Agents of S.W.O.R.D. is a Disney+ original series which forms several entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - MAX Phase and Max Phase 2. A spiritual continuation of the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. it focuses on a new cast of characters along with some familiar faces, acting as the sort of connective tissue Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. never had the chance to. The series consists of six 8-episode seasons.

Synopsis (Season 1 - "Nidavellir")[]

Fourth entry in MAX Phase 1. When S.W.O.R.D. agents Abigail Brand and Daisy Johnson's ship, the Zephyr, is destroyed in a seeming space pirate attack while out on a mission, they are saved by the oddball "W" aboard his reclaimed Ravager ship, the Queen of Hearts. With the help of Nick Fury, Brand puts together a brand new team to find out who attacked them, a mystery that will unveil millenia of hidden Asgardian history.

Synopsis (Season 2 - "Ciel Bleu")[]

Fifth entry in Max Phase 1. Upon saving a mysterious young girl named Jiwe from a group of hostile Inhumans, Brand's team becomes hunted by a terrorist group who call themselves "The Wayward Girls." Despite S.W.O.R.D.'s resources, and even the intervention of a few Avengers, the Wayward Girls prove to be exceptional opponents. Add to that the return of Wanda Maximoff, with the Darkhold becoming a variable once again. Meanwhile, A.G. Mott and his companion Fei arrive, claiming to be "interdimensional adventurers."

Synopsis (Season 3 - "The Grindhouse")[]

Thirteenth entry in MAX Phase 1. Trevor Fitzroy, a mysterious adversary with a powerful grudge, declares war on all of S.W.O.R.D., and he wants only one thing: Daisy Johnson's head. As he attacks, S.W.O.R.D. headquarters becomes enveloped in an impenetrable energy bubble, with everyone inside experiencing a time loop where they are killed by Fitzroy over and over - with only Daisy and Flint having memories of the time loops.

Synopsis (Season 4 - "Strange Times")[]

Fifth entry in MAX Phase 2. After Dr. Stephen Strange himself was attacked by apparent S.W.O.R.D. agents, he approaches Nick Fury to get to the root of it. The only problem: Fury, the most paranoid man on Earth, doesn't recognize most of the attackers, while the other was a kill he himself had confirmed. Abigail Brand however believes the attackers may be connected to another "pocket anomaly" similar to the ones Strange and the Midnight Sons dealt with.

Synopsis (Season 5 - "Two More Heads")[]

The source of the pocket anomalies has been found: Earth-464, a hellscape where HYDRA rules supreme and the heroes have all either joined them or died by their hand. Due to Galactus's breach, HYDRA has discovered a way to traverse the multiverse and have set their signs on complete dominance. Nick Fury, befitting his paranoia, never counted HYDRA to be completely down for the count, and springs his many plans into motion to destroy them for good. Everywhere and everywhen.

Synopsis (Season 6 - "Steve Rogers")[]

THE FINAL SEASON. The Red Skull has been killed by the Secret Avengers, his top lieutenants dead, and his moon base has been decimated - and yet, HYDRA still lives, seemingly even stronger than before. In order to stop the threat of HYDRA, their "Supreme Leader" must be taken down at all costs. Unfortunately, his face is one most will recognize to their horror: Steve Rogers. The final battle begins here.

1
"Interstellar Stranding"
SWORD captain Abigail Brand suddenly wakes up in the wreckage of her ship, the Zephyr, nearly decimated, and stranded in space - with life support quickly running out. As she attempts to piece together her memory of the incident, she finds a badly injured Daisy Johnson and Daniel Sousa as the only survivors. Just as their air is about to diminish completely, an apparent Ravager ship appears.
2
"W"
The pilot - and captain of the Ravager ship introduces himself as "intergalactic adventurer" W. He claims they are lucky to be alive for having come face-to-face with "death herself", and pledges to return Brand and her team to Earth.

Elsewhere, the Asgardian goddess Hela, long thought dead and looking haggard, stares at her broken helm and orders her servants to work faster in constructing a makeshift Bifrost.
3
"Queen of Hearts"
Nick Fury begins assembling a team to look into the disappearance of the Zephyr, when suddenly, W's ship, the Queen of Hearts arrives with its survivors. W explains that they had a run-in with the Asgardian goddess of death, Hela. Fury contemplates calling in Thor, but W presses the issues that involving Thor or New Asgard is the last thing they should do.

In flashbacks, W is shown purchasing the Queen of Hearts from Kraglin Obfonteri, as a means of escaping his past.
4
"Mobius' Trip"
TVA agent Mobius begins into looking how Hela survived her apparent demise during Ragnarok. As he shuffles through her history, he discovers that during Asgard's Age of Conquest, against Odin's wishes, she rescued a human child.

