon-Rogg, making him shoot the engine, leading to the energy which he absorbed, explaining the glowing and him passing out. As the two crossed the street, an intense police chase happened and the getaway driver was speeding towards where the twins were. A.J. was caught off-guard when he saw the speeding car coming straight at him. But before he knew it, his body began glowing once again and and he shot a powerful blast of cosmic energy, sending the getaway driver flying over him and Chayana, the car rolling across the road until it stopped. Horrified, A.J. and Chayana rushed over to see if the man was dead, but miraculously he survived. When the police arrived, the twins quickly fled the scene, Chayana asking him what he had done. Looking at his glowing hands, he shook his head and said, "I have no idea," as he really didn't know what had happened.

An Infinite Revelation

The next day, everyone in school was talking about what had happened, for the incident had been recorded by a bystander. A.J. caught wind of the video, which had more than 1 million views, and he was shocked and somewhat horrified. When he was asked questions from others, Chayana and the others quickly got him away from the crowd. Once they were in the clear, Jazmine became the first one to ask A.J. about the incident with the police chase. He explained everything that had happened, including meeting the Kree who had been shot by Yon-Rogg after ordering him to destroy the Light Speed Engine, resulting him in absorbing the energy. They began to connect the dots and they came to realize that A.J. had gained powers. A.J. didn't want to believe what they were saying, but the video proved that he had indeed flipped the car over. Soon, Fury arrived at his school and took A.J. and the others back to S.H.I.E.L.D., telling him that he had found the main source of the energy from the Engine.

When he, along with Chayana and the rest of the group arrived at the headquarters, Fury revealed to him that the energy that powered the Light Speed Engine and that A.J. absorbed came from the elusive Chroma Stone, confirmed to be the seventh Infinity Stone. It was shown that it was in fact created along with the six existing Stones, but disappeared without a trace until it was found by the Kree, who defected from the Kree Empire during the Kree-Skrull War, using its energy to power up the Light Speed Engine in hopes of creating a fleet they could use to help the remaining Skrulls escape the carnage from the war and when A.J. destroyed the Light Speed Engine, the energy absorbed into him. Then A.J. told Fury about what had happened yesterday involving the getaway driver, showing him the video that was filmed. Fury, along with Charles and Coulson, saw the incident where A.J. blasted the vehicle before it ran him over. Shocked by what had happened, Charles decided to scan him once again just to be sure he was alright, and it showed that the energy had mutated his blood cells, resulting him in generating the energy blasts, confirming that he indeed had powers. This left A.J. completely shocked, and when everyone went home, A.J. sat in his room, trying to process everything that happened, as well as the proof that the Infinity Stones actually existed. He chose to stay home from school to get his mind straight, which began to worry his mother, as she tried to convince Charles to speak to him, but he informed her that A.J. needed space.

One day, A.J. got a surprise visit from his friends, who wanted to check on him to see if he was alright. He told them that he was still overwhelmed about the incident and with people wanting to know if he really blasted the getaway suspect, and learning about the existence of the Infinity Stones, along with the Chroma Stone. He told them that he was just doing what the deceased Kree soldier said, but wasn't expecting the energy from the Chroma Stone to give him incredible powers. Chayana informed him that he had always looked up to Charles because of his heroism in S.H.I.E.L.D. when he was younger, but he countered that he was was joking about wanting to become a superhero and he felt afraid. Jazmine informed him that she and the rest understood, but she always believed that he would do something heroic, and when she saw him in the video, she was amazed, as were the others. Eureka told him that if it wasn't for that, he and Chayana would have been run over by the driver. A.J. said he was acting out of instinct and he never asked to get powers. Chayana told him that it's okay to be afraid, but he should think about how his new powers had helped the police arrest the suspect, as she showed him a news clip about the incident, in which the officers wanted to thank him for stepping in. This left A.J. silent for a while and it made him think. When his friends left, A.J. told Chayana that he would think about what she had said to him, and she told him that it was his choice and she would understand if he rejected what she and the others had said.

When he returned to school, A.J. kept his distance from his peers, who weren't able to let go of the incident, and he was even mocked by Butch and Milan who believed that it was photoshopped. But A.J. just ignored them and kept to himself as he continued to ponder what Chayana and the others had said to him. He eventually met up with Chayana and decided to go get some pizza to help get his mind back on track, while he began to tell her about their conversation along with the others. While they were waiting, A.J.'s eyes began emitting a rainbow colored hue as he sensed a powerful force from behind and he quickly pushed Chayana out of of the way as the glass from the pizzeria shattered, followed by the sounds of gunfire ringing through, causing screams everywhere. Just then, a group of masked men armed with AK-47s raided the building, stating that this was a robbery. Thankfully, A.J. wasn't hurt and neither was Chayana, but he knew that people were nearly hurt and shaken because of the shooting.

