Things are different! It’s not like all those stories Tony told you. Things were never that easy then, and they are not that easy now. Without T’Challa, Reed Richards, Hank McCoy, Hank Pym, Peter Parker, without that genius...It’s-it’s just not possible for Tony and I to manage a war torn country on our own.

Synopsis for "The Savage Lands"Edit
This issue begins with the Heroes of Tomorrow getting ready for their Mission to Madripoor. Tony, Banner and Vision question the team, specifically James on the premise of the mission and the exact details, and he relays it back perfectly to them, satisfiying Tony. In his explanation, James said their job was to find Ka-Zar and Shanna, the self-proclaimed King and Queen of the Savage Land, as they would know where they could find Wolverine. Tony briefly let them know that they don't have a plan yet for Madripoor.
In the Quinjet the conversation starts off simply between the teen heroes. Francis claims that he hates morning missions, saying that he likes to work in the dark. James and Azari listen in, but things don't get serious until Torunn says she's worried about what's happening, angry that Madripoor seems to be planning a takeover.
Azari and Pym agree that it's a little weird, they question how an island with a population of one million hope to take over the United States, even in their severely weakened state. James says it because they have something, and that fifteen years ago no one would try this because the Army, S.H.I.E.L.D., the FBI, CIA, SWORD, or D.I.S. would have gotten to you first. But of course they didn't have those things anymore, and they would struggle against nukes and possibly a couple hundred supers.
Francis brings up the point that Asia hadn't been touched by Ultron, he had only just finished his takeover of Europe and was getting ready to destroy Asia when the team had stopped him. They were still in relatively good shape. Azari tells the team that prior to Ultron's reign, Madame Viper had been ruling Madripoor. It had been a while, but she was probably still in charge.
The team continues to theorize how any of this is possible, coming to the conclusion that most villains must have struck a deal with the genocidal robot. Let them live and they'd get out of his way. It was the only thing that made sense. But now that he's gone, they're coming out of the woodwork. Still, it was all baseless speculation so they still needed to wait for proof, and until then they needed to focus on the Savage Land mission, James gave them a pep talk and it was go time from there.
The mission starts off simply enough: the team trekked through the Savage Land with some complaints from Francis about the smell, but the group of heroes all agreed that the place was beautiful. While they trek through the Land, James reminds them that they are looking for a S.H.I.E.L.D. Outpost, as that's where Tony believes they can find Wolverine. Torunn stops the group as she believes she's heard something, and she's correct when the team are surrounded by the Golden People.
While the Heroes of Tomorrow tried to talk with the unknown species they weren't happy with the intrusion and attacked the team anyways. The team however had been fighting for two years, and not just fighting but fighting together. This made the dismantling of the Golden People easy, but it brought attention to themselves, and led Ka-Zar, Shanna, and their son Matty right to them.
Ka-Zar and Shanna wanted to know who was trespassing in the Savage Land, and James told them that they are the "Avengers." Ka-Zar was surprised as he believed the Avengers to be dead, but as he took a closer look he saw that they must be who they say they are. The two groups coordinate with the Heroes explaining that they are there looking for Wolverine, while explaining their defeat of Ultron.
Shanna told them she's not sure Wolverine is there, as they hadn't seen any foreigners in three years. Azari asks who the foreigners were, and Shanna hesitantly tells them that it was the X-Men. The kids are shocked, because as far as they knew they were the only superhumans around. Shanna said she's not sure if they are alive, but they had come to the Savage Land looking for a solution to something called the Legacy Virus. Unfortunately, neither group knew enough about this virus to know what the X-Men were looking for.
Still, even though Shanna admits they never found what they were looking for, James doesn't give up hope that they can find Wolverine, so they continue trekking towards the Depot. When they got there, they did end up finding a mutant alongside some dead animals, but instead of finding Wolverine, they found the wild mutant Omega Red. It was a quick fight as Omega Red seemed nowhere near full strength, and the Avengers left the Savage Land dissappointed to not find what they were looking for.
Back home, things aren't any better as they aren't able to get any information from Omega Red, and they have another meeting as Tony says there is good and bad news. The good news is that only 22% of Europe still needs liberation, and they won't have to worry much as other militaries were planning on helping out. Pym pointed out that only Latveria denied help from them, which was weird since they were one of the smallest countries. Tony explains that Victor Von Doom is the leader over there and it's probably because Ultron was scared enough to not mess with him.
Afterwards, James and Banner have an argument, James telling Tony and Bruce that things are still moving too slow, America was nowhere near where it needed to be, and that when they liberated the world, he hadn't expected it to take 5-7 more years before people could live again. Bruce tells James that it's just not possible for him and Tony to guide a war torn country on their own, they were only two people. Old ones at that. Pym agrees and comes up with a simple strategy. Get more smart people, and after an in-depth explanation everyone agrees.
Azari says he believes he can help by taking a trip to Wakanda and possibly persuade his Aunt into helping out, maybe in Central America so they can have less on their plate. Tony is hesitant but Banner and James agree so Tony ends up agreeing anyway. Francis remembers that there was supposed to be bad news and Tony explains there has already been a breach at their borders, and that even though his facial recognition system is old it picked up a match on William Cross, an old mercenary involved in drug trafficking, extortion, and assassinations.
Tony says that it's just him so James splits the group into three teams. He, Torunn and Azari will be going to Wakanda, while Francis will take Daisy and Eli to deal with Cross, with Tony overseeing the mission, and Pym will work with Banner on the acquiring geniuses front. There is some disagreements from Francis, believing Torunn should go with him but James insists those three will be enough, James says if he's worried then he can take Vision. Tony agrees to the proposition, ending the issue.
