Adrian Toomes (Earth-2223)

Adrian Toomes was a successful businessman, running Bestman and Toomes, an electrical company working from New York. He was a single father to his daughter Valeria after his wife left when Valeria was young. However, Toomes' company was folded into Oscorp under the orders of Norman Osborn and he was promptly fired. Not being able to find a new job and needing to provide for his daughter, Toomes developed an armored suit which granted him flight, and he began scavenging technology and objects from Oscorp warehouses. However, in his civilian life, Toomes volunteered at a soup kitchen, believing that his good and bad acts cancelled out. Here, he met May Parker, and they bonded over both being single parents.

An Enemy of Spider-Man

The Vulture's criminal activities quickly drew the notice of Spider-Man, who tracked down the villain, and the two fought. Vulture took Spider-Man to the skies before dropping him and left, believing him dead, but not before Spider-Man caught a glance of Vulture's identity. Toomes then met Spider-Man in his civilian identity as he took Peter's Aunt May on a date, although he did not realize Peter was the hero he was opposing. The next evening, the two tangled again, and Spider-Man came out on top and saved him from an experimental Oscorp weapon exploding. He was then imprisoned by SHIELD.