As the robbers began to demand the workers give them everything they had, not just their money, one of them shot some of the employees dead, causing others to shriek in fear, not wanting to become the next victim. A.J. decided to step in to put a stop to their carnage. Chayana tried to stop him from confronting the robbers since they were armed, but he told her that his powers helped stop a police chase, and he wanted to use his power to help stop the crooks from hurting other people, even though he was afraid. As he confronted the robbers, they began to see him as a threat and began opening fire at him, but A.J. projected a powerful force field, deflecting the bullets. The men were shocked, but they chose to fight him off, which A.J. found difficult to counter at first, but he evaded their blows and channeled his powers to help him in combat, disarming their weapons and either knocking them out or blasting them away with the assistance of his energy senses. When he faced the leader, the man held onto his gun and opened fire at A.J. One of the bullets grazed his cheek, but he didn't back down and powered himself up from the energy of the Chroma Stone, firing a powerful blast, and knocking out the leader. Soon after the fight, the police arrived and saw his face, confirming that he was the one who had stopped the getaway driver. Once the victims were evacuated, the police decided to take A.J. to the station to talk about the incident.

Down at the station, the police began questioning A.J. about what happened and he told them that the robbery had happened unexpectedly and he witnessed some of them killing the employees and he had to step in. He admitted that he put himself at risk but he knew that if he didn't do anything, the robbers would have killed everyone in the pizzeria, so he fought them off with his new powers. A.J. still felt uneasy of what the officers would do, but the police captain smiled and told them that what he did was heroic and they had been looking for him because they wanted to give him their gratitude for putting a stop to the chase. He informed him that his officers had been pursuing the criminal, who was wanted for crimes such as robbery, attempted murder, and carjacking, and was evading them. A.J. shook his head, saying that he wasn't trying to be a hero at the time, he was caught up in the wrong place at the wrong time and he reacted quickly, but he didn't tell him how did he get his powers. The officer didn't care how he got them and labeled him as a hero, especially when the victims recorded the fight between him and the suspects. The other officers told him that what he had done was dangerous, but it took a lot a guts to stand up against them. Seeing the officers' praise, A.J. began to feel the fear lifted off his body, and he asked them if they were angry at him for interfering, even if it was an accident, and the captain shook his head, saying that he had their appreciation. As A.J. was about to respond to them feeling very moved, Lisa, Charles, and Chayana arrived, relieved that he was in one piece, and took him home.

When A.J. got home, his mother scolded him for putting himself on the front lines when the robbers were armed, which he understood, but he told her that it happened out of the blue and almost everyone got hurt because of them, not to mention some of the employees working there were mercilessly killed by them, prompting him to make a choice to confront them. The fight escalated for a moment until Lisa asked A.J. what made him act so dangerously and he revealed to her that he had powers, showing his hand that began glowing as well as his whole body, surprising her. He even revealed to her that he was the one who had "helped" in the police chase. Lisa was left speechless and she managed to calm down, telling him to never scare her like that again before leaving. A.J. went to his room until Charles came in to see if he was okay. A.J. told him that the past few days had been very tumultuous, and he was processing what had happened. Charles said that the police appreciated his help in the chase, and were impressed by how he was able to fend off the robbers as he pointed to the bandage on his left cheek where he was struck by the bullet. A.J. smiled before asking him if he was able to pull off being a hero, now that he had powers. Like Chayana, Charles told him that with his powers, if he saved one person, he could save the entire world protecting those who care about him the most. However, if he felt unwilling to do so, he wouldn't stop him either, for he was still a teenager. After the conversation, A.J. looked at the videos and how people were commenting how heroic he was and it moved him deeply, resulting in his making a big decision. After meeting with Chayana and the others, A.J. told them that he would learn how to master his powers and use them to protect the citizens of New York City, which they happily supported.

