Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, welcome to the first panel of FanonCon 2019! I'm so happy this is back! Let's celebrate...
Anyway, I'm glad to be kicking off FanonCon this year. Shoutout to X and Zoom, who helped me organize this. Welcome to my Marvel Cinematic Universe panel!
Overview
I've been working on my MCU on and off for a few years now. This year was kind of difficult for me to work on my project; I just graduated high school, and anyone who has can tell you, your senior year can be kind of busy. Between applying for colleges, trying to maintain good grades, and having a job, I didn't have a whole lot of time to work on a Marvel fan universe. Now that I'm out of school, and it's summer, I've been crafting ideas. I'm proud to present those to you today! Today you will get insight on known projects, as well as some surprises! Let's get started with...
Movies
Avengers Assemble!
Avengers Assemble is the last film in the Phase One lineup. It's a work in progress, and if you've read what I've published thus far, you know that Loki is attempting to invade Earth with an army of Frost Giants. Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. are forced to assemble the heroes you know and love to save Earth from this impending threat. This movie brings back previously established heroes Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and Hulk, as well as newcomers Ant-Man and the Wasp (sort of... more on them later).
This movie is also introducing us to Ultron (again, more on him later), as well as the idea of Life Model Decoys and S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Natasha Romanoff, AKA the Black Widow. If you've noticed throughout the MCu thus far, S.H.I.E.L.D. has had a major presence. That will continue through Phase Two, with...
Ant-Man
Ant-Man is planned to be the first film of Phase Two, but will be a prequel to Avengers Assemble. Patrick Wislon previously played Hank Pym in the end-credits of Iron Man; the Ant-Man film will take place AFTER this end-credits scene, but BEFORE Avengers Assemble (again, a prequel).
In this movie we'll get to see more of S.H.I.E.L.D. in action. I know what you're thinking; MORE of them? They've been in basically every movie! This movie will see S.H.I.E.L.D. take the drivers seat in terms of focus, as Ant-Man and Wasp are both agents. They will be taking on Radioactive Man in this film, as well as A.I.M., or Advanced Idea Mechanics.
I initially planned to do a S.H.I.E.L.D. film focusing on Hawkeye, Black Widow and Mockingbird, where they would be tasked with taking on the Taskmaster. That idea for a film turned into a TV show, which kind of morphed with the Ant-Man movie. What I'm trying to say is that Black Widow and Hawkeye will be hanging around Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne in this movie. Mockingbird and Taskmaster aren't coming just yet, but I haven't forgotten about them. They'll be back.
As for Ultron, I'm setting up his relationship with Ant-Man in this movie, the Iron Man post credits (sorta), Avengers Assemble, and likely an Ant-Man sequel. I want to build up the eventual betrayal to make it more meaningful. Ultron will eventually be an Avengers antagonist.
The Amazing Spider-Man
After seeing Far From Home, I'm incredibly excited to work on a Spider-Man film. Similar to what the MCU is planning on, this will be the first of a trilogy, which will be the first of three trilogies. That's right, I'm planning on at least 9 Spidey films. The first trilogy will see Peter Parker in high school, the second will see him in college, and the third will see him as an adult in the real world.
Another similarity to the MCU, this movie is largely skipping the origin. We don't need to see Peter get bit by the spider, we don't need to see Uncle Ben get shot. We already know the origin. However, unlike the MCU, I'm going to acknowledge Uncle Ben, and like in the comics, his death will have a major effect on Peter's life. We won't see Ben Parker die, but we will see his legacy through Peter.
I'm a bit torn on who I want the villain to be. Norman Osborn is going to appear, but he isn't going to be Green Goblin just yet. I was thinking Mysterio, but then I feel I'd be retreading what we saw in Far From Home. Could be Doc Ock, could be Sandman, I honestly don't know. I'm opening this up to the panel:
Who do YOU want to see as the first threat Spider-Man faces in the MCU?
Also, Harry Osborn will appear. His relationship with his father and Peter (as well as Peter and Norman's relationship) will play a large role in this first trilogy, and will carry over in future films post-first trilogy.
Doctor Strange
If I'm being totally honest, I haven't gotten that far into Doctor Strange's development. I've been more focused on the development of Ant-Man, Spider-Man, the TV shows, and a handful secret projects (a few of which will be revealed today). The film will obviously focus on Stephen Strange as the Sorcerer Supreme, and will tiptoe around the origin (sort of), but otherwise this is still in "pre-production". I do enjoy the Jericho Drumm character though, and think he could play a role in the film or its sequel. That's it for the films you guys are aware of. Now it's time to unveil a few secrets...