Meanwhile on Earth, W manages to convince Nick Fury to join SWORD as a space explorer, volunteering his own ship for their expeditions. Brand resumes her duty as captain and mission commander, and joining the team are the young Inhuman Flint, Daisy, her friend and mentor Phil Coulson, Fury's "science guy" Fabian Cortez, and Monica Rambeau, also known as the superhero Spectrum. Unknown to the rest, Fury - naturally - does not trust W, and tasks Monica with spying on him.
5
"Wayland the Smith"
Mobius's investigation continues. He learns that the child Hela rescued was saved with her own blood. Odin forbids the child from living on Asgard, so Hela takes him to Nidavellir, to have a life as a smith under the tutelage of Eitri, now under the name Wayland. This was the turning point in the fracturing relationship between Hela and her father.

On Earth, at W's insistence the Queen takes off for Nidavellir, while Monica relays all information back to Fury.
6
"Blood Debt"
Mobius discovers that it was Eitri who rescued Hela from Ragnarok, out of gratitude for sparing him from Odin's wrath for taking in Wayland and training him. He also learns that Hela can restore much of her power by sacrificing Wayland and draining him of his blood. Upon this discovery, he quickly tempads his way into Nidavellir.

Out in space, the team is accosted by pirates - unaffiliated with Ravagers - where both Brand and Flint display their abilities; the ability to generate green flames, and the power to control rocks, respectively. However, Monica's orders to spy on W are revealed.
7
"The Land's End"
Mobius arrives just in time for Hela's arrival. She demands Eitri to repair her helmet, but he refuses - she begins executing the dwarven smiths one by one. Out of desperation, Mobius uses his tempad to sneak aboard the Queen of Hearts, and without the team noticing him, he inputs a shortcut to Nidavellir into the ship's jump drive.

During an argument with Monica, W loses his temper and accidentally smashes one of Daisy's personal belongings - a terrigen crystal. Before she can explain why she brought it with her, a cocoon begins to form around W.
8
"An Inhuman-Asgardian-Space-Man"
The Queen very nearly crashes into Nidavellir, violently releasing W from his cocoon. Despite W being throughly discombobulated, the team engages with Hela. Even though she is not at her full strength, she begins to overpower the team before W discovers his own Inhuman power: The ability to summon necroswords much like her. After a tough battle, the team triumphs and kill Hela for good.

After the battle, W admits that he used the team solely so he can get to Hela, to try and talk her down from her madness, and clarifies the only reason why the Zephyr was damaged by Hela was solely because W was there at the time, and she was trying to get him. Brand extends her arm for him to officially join SWORD, and he accepts, now going by the name Waylon Smith. Mobius leaves for the TVA, flabbergasted, quipping that he never wants anything to do with Asgardians again. Upon his return, he is notified - and exhausted - of a Loki variant who has been killing the Minute Men.

In a post-credits scene, a Koenig informs Fury that a certain former SHIELD agent has resurfaced, and for the first time in his life, Fury appears genuinely terrified of the news.

"Blue Sky"
In 1987, SHIELD agent A.G. Mott is sent by Peggy Carter to investigate a string of murders in Miami. He confirms to her that it is no doubt the work of "the book."
In present-day, a young girl is being chased in Johannesburg by armed men when she is rescued by Abigail. The girl speaks a strange language that Abigail's translator cannot make sense of, so she takes her to their nearby SWORD compound. As the team tries their best to welcome her, a seemingly un-aged Mott appears before Fury. Despite the two being cordial and friendly, Fury is notably on edge. As they continue their talk, a silent, barefooted women enters the compound and effortlessly begins dispatching agents, including Abigail and Daisy as she makes her way toward Coulson and the girl. As soon as Fury receives word of the attack, he pulls a gun on Mott and reveals Stephen Strange had been with them - hidden - the whole time as his backup.
10
"A Scientist Supreme"
Fury and Strange confront Mott. He admits that the woman - Fei - is his companion, and they came to retrieve the girl; kill her if necessary, to prevent the "Scientist" from getting his hands on her. He explains that she is a living embodiment of the dreaded Darkhold - containing all of the knowledge in her subconscious, with none of the curses of risks. He aims to prevent this Scientist from obtaining a limitless version of the Darkhold, and has been trying to stop him for decades.

Elsewhere, the Scientist - Lyle Getz - finishes healing Benjamin Poindexter, aka Bullseye, as he is approached by a man calling himself Doppelganger.
11
"The Living Book"
Mott reveals that Fury never would have been able to stop him: In addition to Fei, he also brought with him Wanda Maximoff, Robbie Reyes and Matt Murdock to help him retrieve the girl, but hoped Fury would listen. He has spent entire lifetimes exploring the multiverse, and has occasionally done work for SHIELD in the past. By getting the girl through a "nexus portal" that Getz cannot reach, he'll be able to protect her - however, the closest portal is in the middle the Sahara.

As the team begins their preparations, Daisy begins having disturbing hallucinations of her old nemesis Grant Ward.