Rise of a Hero

In the wake of his new motivation, A.J. began his training with the others in honing his powers, resulting him in unlocking different abilities such as hard-light construction, telekinesis, cosmic vision, and even flight. Eventually, A.J. excelled thanks to their pushing and support, which Fury caught wind of while visiting Charles and Lisa. When he asked about it, A.J. informed him about his decision to protect people in the city, and all Fury did was laugh. At first, A.J. was offended, but the director told him that his motivation was just like Charles and he couldn't help but laugh over his determination, though he did ask him if that was what he really wanted. A.J. told him that it wasn't really his goal, but he was told that with his powers given by the Chroma Stone through the Light Speed Engine, he could use them to make a change, and after being involved in two events which nearly cost him his life, he decided that it's what he had to do. Fury smiled and told him that Charles went through the same ordeal, leading him to become one of the best S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. He then offered to join in the training and A.J. openly agreed, leading him to train in the headquarters until his abilities were fully polished. He was also assisted by Coulson and Maria while learning more about the Infinity Stones and their abilities as well as their whereabouts.

Succeeding in his training, A.J. made his full debut by donning a suit that was stored in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s storage room and an eye mask to help conceal his identity, thanks to Charles, whom he didn't want people to know was his own son working for Fury. In his first attempt, he flew through Manhattan until he noticed a massive building surrounded by police cars and firetrucks and engulfed in a massive fireball. He descended to the street, where the police and firefighters were caught off guard by his arrival. A.J. asked them about the fire, and the lead firefighter told him that almost everyone had evacuated the building by then, and they're trying to put it out. A.J. looked at the building and he felt a strong pulse through his powers, using his cosmic vision, he detected two kids were stuck on the third floor of the building. Keeping his composure, knowing that he was indeed a bit afraid, he flew inside of the building after telling the firefighters he was going inside.

A.J. began looking around to find where the children were trapped, and debris began falling on him, as he felt the intense heat from the fire. Using his cosmic vision once more, he found them behind the debris that was blocking the door. He called to them and they responded, their fear apparent in their voices. Without holding back, he blasted the debris and the door down, revealing a terrified young boy and girl. He quickly took the children in his arms and they made their escape as the debris kept falling and the flames got stronger. Holding them tight, A.J. flew out of the building and landed near the firefighters, as the children reunited with their family. The firefighters soon checked in to see if there was anyone else trapped inside, and they were in the clear. The children's parents approached A.J. and thanked him for saving them and asked for his name. A.J. thought about it for a second until the children complimented that he glowed like a bright star when he came to their rescue, resulting in A.J. naming himself "Starbolt," before leaving the premises. As the children cheered for him and thanked him as he left, he felt the fear diminish from his heart, and the confidence took over as he began to accept his powers as well as the change in his life.

Since then, A.J. continued with his budding hero career while keeping his identity a secret from the public and the school as he slowly began to gain recognition from the public, both good and bad. Along the way, A.J. was given a new suit and mask by his mother, who told him that she had been thinking about him becoming a hero and decided to accept his decision, even though she still worried for him because he was still a teenager. As he understood his mother's feelings, A.J. accepted the new suit, however, Chayana and Charles offered him a brown 1940s-style bomber jacket to wear over his suit, which A.J. happily took, completing the look. As his career continued to slowly build, using the "Starbolt" name, A.J.'s confidence also increased as he continued to fight off everyday criminals and became friends with the N.Y.P.D., who often aided him in taking down dangerous criminals that they had on their radar. Many people tried to figure out who he was, even the school, where a fan club was formed by Butch and Milan, who wanted to see who was behind the mask, which A.J. found funny since they didn't know it was him and he wanted it to stay that way.

As his popularity continued to rise at a slow pace, A.J. kept on with his career as a superhero until one night when he was out, keeping an eye on the city, he discovers people gathering up at a tall building where a distraught man was standing on the ledge of the building, about to commit suicide by jumping off. A.J. quickly rushed in to try to talk to the man who just inches away from jumping off, which he said that he had lost his job as well as his wife divorced him. A.J. continued to have a conversation with the man, talking him out of taking his own life, but before the man took another step, he slips and he ends up falling from the ledge, much to A.J.'s horror. He flies down to catch the man, but he too far from him. However, his whole body began to glow and without any effort, he created a cushion-like object from solid light of his powers, saving the man from meeting his death. As the police came to his aid, the crowd watched in shock and in awe by what had happened, looking at A.J. before he flies away, cheering for him as he departed, not knowing what was about to coming to him.

Dealing with A.I.M.

