His life is based off of his Earth-616 counterpart until he appears as a SHIELD agent, having learned from his father because he was a SHIELD agent also.
Adam and Robert attended the same science classes at Horizon Labs High. The two of them went crimefighting, making up excuses and going in separate directions whenever there was danger, until Adam became part of the SHIELD Trainees, where they shared their identities with each other and began officially working together.
He was one of many different superheroes recruited by S.H.I.E.L.D. to join the Training Program, along with White Tiger, Iron Fist, Power Man, Nova, SplitFire and Ice Girl. Deadpool frequently appeared, having fun with them and driving Nick Fury crazy. Adam used to be Iron Man's partner until he went solo, but he still supports him anyway.
