Why is it that you were the only one born with the powers from the Heart-Shaped Herb? None of the kings prior inherited the traits from their fathers despite coming from the same royal line. Your mother was one of the most unique and most powerful queens our country has ever seen. A goddess to our people. Azari, face it, you are special. When you were born you showed an early affinity towards the Panther Spirit. Some thought you were more cat than human! Azari, you were born for this. If only you could see it.

Synopsis for "Nothing Is Ever Easy"Edit

This issue starts with Azari, James and Torunn on a Quinjet to Wakanda. Though Azari insisted he could do this, it's obvious he's worried, all his fears and worries about Wakanda had come back in full force. Wakanda was supposed to be his culture, instead he felt like an outsider as he hadn't grown up there, it didn't matter that he spoke the language or could tell you about every city, and it was one of the main reasons he stayed with the Avengers (that, and so he didn't have to worry about becoming king). Torunn could sense his worries as they have a close brother-sister relationship, and because she went through something similar when she returned to Asgard. She told him the people of Wakanda will get used to him, and they are going to be proud to call him king, the pep talk works and focuses him back on the mission, until he sees the huge statue of his grandfather shaking him just a little bit more, this was a king's city.

Queen Shuri went through the customary greetings with Azari before taking the three heroes and her entourage to the tower in Birin T'Chaka. Shuri gave them the go ahead to explain and Azari and Torunn let James do the talking. James and Shuri talked back and forth about the state of North, South, and Central America; all places which having been struggling to get back to where they were post-Ultron. Shuri says she thought they were managing just fine, but James tells her that surviving is the better term, he also tells her about Madripoor and the attacks they are looking out for which have been pulling their attention elsewhere. After Shuri questions if they want her Vibranium, he continues going on about the state of the world. He might not have been wrong, but it was disrespectful to the Queen and she let him know that.

Shuri still talks to them but this time she and Azari talk alone away from everyone else. Azari apologizes for James, telling her he's just passionate, and she says she understands, and also says that Wakanda has had meetings about this before, but many Wakandans don't believe it's worth helping out for. Azari pleads with her about helping South or Central America and she agrees, but the talks turn to what exactly the Avengers have been doing. Azari explains they've been liberating countries and most recently looking for leads on the X-Men. This surprises Shuri and she tells Azari that supposedly long ago the X-Men moved into Genosha. Ten years it was true, but she couldn't say the same for right now. Still Azari is very thankful for the tip, and is elated until Shuri brings up the elephant in the room.

The two go back and forth about his role as Prince of Wakanda, and how he's not fulfilling it. Azari tells her about feeling like a fake, and a phony, but Shuri insists he's not. That the people love him and they all want to see their prince return home and eventually take up the mantle of king. She can tell he doesn't fully believe him so she sends him on her way with a briefcase, she doesn't say what's in it, only to open it when he has time. After that, he and the Avengers leave, setting their course for Genosha.

Back with Francis, he's leading the mission in California with Daisy and Eli. He's not happy as he believes James' decision to take Torunn to Wakanda was wrong, but he had to deal with it anyway. The three young heroes reminisce about how it was years ago when Francis' dad was still alive, and they'd run missions for him. This mission is mostly supposed to be protecting the information tower at the construction site, when they get to the site it's clear someone is there with them, so Francis sends Eli another way, and takes Daisy with his for a frontal approach, when they got to the information centre Crossfire was there waiting for them.

Francis immediately shot an arrow at Crossfire, who dodged it fairly easy and threw a grenade back at them forcing them to disengage for a little. Crossfire jumped through the window nearly three stories high and landed on the ground easily, Francis and Daisy also tried to go through the window, but their grapple was cut when they were around halfway down sending them plummeting into the pavement. Francis hurt his wrist, but it was clear that Daisy was hurt worse by the sight of her shoulder in all the wrong places. Eli had eyes on the shooter and explained that it was a man with a white sword, white shield, hood and skull mask. Francis wasn't sure who it was but there was no time to think as Crossfire was trying to escape. Even with his bum wrist, he had an amazing shot covering his legs in hardening foam and giving him a little time for him and Daisy to get right.

They narrowly avoided being turned into swish cheese by the new merc, and hid behind the crane, going to Tony for answers. Tony explained that Taskmaster was the one shooting at him, and he was possibly the deadliest assassin in his prime. He even gave the likes of Captain America trouble. Francis told Daisy to stay hidden, and Tony told Francis he should stay hidden too, but they both know he can't or won't do that. The fight progressed with Taskmaster thoroughly beating Eli to a pulp, and with a little help from Daisy he managed to tag Crossfire but Taskmaster was proving to be too much for him, until the sudden arrival of a large Iron Man suit.