After the incident, A.J. stopped an an alleyway, trying to reel in what had happened. Then suddenly, he was found by a combat drone operated by Advanced Idea Mechanics better known as A.I.M. It begins to open fire at him, causing the cosmic mutate to retreat before he emits a powerful cosmic blast, destroying it completely. But before he could make his escape, A.J. was surrounded by more of their drones and he quickly destroys most of them long before taking a look at the scrapped metal where it said "Property of Stark Industries", indicating that the drones were created by Stark Industries but before could make another wave of combat drones and he quickly escape by flight, making the machines chase after him. Eventually, he destroys all of them mid-flight with his cosmic blasts before calling Chayana and tells him and the others to meet him back at home as he was shaken over what had happened.

When they did meet up, A.J. tells them what had happened and presented them with a little "souvenir". Eureka began to take a look at the piece of the destroyed drone and she informed them that the drones were indeed manufactured by Stark Industries but it was operated by A.I.M. When A.J. asked about it, Eureka informed that she had did some research about the organization and told him that the drone prototype was stolen from Stark Industries by a man named George Tarleton who once worked there but was fired due to some scandal between him and the main CEO Tony Stark, resulting in him stealing the drone prototype. A.J. wasn't too familiar with A.I.M. but he had informed him about the drones that tried to attack him, unsure what was the motive behind the attack. Jazmine informed them that they take can the drone piece to S.H.I.E.L.D. and tell Fury about what was happening. DeMarion, Eureka, and Luke agreed to the plan while Chayana asked A.J. if he was okay and he agreed, even though he was already a little shaken.

Moments later, A.J. and company arrived at S.H.I.E.L.D. where he presented the piece of the destroyed battle drone and Fury was shocked when it was revealed where it was manufactured from. When Fury asked, A.J. informed that he had been attacked by the said drone, leading him to retaliate but didn't know that it had been built by Stark Industries. Fury asked did he discover who sent the drone, and Chayana pointed to the A.I.M. logo, resulting the director to grimace darkly, informing that he has had a relationship with the organization. Eureka informed that its leader had a tumultuous relationship with Tony Stark and Stark Industries which Fury was aware of. He even informed that he was also at odds with Tarleton. However, when he tried to get hold of more information about Tarleton but none of them came to surface. A.J. had informed that S.H.I.E.L.D. were good at unlocking top secret files, but Fury said that it's not always easy and that the files about Tarleton were strongly locked and it will take time for him and the rest of the agents to even unlock them. Feeling stuck, A.J. decided to leave with the others, feeling a bit uneasy over what was next in store for him as Fury began to figure out trying to unlock more information about A.I.M.

However, for the last few days, A.J. was encountered by more of the drones sent by A.I.M. attacking him from every single area he was in which he destroyed every single one of them where it reached to the point where A.I.M. began to send in troops to capture him. But with the help of Chayana, who was a black belt in karate, jiu-jitsu, and taekwondo, A.J. managed to escape their clutches. Finally, A.J. finally got the news about the founder of A.I.M. from Fury through his father and when it was revealed, his heart stopped. It was revealed that A.I.M. was actually a HYDRA organization who had discovered about the Chroma Stone's existence and how he was able to absorb it and now wants to capture him and make him their superweapon. The news was later told to Lisa, and the others and they promised that they would protect A.J. although he informed them that he would fend them off himself. But Charles reminded him how powerful the Chroma Stone is and with the HYDRA now on his tail, there was no telling when they will initiate their attempt in his capture. This made A.J. relent a little bit, but he chose to fight, knowing he's not going to go down easily.

Fury initiated agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. including Coulson, along with his daughter, Jacquelina "Jackie" Fury to keep A.J. protected and keep A.I.M. from digging more information about him as he continued to keep New York protected from criminals and superpowered villains. But being how crafty HYDRA is, they unlocked more information about A.J., revealing his background which included his family and friends. Without them even knowing it, most of his friends, family, and even the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. were captured by A.I.M. and finally, Tarleton revealed himself, ordering his troops to hold them as ransom in hopes of luring A.J. to him. Eventually, A.J. discovers what had happened and he gets a message from A.I.M. that "if he wants his loved ones to live, he has to see them at the A.I.M. headquarters". Knowing that it was a trap, but knowing that his parents, sister, and friends are now in danger, A.J. took the message. It didn't take long for him to get there where he was met by Tarleton but he didn't waste any time in telling him to let everyone go. Tarleton refused to free them unless he surrenders, telling him how fascinated he was by his powers and they wanted someone like him to become part of A.I.M. But A.J. knows that he was really part of HYDRA and he tells Tarleton on how he wanted to use him as his superweapon to bring the world under submission. When Tarleton asked, A.J. tells them that S.H.I.E.L.D. was able to crack through their façade, causing the founder to finally come clean and tells A.J. to surrender or else everyone will die. A.J. refuses, igniting the battle between him and A.I.M.

