It feels like the right thing to do. I love working here, I love being here with you guys, but the good an Organization like S.H.I.E.L.D. can do in this world is  just too much to pass up on. I’ll still work with you guys, I might just be a little further away.

Synopsis for "Fury Nicholas J"Edit

The issue starts where the last one ended off and that's with James asking Daisy to explain what's going on with the reformation of S.H.I.E.L.D.

After everything that had happened, The Avengers had to admit this was the least likely scenario they thought was going to happen. After defeating the Masters of Evil with the help from the blue side of the X-Men the only thing on the Avengers minds had been party, and then they would go to Madripoor and round up the rest of the Masters of Evil after getting a sanction from the government.

It would be easy enough especially after they were gonna hand over all the files they had that proved the Masters of Evil were involved in the original Madripoor fight. They were cruising, but now supposedly S.H.I.E.L.D. was coming back, but that should have been a good thing. But apparently to come back they were going to need Daisy. Each and everyone was very interested in what Daisy was going to say, and at the moment it seemed like she was trying to figure out how to explain everything she knew.

Daisy finally is able to speak and tells them that S.H.I.E.L.D. is coming back and from what she understands ASAP. Tony questions who's going to be heading this reformation of S.H.I.E.L.D. and she tells him that it's Valerie Cooper and Marcus Johnson aka Nick Fury Jr.

Francis tells her those are things he never thought would ever happen and wonders how she even got in contact with them. Daisy explains the situation in Colorado and talked about how the Avengers simply couldn't be the World's only form of security when they were only five people.

Daisy explains that S.H.I.E.L.D. coming back will allow them to work in tandem with the government to get jobs done. they would be like the middle men between heroes and the true world governments.

Azari says that it's undeniable that S.H.I.E.L.D. in any capacity coming back is a good thing, but he's curious on how and why they chose her. And Daisy say's she guesses it's because there are few people like her. People on the right side of the law who understand how the government and how the Avengers work. A person with powers, and general smarts.

Torunn admits that Daisy is perfect for the job but that they would really miss her with the Avengers and Amadeus agrees, which starts a choruses of "please don't go!" and "We'd miss you!" James seems to be the only one who realizes there's even more she hasn't said yet and asks her about it.

Daisy explains that another reason they wanted her was because they want the Scavengers. They are really the only true elite strike team that is accessible and a lot of them would make amazing S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and they'd really like to recruit...all of them.

Francis can barely believe it and Pym says it's crazy but it does make complete sense. Francis isn't sure what to say and so he asks James to speak and he says he understands

“I mean. I guess it makes sense. If I was trying to restart S.H.I.E.L.D. I’d probably pick Daisy to help restart it as well. The Scavengers also make sense and while they would be sorely missed I know a lot of them would like to be closer to society but still work with us. And they would get to do that with S.H.I.E.L.D. I guess my only problem is that none of us have met this new Nick Fury. And it wouldn’t be wise to let you do this without meeting them first.”

Daisy tells them meeting Nick Fury can be arranged and so Daisy gets in contact with Fury. Tony asks Daisy if she was taking this job, and Daisy reveals that she really already had as it felt like the right thing to do. And she admits she's told Eli who is also already sold on all of this.

In the next scene the Avengers talk with Nick Fury getting down to business, Each of the Avengers understand how important S.H.I.E.L.D. can be in the grand scheme of things so the conversation isn't a long one. It's just simple questions like how long have you been planning something like this, and when will it go down. And how they will work with S.H.I.E.L.D.

Azari tells Fury they will probably get on each other's nerves, but it was obvious this was for the good of mankind. After Fury tells them a lot of information about S.H.I.E.L.D. is classifed he extends an offer to work there to James. James wonders if he's serious and thinks it over for a few seconds.

James could only really laugh, because there was absolutely no way he could stop being Captain America to become a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. It just wasn’t responsible and there were still so many things he could do. The Avengers’ jobs were in no way done, and honestly, if James was being honest it felt like it had truly just begun.

After rejecting the offer Fury turns to Francis telling him that his mother and father were great agents and he could be too. and some of the others seemed shocked that Fury turned to Francis, but Tony, Bruce, and James weren’t surprised in the slightest. Francis had a knack for things like this. He was a great leader, smart, and an excellent fighter. You couldn’t get much better than Francis.

Francis himself was just a little shocked at the offer but he had a feeling it was coming by the way Daisy was looking at him, and he knew he had to decline as well. He was nearly 13 when he took control of the Scavengers after his father died. He then took control of them, hiding out in Ultra City for years, which was still the hardest thing he had ever done. And while he could envision himself working for S.H.I.E.L.D. Like James he wasn’t sure today was that day.

Francis also denies telling Fury that the Avengers are nowhere near done and that it wasn't his time to do that yet. Fury tells him that he respects it and then gets ready to leave as that's all the time he really has for a meeting as there is so much to do.

Fury leaves and Daisy follows telling the team she'll be back and after they disappear Tony admits to them that he’s very glad they didn’t accept. S.H.I.E.L.D will be great but he still sees them as kids. And truthfully they still are kids. He wants them around for a little longer before they inevitably try to branch out. James assures Tony that he's always going to have them.

After this they all leave, except for James and he and Daisy share a little moment. Despite neither outright saying It’s obvious they have to break up although it’s very amicable. Neither believe a long distance relationship would work, but both iterate that they had fun and that it was a very nice first relationship. They share more talks encouraging one another, and James insisting that she’s careful. They leave to watch a movie, but with all of this it begins the process of moving out the Scavengers.

NotesEdit

By word count on A03 this is by far Capt10America's shortest chapter not even hitting 3k words. By summary it's 2nd shortest issue. A far cry from some of the earlier issues which were much larger.