Secret Project #1
Reed Richards. Sue Storm. Bem Grimm. Johnny Storm.
They are the Fantastic Four.
This film is largely responsible for the lack of Doctor Strange content in today's panel, lol. Seriously, I've been mapping out this film for a good while. Fantastic Four is going to see Reed, Sue, Ben and Johnny get their powers in... the 60s. They left Earth as scientists, they return as urban legend.
Victor Von Doom is going to make an appearance. He's one of the greatest Marvel villains ever, how could he not? He won't be the villain though; he will be on the scientist team that goes into space, but when they return, why doesn't he want to stick around with Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben? You'll see. Doom is going to be the misunderstood villain that we know and love from the source material.
At this moment in time, the villain will be Annihilus. The F4 go into space and somehow enter the Negative Zone, where they recieve their powers. They encounter Anniihilus, the ruler of the Negative Zone, and conflict ensues.
Oh, and they'll be S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. I told you that S.H.I.E.L.D. would maintain a presence.
I've got a ton of other plans for this film, but I'm keeping it on the down low for now. Don't want to give too much away. ;)
Secret Project #2
We're getting cosmic in Fantastic Four, but they're largely Earth-based. To truly branch into the cosmic side of the Marvel universe, we need to start with a truly cosmic character.
Ladies and gentleman, Phase Two will be giving us Nova.
Richard Rider is the last member of the Nova Corps remaining, and it's up to him to protect space from intergalactic threats. The Nova Corps fall in the midst of the Kree-Skrull war (that's right, the Kree and the Skrulls are involved in this film), and with nowhere to run, Richard Rider is forced to boss up and stop the war and save the day. He'll be getting some help from Mar-Vell, who by the end of this movie, will become the superhero Captain Marvel.
Don't worry, Carol Danvers is in the back of my mind; just doing Mar-Vell first.
The Guardians of the Galaxy are going to be set up in this movie, also.
Other Upcoming Projects
Obviously we'll be seeing sequels to Phase One films such as Iron Man, Captain America, Thor: God of Thunder, The Incredible Hulk and Avengers Assemble!, but like Doctor Strange, the development of those films have been paused in favor of Fanstastic Four, Spider-Man, Ant-Man and Nova. Those films are coming down the pipeline though. I've actively been planning an Ant-Man sequel, but until I get the first Ant-Man out, not much is coming of that. That movie will continue to build up Ultron, and at the end, it will come crashing down on Ant-Man and the Wasp. A few other films are in pre-production. X-Men, Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, Namor and Deadpool are all being thought about too.
TV Shows
Daredevil
Daredevil is a character I love, and he will be the one to open the doors to the darker side of the MCU. Daredevil is a gritty character, and for the most part I intend to stay true to the character. I say "for the most part" because I'm hoping for a Spider-Man cameo in there somewhere, but you get the drill. Kingpin will be the main villain of the first season, we'll get Foggy Nelson and Stick as recurring characters, Matt Murdock's religion is likely to be a key element of his character, and we'll see minor villains as Kingpin's lackeys. Haven't figured out who just yet, but Owl and Stilt-Man are likely candidates. Elektra might appear, too.
Howard the Duck
This is going to be so much fun.
Again, sort of branching into the cosmic worlds, Howard the Duck is getting a show. It'll partially be set on Earth, and partially set in Duckworld. Beverly Switzler is going to appear. Hit-Monkey is going to appear. It's going to be off the wall, wild stuff. Once I introduce him, there's not way I'm not going to include Deadpool.
I honestly don't have a thought out story for this yet either, but it's going to be the funnest project to work on.
Cloak and Dagger
No plans for a second season just yet, but with a Doctor Strange movie and a Daredevil TV show on the way, Cloak and Dagger will be officially worked into the new canon. Once it's part of the new canon, I will start work on a second season.
Other Upcoming Projects
I haven't actively been working on much of the TV side of things. However, I've given thought to Blade, Punisher, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Ghost Rider, Morbius the Living Vampire, and Moon Knight as possible future TV shows. It's also likely we could see one of these become a movie. If I have enough fun with Howard the Duck, and if I can come up with a good enough story, maybe we'll see a Hit-Monkey TV series.
Thank You
I just want to thank everyone for reading this; I know it was a lot. I'm excited for the future of the MCU, and I'm excited for all the upcoming panels throughout the week. If you have any questions or comments about what you've read, feel free to reply to this thread. I'll answer what I can; don't want to give too much away. Thank you again, and have a great rest of your day! GGD