Summoning his drones, Tarleton did not hold himself back in trying to make A.J. his personal weapon for HYDRA. While some of the drones proved to be tough opponents for A.J., he managed to overcome him with his powers and frees his family, friends, and the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. before Tarleton took drastic measures in suiting up in a Iron Hulk Buster which he had stolen the blueprints from Stark Industries as well. At first, A.J. found himself in trouble, trying to fight off the hulking suit Tarleton was in, being beaten to where he felt powerless. However, with the help on Eureka, who implanted a virus into the suits' system, causing it to go haywire, A.J. manages to overpower Tarleton, defeating him in the process which caused the destruction of the A.I.M. Headquarters, in which revealed its true nature. Relieved that his loved ones are now safe and Tarleton now arrested for his crimes, A.J. believed that it was all over for him and he would move on with his life and learn more about his powers. But this was only the beginning of what next is in store for him.

Talos and the Kree

A year had passed since A.J. dealt with A.I.M. and is now excited for senior year along with Chayana who is now training under the guidance of S.H.I.E.L.D through Jackie Fury. But one day, he discovers that he had been watched by a mysterious ally who have been hiding in the shadows. It didn't take long for him to notice and quickly attack the newcomer, alerting S.H.I.E.L.D. as was he gets into a quick scuffle with the said stalker, revealing himself to be a Skrull. Once he was taken in for interrogation, the Skrull introduced himself as Talos, who had been in refuge on Earth since the Kree-Skrull war and he has informed him that his life was is in jeopardy. A.J. asked him what was he talking about and Talos tells him that he knows some information about the Chroma Stone which he revealed that it had been used to create the Light-Speed Engine powerful enough to operate ship that will allow the defected Kree to help send the endangered Skrull to different planets in order to keep them safe from the carnage created by the Kree Empire that had lasted for many years because of the war.

Not knowing anything about the Kree-Skrull War, A.J. asked Talos about it and how it connected to the Chroma Stone. Talos explained that the Chroma Stone's power was created from the leftovers of the Big Bang that created the universe, making it powerful than the six well-known Stones which A.J. already knew since Fury told him beforehand. However, Talos tells him that different civilizations were seeking to obtain the stone for its energy, including the Kree Empire, resulting in a Sovereign named Adam Warlock hiding the seventh Infinity Stone because of how incredibly powerful it was. Eventually, the stone was discovered by the Kree and planned to use its power to build the Light-Speed Engine and test it before they could use the ship. This made A.J. remember the day he witness the crash on the ship where he met the late Jod-Stek who happened to be a friend of Talos and he told him about how he had gotten his powers. Talos, said that he had already knew when he had discovered the files about him and his powers. However, he also informed him that one of the spy Skrulls have informed him that one of the Kree soldiers have informed the members of the Kree Starforce along with the members of the Accusers about his powers and are coming to capture him and have sent him to protect him. Although he felt a bit appreciated that he had more people by his side, A.J. began to feel a bit exasperated that people felt like it's their job to "protect" him and he informed Talos that he is able to take care of himself and he had faced Yon-Rogg prior to getting his powers and there was nothing to be be worried, much to Talos' major concern.

However, one day, after A.J. decided to hang out with Chayana and company and a mysterious man, dressed in a sleek suit approached him and asked him if he should come with him. Confused, A.J. kindly refused but the man gripped onto his arm tightly, alerting him immediately. Chayana tried to interfere, but the man swatted her away with a hard slap, sending her flying and crashing into a group of trash cans, much to A.J.'s shock. Fed up with the latter's resistance, the man in black removes his clothing, revealing himself to be a Kree soldier named Korath the Pursuer. He informed A.J. that he along with his team had finally found him and was going to take him to serve the Kree Empire as the main source of the Supreme Intelligence. Horrified over the ambition, A.J. eventually frees himself from Korath's grasp by blasting him away and rushes up to Chayana, helping her up on her feet and escape while and enraged Korath, pursues them.

Powers

Cosmokinesis: A.J. gains the power of Cosmokinesis from the energy of the Chroma Stone and later the stone himself. Due to the seventh stone being the stone with the "leftovers" of the universe, its power is unlimited and grants A.J. the abilities to generate powers of the universe, while the Chroma Stone becomes "one" with him.