At first Francis thought it was Tony, but he informed Francis it wasn't actually him. The "robot" was strong but also crudely built, clearly not using the best materials, still it forced Taskmaster and Crossfire to run away, though they had gotten the information. Francis talked to the person in the suit and she revealed herself to be a girl named Riri Williams. Francis thanked her for the save and pled with her to come back to base as they needed heroes and luckily she agreed. Still, even with all that information, Francis was angry because he told James this would happen and it did.

Back in the Biodome, Pym and Banner have been using the Banner B.O.X. test to find more smart people across America, everyone at home with a computer or some form of technology were taking the test. Pym and Banner agreed that things weren't looking up: no one had beaten even Azari's score, until suddenly a name stared climbing through the ranks: flying past Azari's score, scooting past Pym's score, and stopping before Bruce's score and not touching Tony's, which had been the highest out of all of them. Still it was extremely impressive, and Pym and Banner didn't hesitate planning a trip to find this Amadeus Cho, and see if he was willing to help the Avengers. When they are about to leave, they also got a call from Francis saying he thinks he found one of those smart people they're looking for (referring to Riri).

Meanwhile, Azari, Torunn and James are in the plane nearing Genosha and on the phone with Tony. He informs them of how poorly the mission went, and of course how Hawkeye wasn't happy in the slightest. James says they should have brought Vision, and Tony agrees and tells them to stay safe on the Genosha mission, it's uncharted waters. The Quinjet had already synced on to heat signatures confirming people were down there, it just wasn't clear if they were the X-Men. When they did land the Quinjet's radar showed that they were quickly surrounded, so the three stayed sharp ready for anything.

When they exited the Quinjet they were met with the faces of X-23, Beast, Emma Frost, and Kitty Pryde, along with kids their own age. Kitty asked about who they were and what they wanted, and James explained that they were Avengers looking for X-Men, and he thinks they just found them. Emma angrily told him there were no X-Men, causing Azari to ask if they were mutants. They confirmed their status as mutants, but that they hadn't been X-Men for a long time.

James explained to them that they beat Ultron and there was no need to worry anymore, that America was a free country. Emma didn't seem to care and Azari, thinking that things were going well asked for their names, causing Kitty to introduce everyone except the kids, as they were told they shouldn't be focused on them. Azari said they need help and extra hands, and Emma instantly denied them, insisting they aren't ever helping the Avengers. Beast however asked how they beat Ultron, and James explained how they beat him two years ago.

Emma told him it doesn't matter as the people who made their world important were gone. And Azari asked what happened to the X-Men during the Ultron War, and what exactly was the Legacy Virus? Beast explained that a long time ago a man named Nathaniel Essex or Mister Sinister had been messing with the X-Men for a long while, a lot of cloning and other things, but by far the worst thing he had ever done was give a man named Stryfe the means to kill off the X-Men with the Legacy Virus. Only a few months prior to Ultron's takeover it was released on the world, the X-Men were so focused on solving that issue they didn't even know the Avengers were dead until it was all over the news, and then they didn't even believe until a live stream courtesy of Ultron displayed some pretty convincing evidence.

James questioned why they didn't believe it at first, and Beast sadly explained that there was too much death and that the Legacy Virus had thousands of mutants hospitalized, they just hadn't cared. Azari asked about his mom, and he doesn't get any good answers from Emma. She knew about the virus and Ultron but she was supposed to stay in Wakanda, but Ultron had been more important to her so they didn't have much contact. Her last moments before her presumed death were still lost.

James (maybe not so smartly) told the X-Men that Storm was right, Ultron was more important. Despite the icy prompt from Emma, James explains that it seemed like there were people were in big trouble, and dying everyday, it looked very bleak, and Kitty confirmed that. But James told them it still wasn't important because Ultron ended up dropping a bomb on New York City, millions of people, humans and mutants alike, perished that day, and from the ashes of N.Y.C. he built Ultra City. James finished off his explanation once again telling the X-Men that Ultron was more important.

Sound reasoning or not, James had angered Emma. Megan tried to stop her but it was too late, Emma pinned him to the Quinjet, yelling that he didn't understand the pain and torment the mutant race had gone through since their creation. She claimed that only three years ago they found a cure for the virus, and that Genosha was their safe haven. Still James tried to make a plea for help insisting that the X-Men were needed, they were spreading entirely too thin, that there were 250 million people begging on their knees for help. Still Emma denied them, saying humans would always hate mutants and not even the destruction of the world would change that.

The trio of heroes were disappointed in the response and James sent them to the Quinjet; in one last desperate act he looked to the kids and begged that they made their own choice. The world would still be filled with Ultron Bots if the Avengers hadn't decided to do something. He knew they were fighters, and they should make their own choices. They were old enough to know what they wanted to do and not have someone spoonfeed them. Still, as they flew back to the Biodome it was clear to the Avengers that was nothing was ever going to be easy.