Elsewhere, Getz assembles the "Wayward Girls", a highly dangerous team of contract killers: Doppelganger, a seemingly undying Asgardian; a deranged woman known as Ms. Conspiracy; a cold explosives expert, Blasting-Cap-Man; former SHIELD savant and enhanced human with freezing abilities, Donnie Gill; Benjamin Poindexter, aka Bullseye; and an Inhuman named Whisper, who bears an uncanny resemblance to Grant Ward.
12
"Fury Road"
Brand's team begins their ride towards the portal in a massive armored big rig truck. As they trek across the desert, the team is attacked on all sides by the Wayward Girls. The truck is directly assaulted by a fleet of drones operated by Ms. Conspiracy, while the trailer is attacked from behind in a highly armed and advanced buggy driven by Whisper and Doppelganger. Daisy and W defend the truck from the drones, while Mott and Robbie drive out of the trailer in the Hell Charger, and engage in an epic vehicular duel against the buggy, with Mott revealing that he is also a powerful Master of the Mystic Arts.

As the battle rages, Daisy's mind becomes increasingly unfocused until she makes a grave mistake.
13
"Hell Broken Loose"
Having become distracted from Whisper's strange telepathic powers, Daisy accidentally toppled the truck and veered the Hell Charger off-course. As the team desperately try to battle against the mighty Doppelganger, who can seemingly, instantly, "respawn" after death, Wanda Maximoff appears and turns the tide of the battle. However, in the chaos, Matt Murdock seemingly appears and kidnaps the Jiwe, the Darkhold child. As he runs into a mysteriously conjured portal, the girl lets out a scream that causes everyone on the battlefield to black out.
14
"The Right Thing To Do"
Murdock exits the portal and appears in the middle of a forest with the girl, with Mott waiting for him. Mott eases his deep guilt over what he had to do, and explains that Brand's ragtag team never stood a chance: The Wayward Girls have killed multiple Avengers across the Multiverse, and there was no way they could've defended the girl. As he prepares to execute the girl, he is stopped by Fei, joined by Murdock himself.

Elsewhere, Daisy wakes to find herself in captivity by Whisper's hand. As he reveals his face, all of her memories and traumas of Ward come flooding back.
15
"Whispers"
Whisper reveals that he is in fact Grant Ward from an alternate universe. In his timeline, Strucker's and Reinhardt's experiments with enhanced and Inhumans gave him abilities. Despite this divergence, he is still obsessed with Daisy. His Daisy may have died under mysterious circumstances, but he is sure he can win this one over. Before he can do...whatever he was planning on, Fury arrives at the bunker she was being held in with a Helicarrier. Reyes jumps out and frees her. As he transforms fully into the Ghost Rider, he and Daisy work together to dispatch and eliminate Whisper.

Aboard the Helicarrier, Fei steps out of portal before Fury, along with Murdock, Jiwe and a chained-up Mott, warning him that Lyle Getz is coming.
16
"Lasting Impression"
Doppelganger, and the Wayward Girls attacked the Helicarrier fully. Daisy engages with Doppelganger, while the rest of Brand's team - along with Murdock - and a platoon of SWORD agents battle against the rest of the Girls. Despite killing him multiple times, Doppelganger can't seem to die. Due to this, the imprisoned Mott gives Strange a tip: Find Getz, and he can end Doppelganger. Strange and Wanda use the Darkhold knowledge within Jiwe to divine Getz's location, and Strange makes his way to his compound. Upon confronting him, Getz reveals himself as "The Scientist Supreme" - Strange's rival from multiple timelines.

After a fierce battle, SWORD comes out victorious, with the enemy's only survivor being Poindexter. He is promptly imprisoned alongside Mott, and they are forced to share a cell - though Mott claims that this won't hold him, and they merely got lucky. Fury promises to find a safe place for Jiwe where she will never be found.

In a post-credits scene, Wanda discover that Jiwe belongs to the same civilization that worshipped C'thon and wrote the Darkhold, but cannot make heads or tails of where the girl truly came from.

"The Final Countdown"
In a flashback, Daisy's sin is fully revealed: During a past S.H.I.E.L.D. mission, Daisy and junior agent Trevor Fitzroy were sent to stop a hostage crisis and save Trevor's wife Laura, a physicist, from a terrorist bomb. Daisy made the call to attempt to diffuse the bomb first, while Trevor disobeyed and went to save the hostages. Daisy, however, made the wrong call and failed to stop the bomb, resulting in the deaths of the hostages, and Fitzroy being hit by shrapnel from Laura's experimental technology. Coulson, S.H.I.E.L.D. director at the time, chose to fudge details of this mission to protect Daisy, and marked Fitzroy as KIA.
Present day, the team confronts Fitzroy for a final, emotionally charged showdown. The intense battle culminates in a gripping climax that leaves Daisy profoundly scarred, and Coulson having to answer to Nick Fury directly for protecting Daisy. The aftermath reshapes the team's destiny, as Daisy makes the gut-wrenching decision to leave S.W.O.R.D. permanently, unable to reconcile her past actions and the damage she's caused.
In a post-credit scene, younger, untainted and more dashing Mott approaches Nick Fury, foretelling an impending threat. His cryptic insights into the future set the stage for S.W.O.R.D.'s greatest battle.
